- Here's our London, England travel vlog! We did SO much in our 5 days there. We discovered the best restaurants, saw Christmas lights, drank at pubs, saw the ABBA Voyage show, and saw many parts of the city!
#London #travelvlog
This is country #3 on our trip around the world! Come follow along!
Hello to anyone discovering our channel! We hope you enjoy it and have a nice day 😊
have had plenty of fab memories at the Churchill arms,. its always lit and decorated during the seasonal occasions. Glad you guys visited!
I have to comment a second time. I get a kick out of Americans going to London for the first time and how they do it without any research and end up having a really ridiculous trip seeing absolutely nothing that's worthwhile. You guys, on the other hand, did a really good job. I'm very impressed with your short trip to London. Next time, be sure to actually go in the Tower of London. You'll love London in the summer. And I'm blown away that you went to Gymkhana. I thought you were supposed to be on a budget.😅😅 and to The Churchill Pub and seeing Abba and going to so many other places that most Americans don't even think of going by. Very well done.😊
Thank you for all the kind words! Our friend Yasi handled most of the planning, so we owe her for the neat itinerary. We're looking forward to going back, maybe even taking a job there one day. And Gymkhana... when I (Dave) heard we were going to a Michelin Star, it really made me nervous. But 60 pounds per person isn't too bad, all things considered. We can always make more money later 🫣
I just visited. Tried a lot of the tourist things. The best things I did was to just take a bus to anywhere and walk around in the beautiful neighborhoods.
@a.humphries8678 how nice is that? Just walking around and breathing in the soul of the city. Feeling the vibe of the people and where they live. Well done.
@scottbarry62 it was amazing!!! It's so beautiful. The green areas and parks and markets and people... ❤️
I know. That's why I'm going to get a place over there and start spending half my time in London. Also, I will use it as a jumping off location to visit the rest of Europe.
A- ba (Abba) A as in Cap (no r as in car) . Great video
Everyone goes for a Full Brekkie there! He’s amazing. I must go x
Really enjoyed your vlog and had to become a subscriber! You really went to a few unique places that most vloggers haven't covered, so I added a few spots to my map! Thanks so much for sharing your travels.
Watched quite a few of these 'Americans in London/UK' vlogs and this one is AWESOME...deffo one of the BEST (and tbf, there have been some really cool ones too)! BTW, on your next visit, don't forget (as well as Scotland & Ireland) - there's also, 'Gods Country'........Wales' - "We'll keep a welcome in the hillsides", as they say.... See Ryan Reynolds' Welcome To Wrexham' 😉
Thank you for the kind words!!! Yes we can't forget Wales. We are currently planning out the June trip. 10 days in UK to visit the sites of Kelsey's Scottish ancestors
Tip for next time. If you're trying to watch your budget then the Heathrow Express is an expensive way to get to Central London. The Elizabeth line or Piccadilly line are much cheaper.
That's good to know! We moved around a lot, but we were surprised by how much we spent on the London metro 🤷♂️. In the next cities on our trip (Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Athens) we got smarter and spent much less
@@pillarsandfillers An Oyster card or Contactless Credit Card gives you the lowest available fares and a daily price cap on London's public transport system. It's not clear if you used either of these but If you didn't you will have paid a lot more than you needed to.
Yes, for your limited budget, I was really surprised to see you took the Heathrow Express.
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!!!
By the way, the Heathrow Express is, mile for mile, the most expensive railway service in the UK. Our wonderful new Elizabeth Line follows the same route, stops a few times on the way to Paddington and is waaaay cheaper.
Thank you! I won't make that mistake twice 😁
I just did the Elizabeth express into London, and Picadilly when leaving. Love the public transit!
Love the owner of E Pellici, always so much energy when he pops up in videos on UA-cam.
The best!
I watch LOTS of travel vlogs and yours was AMAZING. I really enjoyed it! Thank you very much. Love from Ushuaia, Argentina!!
Thank you, Lucia! We watch tons as well, and have seen several people visit Ushuaia!
@@pillarsandfillers You have? Many people stop by on their way to Antarctica maybe one day you'll be vlogging from here! 🤗
ABBA is in fact a Swedish group. Love your vlog!
