You can see how John is really blown away, when asked to sing with Tom Jones. After this John and Tom did a nationwide sell-out tour together. They were really amazing together.
Yo. Tom Jones has an amazing voice. I don’t necessarily seek him out to listen to but when I do hear him it’s always great. He does the voice U.K. and he sang I’ll never fall in love again with Peter Donegan, whose the son of Lonnie Donegan ( who wrote the song for Tom) - it was a lovely moment. It made we check out the original and it’s a beautiful, sad song. Tom sang it live on the Dusty Springfield show in 67- and 50 years later his voice was still incredible 💜
John is like that with every famous person who knows him. It still surprises him and he is humble. They ended up great friends and John did a concert for his 50th Birthday. The back of the stage turned into a screen, it was Tom dropping in from his show in Vegas to sing Happy Birthday because he couldn’t come. It was the same when John got cancer. He was surprised at the love that poured in, he thought we forgot him in two years. Never happen. His Biopic Finding The Voice is on UA-cam, you should watch it and see just how hard it was for John to be allowed to sing his music his way, thank you.
Yo, yeah this segment on the show was all about music, and I am glad you saw his personality in this piece, and Tom and he bounce off each other quite well even if only for a minute or two.
Yo🎉🎉 it was so funny that they were talking about The Australian made concerts. They were done back in 1986 and 1987. It was a showcase of Aussie talent. The well watched clip oh the INXS and Jimmy Barnes clip of the song Good Times was from this concert. I have seen some behind the scenes videos and some of the live performances too. So great. From a very proud Australian 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Farnsey has always been an extremely nice bloke and humble to a fault. He is loved by all in the industry as well as total adoration by his milions of fans. He is an absolute national treasure ❤.
Hey hey it's Saturday,is one of the two tv programs that kept him going, when no radio would play him. Sometimes he was a guest, sometimes on the panel. The man sitting next to him was a music promoter, who had his own segment. They have been friends since his teenage years.
It's a big clip for a tiny song at the end up but it shows just how spontaneous the situation was. They both sound THAT GOOD all the time. Just fantastic.
Yo! So much talent right there with John Farnham still singing up into his seventies and Tom Jones belting out songs in his eighties both incredible. Rumours John might tour again but we will wait and see if it happens.
They also performed together at the ARIA awards after that singing ACDC’s It’s a Long Way to the Top if you want to Rock and Roll. It is brilliant. Thanks for reacting to our John.

It's funny that you posted this vid today, as yesterday I watched a whole bunch of reactors react to "I'll never fall in love again". He sang that live on TV in 1967, whilst I was gestating in my mother's womb. Today, I told my Mother that I was listening to it, and she said that I probably heard it 400 times before I was even born coz she bought the 45 and played it over and over with her sisters in Liverpool.
John doesn’t even belt he restrains himself he’s so overwhelmed. I remember being a kid watching this and my Auntie saying that Tom Jones could park his slippers under her bed any night and all us kids laughing our heads off!

