Your blogs are always the best but this one was really great. Your dad and his demeanor is so typical of any farmer during the “heat” of the harvest “battle”. Many years from now you’ll look back at this one and I bet it will bring a joyful tear to your eyes.
I love when I’m able to get dad talking on camera
Good job dad, making daughter proud.
What an awesome American Family... Always enjoy your videos. God Bless
You are so kind. Thank you!
Hey Nikki, maybe it's the red bull that's got Dad in a talking mood! Thanks for the ride-along!
Idk what it was but whatever it is I need to find out! 😂
good job dad...keep listening to those girls of yours. they will help when you start getting old...old and beyond !! i'm 81 and got 3 girls and i found out they are a pleasure to tell me what i should be doing.....enjoy their sandwich making while you can! time goes by super fast, enjoy your family !!!!
Papa Boxler speaks!! That was hilarious 😂 a few red bull’s and he comes right out of his shell. That was a great segment! Keep him fueled on the “psyche juice” so he talks more 🤣
I’ll do my best! 😂
Your process reminds me a lot of a Dairy processing plant. The equipment looks similar. The end result is a whole lot different. Both are a lot of work.
I really like the interaction between you and your dad it truly a family that love what they do!
love working with family, even tho they can drive you nuts at times 😂
That is so cool you get to work with your Dad. Cherish every moment.
It's nicec to see family's working togather and passing along the knowledge from generations
I tap 75 trees by myself on my property here in Canada, and instead of Red Bull, I drink Busch Beer on my snowmobile when hauling buckets of sap out of the bush 😂..... you guys have a really nice setup ❤
My order just arrived and I couldn’t be happier. Products were very well packaged and I’m lovin the new products. Cotton candy was amazing. As a Farmer myself it’s great to get quality products from a loving family who puts their all into it. Thanks
Glad you like them! Thank you for choosing to support our family business!
That is really neat, you being with your dad out working. My daughter used to go with me to the Saturday Farmers Market and we sure enjoyed our time together.
Family time is the best!
I always like working with my 5 adult kids on the farm....whenever they can...my daughter came back to the shop and helped me just today...
Don't get to as much now days..because they all have farms & jobs , spouses and families of their own ...Gods plan ...cycles of life.....
Good thing....is, I & mum are part of it all...yet
I pretty much just live on Costco trail mix and coffee in the maple season. The red bulls are pretty tasty too 😂
His meals look a lot like the ones I eat during snowstorms while plowing! Hard working man right there. Awesome
I'd go for rye bread and brown mustard. Some dill pickles too. Other than that, you're living large in my book.
Enjoyed your time with us. Please keep us updated
I second that, fun to see you two hanging out and that Dad engaged us all! Tell your Dad that out west we eat Beef Jerky on the road. Also, I just invented a new recipe for Boxler syrup - mix it with Dijon mustard, soy sauce, garlic and ginger powder, coat a salmon filet with it and cook in air fryer for 10 min, awesome! Happy Harvest!
Sounds delicious!
Man really getting everyone talking about maple harvesting has been really awesome. The entire family input has been amazing! Thank you so much for everyone getting included. Nikki has been working so hard to make this channel grow. It's her dedication that has made her hardworking strength to grow her channel. It's especially nice when hearing from her family. Truly amazing!! Thank you all so much.
Thank you for following along! UA-cam is a lot of work. I’m hoping maybe someday it will pay off and I’ll be able to take a vacation with UA-cam money or at least buy a months worth of groceries 😂
Loved that you captured your dad's thoughts and pithy sayings. That's a treasure. Especially loved his comment about the work schedule, "We'll eat when it rains."
Dad is awesome. More video's dad!!!! Hard working family keep it up. 👍👍
Kool video.. first time viewer. Work a fall festival and run hayrides 13 hours a day.. peanut butter and honey 12 grain bread... cut in quarters.. easy eat driving!!
Glad the family is involved in this Great Seasonal Event! Go Boxler 's 👍
Good to see him with the Little Debbie Swiss cake rolls made right here in Collegedale(Chattanooga ), TN.
