On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

They have made a flight simulator for the Ornithopters of Dune, they're like super advanced Apache's
Don't know if DCS do things like that thought it might interest you,
Their flight capabilities are Awesome 🤩
From Scotland 🏴😁👍👍
You should look under the CP/G controls and find the "Sunvisor" (now that I double checked I don't see it for the CP/G, only the pilot for some reason). It does wonders to keep the glare off of the screens while you're looking at targets.
GS and Casmo showing the real synergy that a pilot and gunner on an attack helicopter have to have when in combat. Well done to the both of you!
It would be nice if you interviewed Casmo about his two tours and his experience as a combat pilot.
It's classified. GS could've, and Casmo then would've had to kill GS, and what a tragedy that'd be to us all.
I’d like to know what he thought about the cannon on the Apache. Did he have jamming issues with it? Was it accurate enough or hard to keep on target?
@@Ghoster311 its an area weapon, not a point weapon, dont take it as a sniper, its a grenade launcher which kills everything in the area
"Well getting shot wasn't a highlight."
It's not all classified, Casmo has been on the Fighter Pilot Podcast. Also this is a gaming channel not a podcast??
The dogfight videos are awesome of course, but these Casmo team up videos are really something else
Casmo's instinct gives a sense of constant battlefield awareness, positional aspects/angles - keys to survival. If the mission is accomplished, live to fight another day.
Unless GS is your WSO! 😂
I got a tour of AH-64 from a british pilot once. Explained to me that Apache can shoot missiles from behind the hills and hit targets it can't even see.
Yep. The Longbow pod on the top of the rotor lets them peek over terrain.
A forward Apache can also designate targets for Apaches to the rear to prosecute. So not every Apache needs the longbow radar.
Longbow & Datalink, basically if any optics with datalink connected to it has eyes on targets, targets are dead.
I am one of the approach controllers that works the AH64's out of Hanchey AAF. They're all over the place down here in southeast Alabama. They don't get a lot of IFR training, but when we work them, it always a good time. CASMO, hello from OZR Approach.
I want to see you guys absolutely destroy folks in PVP😂😂😂
I vote for that, It'll be cool TBH 👍
+1
How? This is an anti vehicle helo not an anti air helo. It doesn't have any offensive A2A capabilities.
@@deekamikaze and even if it did, it would have a really hatd time with a mach 3+ aim-120 coming from an f-16 at 40000 ft
@@deekamikaze Well... there is this one module that hardly anyone touches called "combined arms".
There is some nostalgia. Love seeing the 1st Cav patch on the nose. I served as the ADA Officer (Warrior 3Y) of the 1st Cav Aviation Brigade in OIFII in Baghdad, at the time we were the 4th BCT of the 1st Cavalry Division, later re-designated as the Air Cavalry Brigade. Have many good pilot friends of AH-64's, OH-58's and UH-60's. Our commander COL James McConville flew quite often, he liked missions that took him near Sauder City (nicknamed the Sauder City Multi-Use Range, because you always got to shoot something), great boss, probably why he's now the Army Chief of Staff. "Warriors!"
I know some people whining on Reddit about being shot down by ground units in the Apache that need to watch these 2 videos with a real Apache pilot(and your recent A-10 video) They need to see how you actually engage targets. They’re the type of players that want to be able to just fly in and hover over targets destroying them at their leisure. They want ED to change the game rather than themselves actually learn and adapt to figure out the right way to attack. Can’t really change their opinion, they want it to be more game than simulator.
I tried telling them that real pilots don’t fly through areas that aren’t secured, and that Warthog and Apache pilots have tactics to “reduce” the risk of taking fire. You can’t absolutely negate that risk unless you don’t attack at all. They just can’t seem to comprehend that you can’t just run in guns hot and not get shot down. There is a reason that nearly 100 A-10’s in the AF have received damage from ground fire, a few actually being lost and more being beyond repair. Those same people think that just because only 8 A-10 were actually shot down that it means they should be mostly immune to ground fire. They really cannot comprehend that even just one guy with a rifle poses a significant threat to both attack platforms. One guy with an AK can take down an Apache, or do enough damage to a Warthog to send it home.
I know it shouldn’t bother me, but there are just SOOO many people whining and trying to force ED to make changes rather than themselves, and instead of adapt to the situation and learn/practice they just want the game to change to suit them. It’s annoying as hell.
thats the world today brother, people expect things to change to suit the individual not the individual adapt to the situation/problem solve. it's the root problem with a lot of issues in society today in my humble opinion.