The names etc they are talking about is for a nationwide concert that was held on the same night with top acts in each state - so Angels were performing in Adelaide I think, Ian Moss in Perth and so on. Yes they are talking about a Benefit tour across Australia. Hey Hey was a Saturday morning show that run for years, until it got a bit too risqué and then it went to Saturday Night and was a required watching. I’m pretty sure the show run for over 20 years.🎼❤️🇦🇺
I was a huge fan of Icehouse when I was a young teen in the UK. Gonna have to pull them up on Spotify tomorrow and see if they still flick the switch. ETA: also Crowded House
I made it to the end! Check out some of the concert material they did together. A stand out is Long Way to the Top (the AC/DC number). Great reaction as always ❤ 🦘
You asked about all of the artists that Molly mentioned - Skyhooks, Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss ("Mossy"), The Angels (pretty sure these guys were popular overseas at the time too), "Angry" Anderson from Rose Tattoo, Icehouse, Crowded House (not really Aussie as two of them were from NZ, but we tend to claim them as our own as they moved over many years before - fun fact - I have heard some of their songs played in a few American movies), and Jenny Morris. All of these were bands and artists who were very high on the Aussie music charts back then.
Jill Farnham can be seen in the audience in the last few seconds. She’s wearing a white suit and her smile suggests that, like John, she’s also a fan of Tom Jones.
4:26 BACK IN THOSE DAYS, THEY HAD 1" INCH REEL TO REEL TAPE for broadcast TV ( that's what that guy is running off with in that little box, 1" tape spot reel to lace up 👍) I used to spin that tape in some of Sydney's biggest post production houses. I was watching it LIVE "Hey Hey It's Saturday" that night 34 years ago when Tom Jones came on as a guest and he and John Farnham gave an impromptu capella rendition of Mama. That event resulted in this tour many years later ua-cam.com/video/tyfZDPbSktg/v-deo.htmlsi=yfG-6LBeMfi-kzAM Thanks for the nostalgic trip 🍷
What? In North America the standard was Beta machines and tapes until digital took over. I was in many studios in the 90s and never saw a reel to reel in any of them.
If you want to hear perfect Tone, please listen to Karise Eden, another Australian her audition on The Voice Australia, 4 chair turn, singing "It's a man's world".
Watched this at the time. They set John up (and Tom). John was seriously in awe of Tom and at that time Tom was the better singer (slightly 😊) because of all his experience. Off the back of this they ended up touring together. By that time John was in no way inferior.
Hi Mike, I'm Ali, an Aussie who grew up hearing John's music and loving it the moment I heard it. I literally just found your channel about 30 minutes ago and clicked on your "Help" reaction spontaneously to see what it's about. I've seen a lot of Farnsy's reactions by people over the last several months and I like yours. Can't wait to check out some more of your videos. Do you share your own music on your channel? :) To give you a little context of some of the conversation in the clip. Ian (Molly) Meldrum is a music "critic". He had his own show called Countdown and used to do the segment, Molly's Melodrama, on Hey Hey, which was a live weekly light entertainment that went for many years. He and the show introduced so many new and incredible artists to Australia that remain well known and loved to this day. If my memory serves me, the reference to concerts in other towns and states (eg, Adelaide, Tassie (Tasmania) etc), were referring to a series of charity concerts that were organised to raise money, probably (similar things were done many times over the years) in response to a natural disaster, such as fires, floods or droughts. John was always willing to get involved in events like that. He really cares for his community and fellow humans. John is an incredible artist and a just as incredible human.
Hey welcome to the channel. Hope to see you around. I love that Australia loves their heroes so much. That’s often lacking here in Canada. I have quite a bit of myself playing on UA-cam and a few of my own tunes too. I often put them on my end screens. ✌️ ❤️
I'm guessing its my age but they were referring to the Australia Made concerts (an awesome concept devised by Michael Gudinski to promote Australian music ). That bloke was a genius who launched Barnesy, INXS and Kylie, just to name a smidgen. I would be here all day if i mentioned all the artists he's influenced and unfortunately i'm on my 8th beer, so i'm shutting up for everyone's sake. Thanks for the reaction.

Hell yeah!! ❤️

All of the names that they were reciting are the name of bands that John was going to appear with in the respective towns.
Oh ok. Cool. ✌️
Thankyou for sticking with all the early part of this , with the old video etc - I've never seen all that before 😊
Very Nice reviewed
✌️ 🙏
Hi Michael, I was fortunate enough to attend a concert with Tom and John here in Sydney, it was mind blowing the power of both these artists. Yo
Crowded House was the only band on that list that I would’ve known before starting to look at Aussie bands on UA-cam.
Yo. Love your work. John is definitely awe struck by Tom.
Jill Farnham can be seen in the audience in the last few seconds. She’s wearing a white suit and her smile suggests that, like John, she’s also a fan of Tom Jones.
Great reaction mate. Tom and John did a duet at an Australian TV award show covering an ACDC song. Easy to find, so please react to it. Cheers.
4:26 BACK IN THOSE DAYS, THEY HAD 1" INCH REEL TO REEL TAPE for broadcast TV ( that's what that guy is running off with in that little box, 1" tape spot reel to lace up 👍)
I used to spin that tape in some of Sydney's biggest post production houses.
I was watching it LIVE "Hey Hey It's Saturday" that night 34 years ago when Tom Jones came on as a guest and he and John Farnham gave an impromptu
capella rendition of Mama.
That event resulted in this tour many years later