Thank you Howard!
Big Ben is the bell - you saw The Elizabeth tower that houses Big Ben. Come back please😅😅😅😅
In June!
A nice fresh vlog hello and happy travels
Thank you Mr James!
Shame they were staying in what is the "grottiest" part of London, the east end!
Not a good first impression of the UK sadly.
❤❤❤❤❤
Those very interesting structures next to MI6 that you thought where apartments are in fact all apartments. For the spectacular views and what you get inside, the rates are very reasonable. For London.
I've been inside one of those apartments and in one of the apartments in the round St George's Wharf Tower. They're very nice but fitting in regular shaped furniture must be a pain.
I enjoyed you visiting the fantastically stimulating place that I have called home for 68 years. I was born on The South East side just 2 or 3 miles from many of those Central London sights. It is impossible to see all of London and its 32 Botoughs in one lifetime( and I have tried and failed miserably) lol
The amazing thing about London is that 100 Tourist Vlogs will give you 100 completely different lists of attractions visited:)
Good Luck and see you all again..
That is a great way to put it! Cheers!
I'm going to be in London this summer and staying in Kensington. I plan on eating at Churchill Arms one evening.
Did you catch any of the Museums.? I'm surprised if didn't because yes they are Free The British museum it self is Beautiful. And what it contains is Breathtaking.
It's the best collection in the world! We'd both been there on previous trips to London so we didn't go this time
The sculpture at 11:03 is also a fountain and has a lot of moving parts, but it looks like it was stopped and drained for maintenance when you were there.
That's amazing! Thanks for telling us!
Took me a while to work out who or what Ahba might be until you mentioned going to ABBA Voyage. Then I remembered the peculiar way that Americans pronounce ABBA! 😂
Snow on the ground? Wow that’s rare in London! When was this?
It was the Queen Elizabeth Tower you passed on your Uber boat. Big Ben is actually a bell within the tower.
Thank you! I'm glad to know that now
New sub here, great video, great edit
Thank you! We are getting better 😉
The steampunk ship actually moved in the past, with steam and the oars rowing
That's amazing! Next time in London I'll revisit it to see if it's operational
St George Wharf is high end apartments - sadly a helicopter flew into it a few years ago one foggy morning…
Well it's only cold if you choose to come near winter, just like
in your country.
And a different matter - maybe unlike in your country, in Europe we have six hours per day more light in the evening in summer.!!!
And in scotland and northern Europe, it's even more than that.!!!!!
That's a good point! Right now I'm looking at things to do in and around Edinburgh for June. Every day we'll probably run out of energy before we run out of daylight!
No, dont go back to Gymkhana - Its not even in the Top 50 the best Indian restaurants in London! E.Pelici is fun but try some other food places - the food scene is amazing in London!
Cant wait to see you back in London for the Summer - My favourite city in the world along with Lisbon, Prague and Buenos Aires
Let us know your favorites! Those were the two best we went to in our few days there. We talked about how it would be fun to get jobs in London for a year or so and really learn the place
@@pillarsandfillers Next time you're in London do not miss a trip to Borough Market (just by London Bridge and Southwark Cathedral). Yes, I know
that it is a major tourist attraction but it's still got the best range of the most amazing foods and produce.
For sure! Thank you
Dishoom would have been so much cheaper than Gymkhana. We do have the best Indian food outside of India but smaller local places are way more authentic.
Thanks for the food rec! 😊
If I had £1 for every London travel vlog I've watched where the vlogger goes to Dishoom, I'd have enough money for a nice meal at Gymkhana! Indian restaurants are literally everywhere in the UK, often even in the smallest of villages. Dishoom seems to be "trendy" at the moment, but it's by no means the only place to go for good Indian food...far from it, in fact!
So many other good Indian restaurants in London as well as across the UK. You might like to try Brick Lane in Whitechapel, a go-to destination for 'Indian' food. Lots of other good places where you don't need to spend as much and have the real 'British Indian' food that we all love.