One of the most transformers moments in aviation is those pylons moving under Apache wings 😅 almost like a preying mantis twitching it's arms before making the attack...
I notice it takes some time to put the crosshairs on target as the Apache is moving. Is there not some type of stabilizer the gunner can use to more quickly laze targets?
That’s the LMC, linear motion compensator I just suck with it.
I think I have seen it before, it will be a X around the crosshairs like when GS point track the enemy. But it tracks where ever you looking at and easier to line up targets.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Given by the movements on the controls, looks like you had to wrestle it a bit at times
@@bright2624 the X is actually saying the laser is lasing. The LMC is indicated by 4 lines around the tips of the cross hairs
The LMC is a b1tch to use. That's why GS was using to stabilize a bit before using the point track. These Limas are and absolute blessing since you don't need to keep lasing the target all the way to impact.

High off boresight Hellfire!!!!
70°
I love seeing the apache come home with empty racks. It makes me think how much that would cost, then I remember how almost every hellfire was one tank and how much that costed the enemy.
just a hint, as far as I know you don't need a clear line of sight for those hellfires. If you can give it kind of the correct direction and distance it is enough, the missile will in any way search for it target for itself.
So if you see just a small part of a tank, you can lase it and then fire, the missile will search in this area and find the tank and hit it exatly where it should. Or if you don't see the target at all, you can lase somethingh nearby, for example a tree next to it. The missile gets the direction and distance and will search with its own radar for the target there and find it even you don't see it at all.
At least this is how it should be as far as I know :)
Finally.. ❤ my two DCS heroes together in the mighty Apache 😊 thank you guys
I’m loving these Apache videos. I humbly request for more of them. The fact you’re flying with a real Apache pilot too is just *chef’s kiss*
1:00 That song in the intro has become synonymous with "GS". Anytime I hear it anywhere else on YT, I think of your videos! You are the #1 DCS youtuber imo!! :D You rock man - you deserve 1M+ subs! :D
So amazing having a real Apache pilot. More of this please!!!! Thanks to Casmo for serving your country.
I would love Casmo to explain the differences between piloting a real life 64 compared to a DCS Apache to know what the differences are. Would also be interesting comparisons when thinking of things like the SU-57, 22 raptor ETC
@@RW-zn8vy I have not, just saw this video and found out he was a real pilot today
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks to your videos I recently picked up an x56 Hotas and the fa18c! I just finished landing the plane three times in a row, taking the learning tutorials really slow to try to absorb it all… thank you for these videos!
That battlefield soundtrack still gives me goosebumps, so many years later.... Love the video and the content GS!
The way that ZSU just snapped to you sent a chill down my spine.
I like how the Apache was so many Hellfires you don't even need to prioritise targets and can fire as many as you need
Got me a trial of the AH-64...Oof...hard to fly out of the box. (that's what is making it fun). Nice seeing the potential of a two person crew! Watching lot of Casmo's video's to bring my up to speed.
I love these videos! What an incredible source of information and invaluable experience Casmo is. If you aren’t subbed to his channel I cannot recommend it highly enough :D As a wannabe chopper pilot there’s nothing better on UA-cam!
Another fantastic round of mopping up with Apache. With the radar guided hellfires, the Apache is now more competitive against the SHORADS. I wonder how the Longbow radar will change things when it arrives.
When that Battlefield Theme kicks in!!!
In case anyone is wondering...this is why the USAF doesn't want to mess with the A-10 anymore. The capabilities of the Army's Helos are insane and multirole fighters can mop up the rest.
completely agree. Though I can't deny the Thunderbolt has a very special place in my heart and im glad its still being used today although sparingly.
The A-10 is not needed anymore.
The Apache is an incredible machine and certainly has a place. But to say it can replace the A10 is....just....asinine.
The AH64 can't match the A10 in combat range, weapon deployment range, payload, ordinance variety, and survivability.
@R W so....if other fighters are better than the A10, and the A10 is better than the AH64, then why is the A10 not necessary but the AH64 is? That's a flawed logic if I've ever seen one.
Also, other fighters will never be as good at CAS as the A10 (or similar aircraft). The CAS mission is not the same as the attack or strike mission. Currently there is no other airframe that can do CAS as effective as the A10.
NOW, if you want to argue that the concept of CAS is obsolete, now we can talk. There's an argument for that, tho I'm not sold yet.
@R W ok so your problem isn't with the A-10 but rather the very specific mission of CAS....which there is some evidence that suggests modern air defenses make CAS platforms obsolete...I can definitely agree with that....BUT if we are going to say the A-10 is no longer needed, then neither is the Apache...in fact, the Apache is more vulnerable.