Thanks for the nostalgic trip 🍷
What? In North America the standard was Beta machines and tapes until digital took over. I was in many studios in the 90s and never saw a reel to reel in any of them.
The JVC VCR was a reference to the Australian funniest home videos intro.
I definitely didn’t pick up on that! Cheers. ✌️
Yo! I never get sick of hearing this. You're right, the clip was too short.
VHS was dominant in Australia during the 80s and 90s. Beta wasn't used much.
Same as everywhere else…. Beta was superior…..the media used Beta.
@@michaelgoyettemusic Beta had a higher video frequency range. Professional stuff, for sure.
If you want to hear perfect Tone, please listen to Karise Eden, another Australian her audition on The Voice Australia, 4 chair turn, singing "It's a man's world".
I’ll try but the Voice blocks my vids half the time.
@@michaelgoyettemusic or check out Karise performing an Adele cover "Easy on me" with other stellar Australian singers - not A Voice performance
Your comments are Bang on Mate.
Watched this at the time. They set John up (and Tom). John was seriously in awe of Tom and at that time Tom was the better singer (slightly 😊) because of all his experience. Off the back of this they ended up touring together. By that time John was in no way inferior.
I've stumbled across this clip of Tom and John in concert singing this song.

Yo thrown. Thanks for a trip in the way back machine!
What a trip!
To give you a little context of some of the conversation in the clip.
I love the information you shared AND the self awareness! 😂
@@michaelgoyettemusic Cheers mate! I believe it was Dirty Harry who said "Know your limitations!" lol. Have a great day and keep reacting...i love your vibe and attitude.
Hey Michael. Lovin your reactions.. especially the Aussies...coz thats me 😊 id live to see you react to a civer...done live..by one if our country music girls. Kasey Chambers. She did a cover of Eminem Lose yourself last year...live...and its just blown my mind. Hooe i can see you doing that soon. Take care
You’re in luck…it’s already done! 😃 ✌️
Funny when Molly hits John, for screaming Poofta at the screen (Molly was known (even back then) as Bi)
Yo I made it check out John and Tom singing at the Aria awards so good
YO!
The joke, in Australia a gay man would often be referred to as a poofter, the guy sitting next to John is actually gay.
Now wasn't that fun. John was so in awe of Tom Jones. Luckily they became great freinds and even toured together in 2005. And some other cameos they did at a music awards thing in the late 90's
Here is a video from when they sang the whole song together on tour

Oh and YO
Yep, a bunch of Aussie bands
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🎧
John was calling him self gay (poofter), molly got offended, because molly thought John was calling him gay( poofter) that why molly hit John for.
Johns always humble and its why internationals visitors always wanted to sing with john
Their are others where they sing full songs together
He even sang with ray Charles on stage as well
The poofter thing was molly he travelled the world as entertainment personality and run music show and promote their music and clips
He's as gay as you get never hidden the fact so when john caleed himself a poofter molly wacked him
Molly was the but of heaps of jokes on the show
As for all the bands they couldve been playing with john
Not sure but think it may have been for charity and why tickets where cheap to raise money john and glen arranged many of them
John even came out of retirement to sing in them organised by glen last one was hay day for farmers in drough stricken Australia 🇦🇺
The farmers had no money to buy hay not even food for themselves or families some couldn't afford bullets to kill the stock
Unfortunately the farmers with the bails had givem away as much as they could afford to
So they thrown a concert to raise millions to buy hay for they animals and Aussie's around Australia 🇦🇺 donated food and other stuff for the families to survive it got them through until weather broke and rains
We have droughts here that can last 5 / 10 yrs very little rain so not food for animals
It was the last time john sang he found out just after that had jaw cancer then lost 2 close friends Oliver Olivia and glen on top of it all
I didn’t know most of that. Thanks.
@@michaelgoyettemusic all good I'm old memory a bit foggy their be others who be able help
Yo!
Yo
The poofter comment John directed at the voice over guy (John Blackman) hit a nerve with Molly Meldrum (cowboy hat) because Molly is gay.
YO. I did not get a good impression of the Hey etc show.
What do you mean?
It looked like it was poorly organised @@michaelgoyettemusic
@@davidberesford7009 right….the Aussies seem to love it! :)
