Nice been looking at those potenza sports for the guila great review
Quick note to say thanks for the video. Purchased a set of potenza sport tyres today also for a Quadrifoglio
Awesome. Let me know how you like them
@@bhvrdr very happy with the tyres. Was a great buy. Thanks again for your video and heads up on these tyres 👍
5:57 "The sidewall is just in Bridgestone fashion very stiff" I loved that in the Potenzas RE050 on my 630i. Then I replaced them with PS4 ZP and these are unfortunately floaty. When they wear out, I'll check the Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires.
Thanks for the video. I recently got a set of Conti Extreme Contact Sport 02 ( the newest one) and I am not happy. The Contis are very sticky, but the sidewalls are not firm. I am thinking of switching to these Potenzas in order to get a firmer sidewall. The tire rack reviews of the Conti DW (and extreme contact sport) are pretty true...sidewall is soft and forgiving, not sporty. I have a 2019 Infiniti Q50 and I am jealous of your glorious engine noise. My car is too quiet. I can't hear my downshifts like yours! Pretty cool.
Yeah i has similar results with the contis. The potenza sidewalls are crazy thick.
Excellent review 👌
Thanks!
I recall when I did HPDE with the NE Quattro club 10+ years ago there were several iterations of hp tires from Michelin, Bridgstone, etc over a short time period. Not so imo lately. Thanx for the tests. bpp
You bet bob. Good to see you here
How have these held up almost 2 years later? Been a bridgestone fan for the last few years and quite interested in these. I'm in New England and certainly see some of those cold temperatures in the 40s in the early spring and fall. Any issues with cold negatively impacting these tires when stored?
They are pretty durable imo and probably one step below the pilot sport 4s. Storing should be fine although a tire that performs maybe 85 percent as well as these in summer/ track with year round use ability and storage is the pilot sport 4 all season. It's really not much of a compromise at all in summer performance now
Thanks for the review. Are the Potenza noisier than the PS4S now that the miles have piled on?
Id say they're actually very similar. I have another alfa on ps4s and ive noticed they got noisier now so theyre now very similar
@@bhvrdr many thanks for your reply. I am on PS4S now and have been contemplating the Potenza. You have helped me make the decision to switch.
i plan to get these for my new mustang gt.....probably the best tires available in 285/40/19 size for my square setup
I think youll like them. Those cars need good tires due to their power and weight distribution
Hello there
If im going with 245/40/19 all square with my Q4 awd, its should be fine , not gona rubbing right? Any brand tires
Thanks
hey man just see your video ...I have the fk8 type r and I want to order the potenza sport ..what is your thoughts after driving the tyres for a long time now..
Theyre a great competitor to the ps4s. Id buy these over the contis but probably still choose the ps4s for all out dry grip
It’s been a couple months since you posted, wondering how they’re holding up and your thoughts in general? I just ordered a set to try out myself.
So far so good. Id say the only possible criticism is slight ride stiffness but i was hesitant to say that because the electronic dampers were recently recalibrated to stiffer settings so it may be nothing. Theyre holding up really well though and just incredible in the rain
@@bhvrdr great to hear! I’m hoping for good wet weather performance, but my main desire is a tire that breaks away predictably at the limit (in the dry).
I finally got mine mounted up and have had several wet days, but not a lot of dry time on them yet. So far I’m super happy. I appreciate the sidewall stiffness as I was able to drop a few clicks in my compression damping settings. It seems like a really nice balance. They are phenomenal in the rain, compared to the well worn Advan V105’s I was running; I never really liked the Advans and found them to be very disappointing in nearly every situation. They were very unpredictable at the limit and though they were decent in the wet when fresh, they did NOT wear well!!!! Sketchy is how I would describe them👍.
Why this popped up when i wrote Potenza S02 ? These are something else
I'm particularly jealous of your lack of traction control! Any pointers?
Here ya go...

Thanks👍 that's the comprehensive thread that tells me not to try🙂
Hi for you what is the best between potenza sport and michelin ps4s?