It's also important the we understand that Close Air Support (CAS) is not the same as a strike mission....just because they're both air to ground combat doesn't make them remotely similar in requirements...just as SEAD has it's own requirements...the A10 absolutely cannot conduct SEAD. An F15, 16, or 18 aren't gonna do CAS as well as an A10....they're just not. Otherwise they would have been doing them all. Loiter time, relatively slow speeds, payload, and armor simply make the A10 the best CAS platform ever made. But I'm not sure how much longer the CAS mission will work in modern combat.
I love seeing these birds fly around, AH-64s and lancasters sometimes fly around where i live
That was very cool, flying with a real vet. I got flashbacks myself from the Battlefield theme at the end, I was semi-pro at Battlefield 1942 haha.
The suns glare off the instrument panel is so cool, this is an amazing video
Experience makes a difference ❤
We need some Firebirds scenarios! Taken on a Draken or fight off Stoller in his Murder machine MD-500
Love the 1st Cav insignia
Nice shooting and flying! That landing at the end was butter smooth!
The British Army Air Corps (AAC) actually bought a more capable version of the AH-64D, and only now is our Army catching up with the AH-64E.
The Marines updated their Cobra to be a HIGHLY effective gunship as well - yes, even rivaling and surpassing the Apache in multiple areas. Their use cases overlap in some areas and in others they are used differently. The AH-1 is much faster and more maneuverable, but the 64 has a better cannon and cannon targeting system. The AH-1 can shoot AIM-9s and carry a shit ton of weapons as well, including the hellfire.. I'd love to see it come to DCS as it is a VERY capable helo. Same with it's sister UH-1 upgrade (the UH-1 Venom). It's also super capable and is very good at what it does as well.
@@karlchilders5420 Lacks the radome of the Apache though, which makes it less survivable in peer conflicts (although rotary wing aviation in general isn’t exactly survivable in a peer environment).
@@jonathanpfeffer3716 You need to go learn about that helicopter. It's clear you (a) didn't read what I said and (b) don't know enough about the viper. I didn't fly those but I have flown IN one a few times - a guy I went to flight school with GOT helos and went to Pendleton to fly AH1W and later AH1Zs, he took me up. I took HIM in my D model Hornet and in the McDonnell Douglas (back then) sim.
That was great, and intense at times, really enjoyed that!
You guys are a great team, hope we get to see more collaborations..
GS: "Oh he dead."
CASMO: "Wut?"
GS: "I mean, Shack."
- "Where is the enemy?"
- "I don't know!"
- "Private Johnson, stand up."

That was amazing you guys!!! Holy shit, had a smile on my face the whole time!!!👍🤘🔥🔥🔥
that was a fun mission, thank you for the VOD. 🥃🥃
You know if they send Casmo and GS shit is about to get real!
Cosmo, ty for your service brother!!
That thing is such a BEAST!!! I'm loving my A-10 as well!!
For those foolish enough to shoot at you, a favorite line from Kurt Russell in "Big Trouble in Little China" comes to mind: "Son of a B*tch Must Pay!"
Recon by Fire was the way we did it back in my day. me in a 58A and 2 cobras leap frogging each other with one always having guns on me. When i got shot at, they knew where to shot. Its just not fare now days for the other guy, he is just dead.
So awesome to see you both in the Apache!
Well done Video. Like the 3th person view to show the action.
Like the Apache videos! Sweet you met a real Apache pilot too.
If there is a KA-52 or Mi-28 mod, I’d like to see a “dogfight” between them and the Apache
Love the 1st Cav skin. Was their neighbor, 4th ID
Imagine the Apache was in battlefield 4 instead of the viper; god that would’ve been a beast.
Another Apache vid? You spoil us so GS
3:52 "he dead"
12:20 now i cant get that meme outta my head. thx.
This is some really interesting content here 💯💯💯. Thank you for your service Casmo 💯💯💯🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 you and G.S are just awesome!!!!!
Oh my! Another video with Casmo?! 🤩❤️
I like how Casmo fly low. I need to get more comfortable doing the same...
Loving the Apache content thank you. 👍
Great team work guys!
Anti Tree Guided Missile, the latest weapon in the arsenal of the professional arborist.
I'd love to see some similar content with the HIND again! That analog soviet beast is awesome!
Can't wait until you can pair those Longbow Hellfires with the Longbow Radar, then you will see some great technology.
