Our recipes are very similar, except I use the original Bakers German chocolate recipe which called for 2 sticks of butter in the frosting and that's a must for me and the original recipe called for 2 1/2 cups of sifted all purpose flour and I use full fat buttermilk no low fat or 2%. I know this is an older video but I just found you because of watching Chris Cooks4u videos. I don't see where you put the Bakers German Chocolate bar in your recipe description. Great recipe, I will be watching more videos.

Great recipe! Thanks for sharing. When using parchment paper, I inset it after I've sprayed my pans, then lightly spray the paper to keep the cake from sticking to it.
My cake turned out great , so did my coconut pecan icing. I did only 2 -9 X2 inch pans and it rose quite a bit1-3/4 inches, I measured. I only put the coconut pecan frosting on the top and the middle. Then decorated the top and middle edges with larger pieces of pecan.
I believe I hold it up in the video. My apologies. I will add it. It’s BAKER’s Sweet German Chocolate Bar. It’s in a green box. You will find it near the bars of white chocolate and pecans. Varnett Edwards hi the first set of egg whites are folded in the cake. The second set of egg whites are not used only the yolks for the frosting. I make an egg white omelette. Enjoy

No greasing the pan just a sheet of parchment on the bottom. Take a knife and go around the pan after its cool and it will come right out. My pans are non stick by the way.
I don't know how in the world you missed her adding the chocolate unless you were just trolling. I think this cake is a little to hard for you. Try using the boxed instead. Just a thought.