Your Dad’s a hoot 😂
He’s the best!
@@MapleFarmer I grew up in Holland, not far from you guys. I’m in Chicago now, but every time I come home to visit my parents I ask them “hey, ever hear of Boxler Maple?” 😅. Go Bills!
Haha that’s awesome! Go bills!
Great video keep up the awesome work you do with your family.
The question you asked what do other eat, differences in trade we are in the construction field i pack in my Tough Box Klein Tools 4 sandwiches made from slices of ham, chicken cheese and lettuce. 2 apples 6 waters, and snacks.
WTG, dad!
I really enjoyed your trip with your Dad. I am sure most would be eating the same. But Hot Coffee would be a must for me. So much technology in syrup making today… When I was a boy we would be making cane syrup. It went straight from the pan out of the press. It took fire wood and someone to skim the syrup.. What a beautiful place you have built.
Triscuits, Garlic or Fire Roasted Tomato & Olive. & apples.
Wonderful sharing! Thanks so much for indicating the reality. WHEW, I am worn out. 😅
During long days on the road I always resort to burritos. I have 3 options to get a giant breakfast burrito to feed me throughout the day. I also put leftovers inside of tortillas and pocket breads.
I’m also expert in gas station, food cart, and convenience store bites. I’m a mushroom forager and have been given tips to some of my favorite spots by stopping at these places. I’ve been lucky to meet so many friendly people along my routes. A nice lady used to make gift me full cakes and cupcakes weekly until I politely told her my waistline was suffering!😂She switched to fresh canned tuna and salmon after that.
The truck reminds me of a milk truck.
It is an old milk truck!
Never change what you guys doing, boy does it work.
That's funny I ate the same thing your dad does just not the pretzels. But I set a farm tractor for days and nights.
Thanks for sharing this video and all other videos with us
Granola bars and a bowl of fruit is all I get when I am working days away on the evaporator. I drink bottles of water while cooking and drink the sap when gathering. Keep up the good work and I hope the season gives us another week, but here in WI I had to pull a dozen taps in yards cause the buds dropped.
Yea it’s not looking good for syrup season
I thought the video was absolutely fantastic
Thank you so much!
I haul milk from dairy farms.... I don't know, he's pretty lucky to have ham n cheese... I get peanut butter and jelly... And that's the peanut butter today and the jelly tomorrow!!!!.... Tell him to count his blessings... 😂... Good video!
Great operation. Awesome video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I used to eat while driving all the time... I was on the road almost every day from late March into early December doing field work. Usually starting by 5:30, sometimes returning 11PM... I knew every decent place to get a sandwich in northern New England... also all the McDonalds, Burger Kings... liked burgers in a box, folded out to a dinner plate :) Used to keep a roll of paper towels on the seat next to me, use for a bib sometimes. Worst thing I ever had to manage was a hot, dripping pizza right out of the oven while navigating a twisting mountain road! In the field, time was critical, never stopped for lunch, ate while I worked. Sometimes that would be a pocket full of peanuts... you could trace my progress by following the shells! Maybe that's why I enjoy just hanging around home these days (retired end of 2020 at 72). Love your videos, keep at it!
your meals sound just like dad. He rarely ever gets to sit down at a table for a meal. I hope you are enjoying your retirement and thank you for watching our videos!
👍luv‘d it! Brought back memories of working in the sugar bush in my youth. That was going tree to tree to gather the sap after school and it became so dark I can‘t remember how much brush slapped me in the face. I still enjoy this time of year.
Haha I remember those days well! So many good childhood memories!
Watching your family harvest maple syrup, then process it is phenomenal! A unique product we don’t see here in WA. Thank You
Love a good ham & swiss samich!
I usally eat homade venison jearky hot coffee and whatever leftovers we have
I need to make dad some jerky!
The unsung hero “ Dad”
Pork Rinds with Nacho cheese dip. No sodas, no coffee only water and Pierre Orange. I will also make myself little sausage snacks before I go to work by cutting up sausage and wrapping it in bacon then on the smoker for an hour or so with cedar and cherry wood. Nothing beats a good Ham sandwich for sure.
