    Awesome video, should be pretty easy for me to tie the double hooks because that’s my egg loop knot for bar fishing the Fraser river.

      @FHSTackle  5 років тому

      Yes....I learned that knot years ago and it's the only snell knot I use....I've seen deckhands and avid anglers tie one that is way quicker, but I don't know how to do it....If it ain't broke don't fix it...LOL

    What sizes and colors to start with do you suggest. And where to order them from. What hooks to use

    • @guyh.4553
      @guyh.4553 6 років тому +1

      Thomas Bridges, I'll start with the style of hooks 1st. You want to use a straight shank style or "Tru-Turn" hooks. For trout, you can use treble hooks. The straight shank style is to snell hooks. You can use treble hooks as the trailer hook on the snell as well; it's personal preference. For trout, you'll generally want to use sizes from 8 - 4, maybe a 2 at most. That is unless you're going after Gerrad/Kamloop trout, steelhead, or Lakers in which you'll use sizes 2 - 1/0. You'll use the general sizes for Kokanee as well. For salmon, you'll use sizes 2 up to 2/0.
      That's how I use them. Just experiment and see what works for you. Good luck!

    50 - 60# test for trout??? How big of trout are you targeting?

      Guy H. The reason for heavy line from the dodger or flasher to lure is to get more action out of the lure not for breaking off

      rproloff, good idea! I was hoping to make a little joke out of it. BUT... I've also learned something. Thanks!

      He used heavy line for the purpose of showing how to tie the knot