Id probably pick the ps4s for perhaps ultimate grip and top notch nvh and the potenza sport for the ultra stiff sidewall with awesome turn in response. Flip a coin really. Both outstanding.
hello! can i ask, which tyre has thicker sidewalls/ is wider? trying to not get any stretch 👍🏻
Potenza sport has both thicker sidewalls and is wider. 285/30/19 ps4s is 9.8" wide while potenza sport is 10.6"
@@bhvrdr wow that is a substantial difference. thank you
@@bhvrdr potenza re 760?
@@guillermoverde81 no, new potenza sport. It replaces their old top tire s04. Competes with Michelin ps4s
@@bhvrdr strange, for 285/40/19 that I am planning to buy they are actually quite narrow compared to others
MPSS 11.2 vs BPS 9.5 vs RE050A 9.8 vs Ecsta PS91 10.3
I wouldn't really rely on the tirerack info though, for pirelli p-zero they have 5 tires in 285/40/19 with the exact same name and they have 9.7, 9.7, 9.9, 10.3, 10.5 which is kinda hard to believe
I also hate the stretch look but 285/40/19 should not look too stretched on 9.5" wheel no matter what and I think the BPS is better then MPSS for daily car being much newer tire
How noisy are they on the road compared to michelan pilot sport 4 ?
Id say maybe 5 percent noisier. Extremely similar. Almost impossible to tell the difference.
So for now what you Will choose ps4s or Bridgestone potenza sport ?
Tough decision. I'll probably try ps4s again just to compare again. They're both great.
if you can get ps4s in your size get those, you will not regret that, if not then the BPS is the next best choice imo (probably won't last as much but little cheaper)
How do you have 60tw tyres that are 4 years old?
Car doesn't get driven much and has two sets of wheels
How is the Potenza tread life after a year? I like them for the stiffness and responsiveness, but I hear the tread life is bad, and it doesn't have a tread warranty.
They're wearing well. Maybe they will end up 10-20 percent worse than the 30k mile Michelins not sure yet but so far so good at 10k on a staggered setup (which Michelin would warranty to 15k).
@@bhvrdr Thank you. Do you think they'll last to 20k miles? I also have a staggered setup, and 20k is good enough for me to get them
@@salmon4o4 id say thats about what they'll last.
@@bhvrdr think the claimed thread life means shit, I've seen people get 15k out of 30k tires on street, probably better to look at UTQG rating number and compare the life from that to other tires in consideration
@@HeadBassVTEC true but dont forget utqg is based on the tire manufacturers own baseline of treadwear so you cant actually compare them across brands. A 300 treadwear Michelin would not be the same as a 300 treadwear Hoosier. They get to base the rating on their own product lines baseline
Hello, is it true that potenza is so loud tyre? Thanks
I don't feel its loud at all.
Been running the potenza sport on my rs3 for over a year now and i need to get rid of them. Has made the ride far too stiff. i have adjustable dampers and even on softest setting its far too stiff. have heard after they begin to wear out the ride quality becomes like this.
Thanks for the long term feedback. How many miles on them before ride fell off
@@bhvrdr about 6000 miles started to fall off. Ive done over 9000 now and its dreadful
Bridgestone may wear out faster than the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.
Yes time will tell. They may last longer too. Historically their max performance lineup has lasted a long time for wear, particularly under performance driving conditions but this is a new animal so we'll see
I hear reports accelerated wear at the track around 10% more than the PS4S. Still not bad.
@@hellobooom they are definitely not for track use (they melt bad). But for street use they look awesome
Doesn't look to have much tread depth for a new tyre.
Similar tread depth as any max performance summer tire at 6.35mm new. Some new summer tires are up to 7.5mm new. That said tread depth does not always correspond to performance nor to longevity. That depends on compound just as much.
I believe the PS4S had a little deeper tread
It seems to me that the Bridgestone tire was made in Poland, and this is not good. It would be better if it was made in Japan, because I trust the Japanese quality, as it is not comparable to the poor Polish quality.
There are some absolutely incredibly good quality products out of from tires to exhaust systems somewhat unmatched so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
