8 years ago, my aunt passed, and she who was the queen of huge, layered German Chocolate Cakes. I found her partial recipe but couldn't come close. This recipe hit! If she was here, she'd wink and say, you got it, girl! Thank you~
This brought tears to my eyes for so many reasons. My mother-in-law used to make German Chocolate Cake that was out of this world. She passed away 8 years ago and I can still smell her food and hear her say, "There ain't nothing to this!" when she was showing me how to cook. This tutorial really made me miss her even more!!
Same here @linda Maddox my Mom and oldest sister would make me one for my birthday. Soon as I seen the can of Pet Milk.. Pure love 💘 I'm 61 and still get it right
Omg my mom made a German chocolate cake every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She passed away 5 years ago and it still hurts. Watching you make this cake bought back so many memories
Hello all. A little late to the game, but I made this cake for Thanksgiving 2022. I paused and played the video and made it right alongside you. Keep up the good work. I love the old-school recipes. I always look for videos like this when I'm trying new recipes out. There are 2 different types of chefs on UA-cam. The ones that spend all their money on fancy camera equipment and none on the ingredients. And the real MVPs that just throw a camera up and invest in really good quality ingredients.
I made this recipe step by step for my step dad 2 years ago Father’s Day, he passed that September. The last text he sent me was about how good this cake was and to keep this recipe. I’m emotional even watching this video… Thank you for this recipe❤
My great grandma just passed last week at 97. She was well known for her German chocolate cake. It’s my dad’s favorite. I can’t wait to make this for him. Just watching this video made my heart smile ❤
YES!!! This is the authentic recipe with the bar of unsweetened chocolate and folding in the egg whites, plus buttermilk! Well worth the extra steps! I’m going to make one. I usually do the cake hacks but this is so special!
This is the cake i requested for my 21 birthday that my mother in law made ! My daughter was born the next day. I love German Chocolate Cake. Thank you,YUMMY😋
CHEF,THANK-YOU FOR YOUR STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS!!! YOU TOOK THE FEAR OUT OF ME,ABOUT MAKING THE ICING FOR THE CAKE; BUT, NOW I THINK I CAN,!!!ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!!!
I finally made this cake. Oh my goodness! This is the best cake I’ve ever made! I can’t believe how soft and fluffy the cake part is! I made a couple of mistakes, but it still worked out. My frosting got too thick in the pan, so it didn’t flow like yours did. Also, I got sweetened coconut by mistake. But it still was delicious. I think every dish in my kitchen is dirty, but it’s worth it! Thank you!
I love cooking and baking... I actually graduated from Culinary Institute in 2003 here in my hometown of New Orleans... I'm so eager to try some of your recipes... I will as soon as our power is restored in Louisiana...💙
Thank you, so much for taking time to show each step. My husband ask for a german chocolate cake from scratch for his birthday. The cake was wonderful!

Thank you so much for all you do, God bless you.