That sounds so delicious! I should make some of those on the smoker!
Not many grocery options in the city of Varysburg Meals compliments of the Family Dollar!?!?
Truth. That’s pretty much the only option 😂
In the morning, Sara Lee Pecan Coffee Cake & dark roast coffee w/ cream & maple to wash it down and make it happy. 😃👍
The red bull really surprise me ;) ;) there is about 9 cup of coffee in each of those can ;) he will be up all night for sure ;)
Great video!
Thanks!
I've lost 13 pounds this maple season and we are no way the operation you guys are! Long hours, lots of exercise and no time to eat well!
Amazing operation
Thank you!
Your father is spot on with the meal on the run, minus the Red Bull (that stuff is terrible for you! lol).
Also send along more information on the tap-spike separator you showed in one of your shorts. Looks like all of us will be done with syrup early this year and I would like to try that tool.
Yes! I’ll try to film it tomorrow to share in one of my next videos! I’ll also try to just do a post or another short on it!
Love you Guys.
Thanks for tuning in!
Hi Nikki I’m glad I subscribed to your channel it’s so very interesting… You have an amazing facility, spotless…
Is your Maple Farm considered a big operation??
And again you’re such a Beautiful Lady you Syrup has to be extra sweet thanks for sharing😊
I would say we are considered medium sized. I’m hoping to visit some large operations this spring to film a tour of for UA-cam!
Great video and great content . I eat tuna and celery sticks with peanut butter and cheese orange juice and crackers I try to eat healthy foods but I eat what I can
Y'all are good people. Sometimes a Dollar General Surf & Turf meal kit of Sardines & Vienna Sausages will do in a pinch.
Yup! Dollar general special right there
That was an amazing video do you do any trucking love your videos how is thhe baby getting big i bet
I haven’t in almost 2 years maybe I’ll drive next time! The baby is doing great and ready to tap some maples!
The best energy drink I've ever had is maple sap.
We tried some maple sports drinks a few years back that Cornell was working on but I haven’t seen or heard anything since. I wonder if they ever released them!
@@MapleFarmer Try it, it'll get you going & it tastes good. You don't want any buddy sap, of course.
I'm from OH & my brother in law is from VT, & his dad was a lifelong old time VT sugar maker and I learned that trick from him when I started tapping trees 15 years ago.
The local tradition in the Mad River Valley in VT at the outset of the first sap run of the season is to make a toast to the maples & the season with maple sap.
I took that one step further one day in the sugarbush when I was really thirsty & didn't have a bottle of water in my pack & I watered up on sap and after the sucrose hit me, I was moving pretty good.
I must say that you produce some really good videos & you have an excellent presence in them, you're very well spoken and informative.
Thanks a bunch for a really good YT channel for folks like us.
Also, I've never heard anything about what Cornell was doing, but I don't see how they could modify sap to make it a better energy drink & raw sap is about as clean of water as you can drink.
"Keep Calm and Tap On"......
Happy sugaring to you and your father.
@@scotrussell9577 Cornell is a College a few hours away from us but they have many branches and extensions of programs and do a lot of research in the agriculture space. The drinks they were making were to be a healthy alternative to gatorade and Powerade... so not purely maple. Also Thank you for the kind words!
@@MapleFarmer You're quite welcome.
I imagine that if you keep up your good work, you're going to end up with a very popular and successful YT channel and I wish you the best of luck with that.
You guys have a nice sugaring operation up there in a really beautiful part of the world.
Maple sugaring is yet another facet of what I call the 'Good Life' & I can't imagine going on without sugaring season as an annual tradition now that I've been doing it for 15 seasons.
It gets in your blood quite easily, especially if you love the natural world.
Unfortunately, our season has come to a close in southeast OH due less than desirable sugaring weather. We've had a second warm spell this past week, up into the low 70's, & the sap run never recovers to what it could be after we get more than 1 or 2 days above 65 degrees. It's sad because right now is when the sap run usually gets really good in this area, the last week of February & the first week of March.
