My young niece spotted Kate walking through Melbourne Airport by herself a few years ago and being a fan, knew it was her birthday. She walked up to her and said 'Happy Birthday, Kate' and was rewarded with the biggest hug and thank you. Kate is a lovely lady. She always has been. I love her song *Bedroom Eyes*
Years ago we saw her walking down chapel street with her boyfriend. Me and my mates stuck our heads out the car window and sang You've abandoned me... love don't live here any more.... She cracked up laughing. 😁
I was in that 1992 production of JCS (one of the High Priests and Chorus Master) and am sitting right next to John Farnham in that clip. Glad you enjoyed. 🎶
@@paulmckinnon203 love this production ofJCS… Thank you for clarifying on the fact this was live… I requested this reaction, but wasn’t entirely sure if the actual song was performed live as it’s just as good if not better than the official album recording… but I guess I should have known as Daryl says at the end you guys were warming up with amazing grace 🤦🏼♀️ which by the way is phenomenal and the reason I requested this specific clip 😁
Oh ummm, Jon Stevens did this in the live shows in tight white leather pants…. Oh my!!! Jon is a legendary Aussie rocker. Please take a look at Jon & NoiseWorks! Such a fave. Jon Stevens, has to be one of the most underrated artist in Australia, he’s a huge talent and should have deserved much, much more recognition than he has. Kate Ceberano is also fabulous.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇺🇸🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
This is a performance from the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar. Kate Ceberano was 'Mary Magdalene' Jon Steven's was 'Judas' and John Farnham was Jesus. I saw this 3 times at the theatre. Jon Stevens is another great Aussie singer you need to check out. Still going strong today.
Also if you wanna hear Jon Stevens really kick it up vocally, listen to Hot Chilli woman, omg that song and his voice can rattle the roof off any stadium
This is the one I have been waiting for ...... The eargasm you got when Jon Stevens opened his mouth was perfect :) Now you have to go down the rabbit hole of Noiseworks, Icehouse , Baby Animals, BoomCrash Opera , 1927 and every other Classic Aussie band I can't think of
Jon Stevens is gorgeous. This is a such a high calibre version, - really beautiful. Kate Ceberano is the epitome of a pop superstar in Australia & seems like a lovely, bubbly person (& what a great choice for Jesus, - Jon Farnham!).
I had the absolutely pleasure of seeing this production live when I was about 9 years old and it ignited my love for musical theatre. Three absolute power house superstars together, along with the rest of the cast (Angry Anderson!), is a life defining moment. At the now named Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, my Dad and I jokingly renamed the musical "Jesus Christ, the Seats are Hard" but it's a soundtrack I carry with me 30 years later and still is on my iPod.
Lucky my parents dragged me along to Jesus Christ Superstar in the round in Sydney as a youngster. I’m a huge Farnham fan but Jon Steven’s stole the spotlight in this production. He was simply outstanding. Given the caliber of singer that Farnsy & Kate are that’s not an easy feat. Kiwi born but fronted the Aussie band Noiseworks. Great vocalist & exceptional performer. Love it when you hear a new Aussie/Kiwi singer & are blown away by their talent. Keep digging Nic. You’ve only scratched the surface 😉
" I’m a huge Farnham fan but Jon Steven’s stole the spotlight in this production." Such a great part in the musical and Jon is just the person to bring it, he has just the right delivery and presence.
Nice!! We had 2 fabulous Jesus Christ Superstar eras here - '73 with Marcia Hines, Jon English & Trevor White and 20 years later with this one in '92 with Kate, John and Jon.
I saw the original with Trevor White, Jon English and Michelle Fawdon (whom Marcia replaced) 4 times. Never seen anything like it. Not to mention the amazing and wonderful Reg Livermore who was Herod, John Paul Young and Stevie Wright. What a crew!
Jon stevens is amazing|! he is from the aussie band Noiseworks. Back in the day A lot of aussie singers would perform in Musical theatre as it was cheaper than having international tour groups to come over. hey Hey its saturday was a variety show that would have so much aussie talent perform! |The 80's and 90's was an exciting tie for Aussie music
I was wondering when this would be sent to you, fabulous isn’t it? Jon Stevens has some great stories about how John Farnham during rehearsals would be cracking jokes & trying to make Jon laugh & lose his concentration. Apparently John used to go around to all the cast members to make sure they were ok, he was very caring & great to work with.
Jon Stevens was originally from New Zealand but has lived in Australia for about 40 years. He has a huge voice. Check out his 1980s & 90s performances with his band Noiseworks! Kate Ceberano's father was from Hawaii, hence her lovely dark looks.
I love this. Three of the greatest performers to come out of Australia. I worked in the media in Melbourne and one of the highlights was being in the same studio as the great Kate Ceberano. She's a legend.
Jon Stevens is an amazing performer. His vocal talents are incredible. John F and Kate C are all truly talents singers. I love this clip and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever. They all should have been international superstars.

Ossie Ostrich is an Australian icon and has been Daryl Somers co-host since 1971. Ossie provided comic relief to Somer’s straight man. According to legend - “Ossie Ostrich stepped out of the suitcase and, as if under the control of a superior being, walked to the host set and looked directly into the left eye of Daryl Somers. "Well, I never!" said Daryl. "Oh you must have," said Ossie. And a link was formed that could only be broken by money. People who actually witnessed that moment say that a spark of electricity seemed to pass between the two. When asked, Daryl said he was not sure but Ossie distinctly remembers passing something.” 🤣🇦🇺
The best line I remember from Hey Hey was by John Blackman who did the voice overs. Something came up about the Lone Ranger and John immediately jumped in about once finding traces of Silver behind the Lone Ranger’s horse. It was a great double entendre about money and horse manure and we all knew from our childhood TV days that Silver was the Lone Ranger’s beloved horse. So quick!

Kate Cebrano was saying that, because of the schedule they all needed to be careful to manage their voices... everyone except The Voice... who could go flat out all day every day without a rest... he really was next level.

Jon Stevens is NZ born.. first single Jezebel then Montico Bay from the 70s.. Then Jon moved to Australia and the rest is history..