Wow, talk about wildly unfair. Getting a REAL Apache pilot who is ALSO good at video games to be your driver. How many Aces do you have up your sleeve, GS? 😂
I can't get enough ground attack stuff! Next level with a human pilot too 😮🎉
I think a AH-64 vs F-15 will be a great video. The USAF did trials with that in I believe the 90s. The Apache just terms on a dime
GS and Casmo are the best combination!!
Would love to fly this thing, but I sadly just don't have a PC strong enough to handle such a complex module
@@RW-zn8vy well… gotta try it in the 14 day trial and see if it’s running smoothly
@@RW-zn8vy I read in the forums, that the Apache takes very much VRAM, which I don’t have much of. My current PC is at the lower end. I run modules like the F-16 on mid-ish settings at around 50FPS in singleplayer.
See, I ❤ the Apache the way folks love the A-10 😅
This thing is so badass. It's the last thing you want to fight against, especially if it's carrying 16 advanced Hellfires 💀
Sixteen Hellfires. Back in the old days, a Soviet tank company/battalion was in for a very bad day.
Back in the old days, a Soviet tank company/battalion would be covered by layered air defence including multiple Shilka's/Tunguska and BUK's.
@@Крайвус Hence American gunship tactics of the day. Shoot behind cover (like a hill) with fire-and-forget missiles like the Hellfire that allowed minimal exposure to such AA defenses. No need to continually lase the target to impact like Soviet helos would need to . Pop up, designate target, fire, pop back down under safe cover, rinse-wash-repeat.
@@kgjung2310 Except the fact that only one the latest modification of Apache with Longbow radar can do that. And it was introduced well after the collapse of the USSR so it couldn't possibly face Soviets in combat. But the newest Russian SAM's (like latest S300 and S400) also have the capability to shoot from from beyond the line of horizon (the missile is being shot vertically and then it seeks that target and falls from above or smt like that). Attack and defence capabilities always go hand to hand. P.S. Correction: Soviet/Russian attack helicopters can shoot from the cover, although they do it differently. They receive the coordiantes and than the computer calculates optimal trajectory for the launch of the pack of unguided missiles from beyond the visual range. It prooved to be quite efficient, surprisingly.
Thanks for another awesome video!
Nice Battlefield soundtrack at the end
This duo is impeccable, incredible and wildy entertaining 👏 👌
Hellfire Missiles are really cool.
Great video, as always
First time I’ve seen a GS video viewcount in the single digits…
I don't even play DCS, this is just a good watch haha.
I could watch this all day 👍
maybe i missed it on some of the other videos...but is there no head mounted display to control the cannon or the TADS? or just not in use on these videos?
its probably not the most stable but it looks the coolest.
You guys make a great team! Hope there's more collaborative content ahead.
Who knows maybe Casmo and GS in AH-64 might be able to get that felon or even a raptor...
How about a video with the AH-1Z?
i wish they made a 'arcade' mode for the apache in DCS, i have the Apache in my library but i can't seem to overcome the steep learning curve to really appreciate it. the hind is far easier and thus my go to heli in DCS.
That was a hell a shot WOW
Keep them coming, these are great!
Anyone know why the hellfires make that immediate turn after launching? Is it to mask the direction of the Apache?
I realy enjoy your A-10 and AH-64 videos. please brng more of them 😃
at 2:23 which key did he pressed to get a point track on the target?
more. More. MOREEEEEE love this Apache content MORE. Its almost as good as the F-14
A tanks worst nightmare: an AH-64D Apache attack helicopter.
PLEASE recreate the US military’s tests of rotary vs fixed wing air to air combat.
Here, hold this Maverick for me.
Really cool mission. I think it would be really cool to see you guys do a mission where you are working together with some A-10s to clear out an area of enemies. You would be picking off some targets with your hellfires, while also spotting and pointing out other targets that are better suited for the A-10's weapons. Like you might find a big cluster of enemy vehicles and tell the A-10s to drop a CBU-97 right on that area. Or laser a target and have an A-10 drop a GBU with the laser code you are using. Maybe also have them do a gun run on some tents and supply trucks if you come across a set of tents like you did in this mission.
Shared lasing / bomb truck air units are the future. Apache or the new radar block F16 targetting while A10s, old MiGs etc hurl bombs over the treelines
Last video he done with casmo had A10s....
Sorry get what you mean now. More interaction between the A10 and Apache
Dominant and amazing. When it’s not down for repair and maintenance 😂
Amazing as always!!!!!!
One helicopter demolished an armored company and AA support. Talk about return on investment.
Great video Gents, can I just ask how do you do that lock with the TADS where brackets is drawn around the target ? thanks in advance
isn't the Hellfire with the white head supposed to be the longbow radar guided version ?
