There’s just something about this one that just hits the right spot for me. I like one of the live ones for the great a cappella finish by all three of them then there’s the annoying addition of the tv station putting up the lotto results halfway through (such an Australian thing to do 😂). This one is intimate, film noir-ish and I think it shows off John’s voice better than the live ones. However, it’s the only exception, otherwise the live shows are the ones to watch. Awesome. Never get sick of watching people react to these legends. John's range and control is unbelievable. Jimmie's power and soul is off the charts. So different, yet they blend so well. Don't forget Diesel of the guitar and vocals. Another amazing talent.

John Farnham has one of the most technically versatile voices in music .
John has sung with Tom Jones among many others World renowned artists. The guitarist, American born Mark Lizotte is known as Diesel (Diesel & the Injectors band, is Jimmy’s brother in law and a great performer in his own right.
I can’t hear the studio version without mentally adding in all the vocal adlibs from the live versions.

You got alittle taste of John Farnhams diversity,but boy oh boy,you have no idea what he can pull of,not only successfully,but perfectly.
He is a master at his craft,& has done mind blowing covers of AC/DC,& Led Zeppelin.
Honestly they have to be watched,to be believed.

John can sing any genre…his voice is a gift from God. John could sing the phone book and it would be amazing!
They can both do that, match whoever they're singing with. And don't forget Johnny Diesel on guitar, Jimmy's brother-in-law. Also on the version of "Simply the Best" with Jimmy Barnes and Tina Turner.
They do have bucketloads of talent, and have been sharing this talent with us Aussies for the last 40 or so years. We love both of them to bits.

I saw you had mentioned you've already seen a live version of this. The one performed on Australia's old variety show Hey Hey It's Saturday is the go-to imo as they finish the song as an acapella trio with Diesel joining them. It is brilliant.
Some of Farnsey's best work is in his duets. He is always authentic but also has such amazing chemistry with his singing partners. Check out his duet with Olivia Newton-John doing Please Don't Ask Me. Absolutely mesmerising ✌️

If you find the "Hay Mate" benefit concert from 2019 with john, he was 70 years old, started his 5 song set with "We will Rock you" by queen, and finished with "A long way to the top" by AC/DC and still sounded absolutely amazing

The guitarist is Diesel, Jimmy’s brother-in-law. Their wives are sisters.
John has the most amazing vocal range. He can sing anything & I have been a fan for 50 years. His concerts are jam-packed with middle aged fans who grew up with him, like me. There is a new documentary called John Farnham: Finding The Voice. You should watch it if you can. His late manager & best friend Glenn Wheatley helped revive his career (thank God!). His belief in John’s talent was amazing & prophetic.

You need to check out John's version of Black Dog. Many say it is better than Robert Plant and that's no mean feat.

Our John can sing anything asked of him. We all think he’s very special,been to several of his concerts and was blown away every time.
Jimmy and John are absolute legends. John's voice is off the charts. Jimmy's a big admirer of Sam and Dave. In fact he did a great duet with Sam Moore, Soothe Me. Sam's in his 80's here and singing as great as ever. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

If you want to see some of Farnham's versatility try his versions of Black Dog (Led Zeppelin) , Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar, When The War Is Over (Live) which is a a Cold Chisel song). That's 3 to start with , but it could easily be twenty.
John can sing anything, from Classical to Rock and all the nuisances in between he is that good. Diesel on guitar is amazing and has a voice to match. Jimmy is just always class. Yes John is a chameleon! I feel like it might have been difficult for him to figure out an artistic direction at times because he can literally do anything. A recommendation for next is the remastered video of him singing Reminiscing when he was in Little River Band, different again from what you've seen so far.

John could sing the phone book. Literally!!! He doesn’t copy songs he makes them his own. He can sing any genre, rock. Pop. Opera. Musical theatre (he played Jesus in the Lloyd - Webber musical Jesus Christ Superstar). Ballads, he loves Stevie Wonder and often performs one of Stevie’s songs acapella with his entire band. He sings gospel and warms up his voice to Led Zeppelin’s Black dog and does it better than Robert Plant!! He sings country. He’s naturally brilliant and we love him♥️love from Oz🇦🇺.
The guitarist is Mark Lizotte aka "Diesel". A beautiful singer and guitarist in his own right. Also Jimmy Barnes' brother-in-law. Has released many albums over the years.

Diesel is playing the guitar he joins the singing at the end. He is jimmy’s brother in law and is a major singer in his own right. Diesel is magic on the guitar.and as a singer he is every bit as talented

Perhaps you are starting to comprehend what all Australia knows; Farnsey is a freak of nature, who worked very hard at his craft for decades.
He can sing anything from love songs with Olivia Newton-John (The Main Event); semi-Opera with Australia's Phantom Of The Opera (Anthony Warlow, also at The Main Event); Black Dog; gospel (Amazing Grace with Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field)
PLUS he's a genuinely nice guy.

There are at least 3 versions of John and Jimmy doing this song and they all are different and equally good and worth listening to. John can sing in 20 different categories including opera, see duets with Anthony Warlow.
Both have a long catologue of duets with international superstars and always blend in perfectly whether it is Tom Jones, Tina Turner or Pavarotti.
Farnham is more versatile and possibly more skilled, but Jimmy can always massage his gravel to suit, use his sweeter rock voice as he did with Tina Turner or use his high falsetto which often sounds like a female blues master from the 1950’s or 60’s..... sometimes likened to Aretha’s highest head voice.
Together ....... pure magic.

If you want to be really surprised then have a listen to Johns version of Black dog . It was recorded by a sound man when John was doing it as a sound check. Its not often you can say a cover is better than the original and it might be sacrilege to say it but after listening to the original John is better.
