Every gun is different. Some were tack drivers, some were completely off. That's why we test fired a burst into a field after leaving the fob - you never knew which type of gun you had.

The rounds the Apache fires are also explosive rounds if I'm not mistaken. They don't have to hit a target directly. If you're a soft tissue living being the shrapnel will do some damage.

You needed to take a closer look the enemy only attacked the port-a-podies, the troops are not happy. On a side note the MRE storage facility did get destroyed so moral did improve.

@@FTC_Yoguurt Kevlar and light armor. It does in fact possess this. The parts that you can “drive a screwdriver” are obviously not deemed necessary to armor. And it’s not throughout the airframe. It’s not flying around with lvl IV equivalent plates all around. The only really solid hard armor is the armored glass and titanium tubs that the pilot and gunner’s seat sit in. Please be knowledgeable before spouting stuff off.

Finally got a pc today, finally got dcs and waiting for my hotas to come next week so I’m using a controller mouse and keyboard lol pretty clunky but I’m having so much fun
US apache fires a much tighter grouping compared to the UK version. UK apache deliberately spreads the rounds as they're basically grenades so they aim to separate each round by 5-10 meters per burst.
To be more precise, that is an Apache Longbow. Instead of a laser mounted sight it uses radar, clouds and smoke doesn't block its view. It's the bulb on top of the blades. AH-64D

@@denkeylee Laser/Radar TADS targeted laser guided Hellfires it looks like. Radar hellfires have a solid nose cone, not sure what the weaps page and firing procedures are for them, I've only dealt with the laser guided variants.
When shooting with the Apache, by lowering your altitude you will increase the hit probability dramatically, due to decreasing the angle of engage(this is a made-up name, but you get the principal). To avoid retaliation, you can increase your distance, longitude-wise.
Rest you guys notice when the arty started dropping the gomers did a "nope" and turned around? I never noticed DCS npc infantry actually trying to avoid fire.
@@Blackjack701AD what are you talking about? The f-35 has one of the lowest crash rates per flight hour of any aircraft in the US arsenal. You only think it crashes a lot because a 50 year old f-16 crashing is barely news, but an f-35 crashing definitely is.
I’ve avoided DCS as I just don’t think I’ll be able to fly a plane, but seeing this video makes be want to get it for the Apache. I’ve been gaming for decades, but would I be in a world of struggle if I jump straight into getting this DLC?
The main thing with helicopters is needing some form of anti-torque controls. If you can get a stick that has a Z axis or rudder pedals, then you should be set. There are people who play with controllers though, and I don't understand how they can do it.
You are motivated enough. All you need is to start and see how it goes. DCS also offers a trial system where you can try out every aircraft free for two weeks each so that you could try the Apache first and after the 2 weeks something else
Area spread mg's have allways been effective. The GPMG M60 was/is a prime example. Mag 58 GPMG as well. The bren gun was dead accurate but a prime example of being too accurate. In theory it could fire one round after the other through the same bullet hole. Never happened of course but it required more effort to spread rounds.
Sadly, the Chain Gun didn't seem to be very effective against the Troops. One would think there'd be a bit of Splash Damage if the round landed within a few feet of you (them) ? Rockets would be very effective against them though. 😁

As a mechanic and crewchief of an AH-64 E this is so accurate to the real thing I’ve also seen pilots shoot worse your accuracy is pretty good imo

4m burst radius on the 30mm. Individual infantry can and do survive those bursts - it’s all luck of the draw. It’s an area suppression weapon system.

I am pretty sure the Ka-52 holds claim of the most enemy AFV kills in the world now.
It's amazing something the size of the Apache is able to carry 1200 rounds of 30mm ammo.
And carry enough ballistic protection to comfortably shrug off most small arms fire and light glances from AA cannons.