Hopefully you get another week or two of good sugaring weather, but it's apparently going to be a protracted season across most of maple production country this year.
I've realized that I need to seek out some input from producers in different parts of maple country to try figure out how to adapt to the increasing lack of snow & optimal weather this time of year. I pay attention to the trees as much as I can to try to figure out how they might be adapting & what they may have to tell me, because it seems to me that they're trying to figure out how to deal with the topsy-turvy weather as much as I am.
It's been good 'talking' with you...(so to speak, no pun intended...)
Have a nice day Nicki,
I reckon you're going to be busy.
Hilarious. That’s like my diet😳
😂😂
There needs to be some ice cream in the diet somehow. Someday, when you start experiencing painful gout, eliminate processed meats from the diet. Thanks for the ride along.
Hear in lower Michigan I have pulled all my taps the season is done.
yea are trying to hold on for as long as we can but the weather is not looking good for making maple
I know you are a large producer of syrup but any chance you can make some videos for the smaller hobbyists? Like on "finishing" by using hydrometers, filters and bottling so the syrup looks as clear as your does professionally? Thanks for the videos!!
I've been wanting to make some videos geared toward smaller producers and backyard hobbyist just haven't had time yet but it is something I plan to do! I'll work on doing this sooner rather than later!
What kinda snacks yal keep in the truck??😊
More David content. We all cracked up over here. 😂
Haha I’m working on it! It’s harder than you think to get him to talk on camera 😂
Give that man a Busch latte when the sap hauling is done for the night. Even though I know he prefers the Redbull. I’ll never forget one time in the old sugarhouse he was legit sleeping standing up waiting for the RO to finish washing. Hard working man right there.
He did that again the other night and almost fell over backwards. 😳
Do you think this warm week will bring an end to the sap or reduce the quality? How has the sugar content been?
Oh Boy! Be careful of little Debbie! She's killed a lot of people! ..I usually try to stay away from sugar and to many carbs. Sugar season is a good time to maintain a regimented diet that encourages fat burning. I won't bore anyone with details. ..You've got an awesome operation there. It makes me jealous! You should have an open house sometime.
I keep saying we should have an open house but Warren and Dad said they don’t have time
@@MapleFarmer Do it at a time when you can get the millennial farmer to visit!
I’ve literally been trying to get him to visit for years!! Maybe start leaving those comments on his page that he needs to visit the maple farmer 😉
How’s your dad do it. How much does he do on the dairy farm this time of year, I struggle with doing all the farm and boiling all night
Honestly I have no idea how he does it. The cows always come first so he’s at the dairy first usually until at least 1pm from there he jumps back and forth until night time and then does maple until the work is done or it’s 4am and he’s exhausted…whichever comes first
Do you have more brothers on the dairy farm?
Hans was your father? I knew him from backin the eighties
He was my grandpa! My dad’s dad!
How much time does your father and brother spend on the dairy during the day? I would imagine they must be burned out by the time syrup season is over.
Dad is on the dairy first and maple comes second, that’s why his days are so long and he’s always exhausted during maple season. I honestly don’t know how he keeps up with it all. Warren works full time at Milton cat as a diesel mechanic during the day!
@@MapleFarmer They are the definition of “what is a man”! I have so much respect for your family from watching your videos. Hopefully, he will have more appearances on his little girls channel 😬.
I hope so also!!
OH Nikki Nikki Nikki.... Your Pops needs a non processed meal and to lay off the redbulls. Not Judging... just suggesting. LOL. Will say it's nice to see him chattin.
trust me. I tell him that ALL the time
👍👍👍🙏
We eat bologna with mayonnaise on bread 😂
That’s a staple around here as well!
Is the plan eventually to up to the public
That's what we are hoping! Just for maple weekend and have a little onsite store. Nothing too crazy!
Please tell dad to use the seatbelt 😁
Old school truckers don't need them, they know how to operate