Saved it in Google maps! Thank you Mark
@@pillarsandfillers Enjoy! 👍
I kept Thinking what's obba .Accents. obviously I didn't there get it
THAMES = TEMZ not TAMES.
Big Ben is the BELL inside the tower.
☺️ thank you ☺️
Thank you. I was going to post that. I cringed when I heard him say that. For God's sake, where have you been your entire life?
@@scottbarry62 Lighten up. You think people from other countries know how to pronounce the words of rivers they aren't familiar with? Oh wait, because it's special Little Britain you deserve to be self-important and annoyed about it?
@@paradisekohchangstyle2150 I expect that before somebody makes a vlog about something that they know what they're talking about. Otherwise keep your stupid ideas and your pathetic advice to yourself. By the way, that Little Britain created the greatest Empire the world has ever seen. Not to mention the Parliament that has been copied all over the world. And then of course there are all the inventions that came out of this little country that start the Industrial Revolution. And I'm an American. You can't get anything right.
Have you visited the Cotswolds
A few years ago I drove through on a tour bus. We have plans in the summer to visit UK so we will go then!
Thames is pronounced Tems.
Yeah I said it wrong! 😲 but it was fun to read about the different explanations of its origin and why it's pronounced that way
@@pillarsandfillers cool.
London is so expensive compared to the North....Well anywhere outside London. The best of Britain are our countryside. 10% of our total land are beautiful National Parks.
I totally agree! It's all about balance and everyone has their preferences. In the USA I think the best part is Utah and Arizona (the desert) but many would prefer the cities. In a few months we'll visit the Scottish highlands and I can't wait to see it and make that video! Thank you for watching, Anita!
@@pillarsandfillers Cornwall is spectacular, The lakes, The Yorkshire Dale's, Scotland is best from the end of July to October as that's when the Heather is in Bloom. To be honest when we get visitors from abroad we recommend they buy a National Trust membership and base their holiday around the book. It has hundreds properties such as of castles, lighthouses, historic homes gardens and parkland, woods, heritage coastline etc you can access for free. Plus its free parking you normally pay for. Facilities such as loos tearooms etc. Plus graded walks and managed signposted paths. It's about the cheapest way to see the best sights in England. Scottish Heritage is another organisation but it is nowhere near as comprehensive as the National Trust. 10% of out total land area is National Parks. Most visitors do not understand the glory of Britain is our countryside and trains and motorways do not show the best of it.
Christmas in Germany is the best, and this comes from a Brit.
why do you think no prime minister goes to the tower of London
Done the DFW to LHR flight dozens of times. Not a bad flight. British Airways is a lot worse than American
Arbba??
Seems like people pronounce it differently in different parts of the world. ua-cam.com/video/w4cRF_Vpg8I/v-deo.html
@@pillarsandfillersThere’s only one pronunciation as they’re a music group and that’s their name.
$1000 a week!? :O
It's pretty tight, but we have saved up a ton of credit card points and airline miles, so flying is usually free!
itsA for apple not ar abba

OMG, that pie was way overdone. I'd have sent that back.
Great video of my home city. That strange looking building you passed via Uber next to the MI6 is the St George’s Wharf building. Majority of the building is residential with leisure facilities, shops and restaurants. I live very close to it and it’s in the area called Vauxhall. It’s also locally known as the Fairy Towers as it’s full of gays/ lesbians due to the fact that Vauxhall is the centre of London’s gay clubland. It’s good to see people visit London who don’t just do the typical tourist things. Next visit please find a floating bar there are many along the river Thames many are independent bars and some have clubs on them. By the way the river Thames is pronounced ‘THEMS’ . Good luck on your venture.
We didn't know if it was supposed to be like that or not, but the top was like a turtle shell :)
That is interesting!!! Thank you for all the information. Cheers Nigel!
ABBA
A as in Apple, not pronounced harbour

Maybe try a little research about a) what you’re seeing and b) how to pronounce it. Oh and btw, couldn’t care less about your friends who are apparently almost as ignorant about London as you are.
Why are nealy all You Tube hosts so garrulous? I want to see what they see, not hear about their relations and friends. I have relations and friends of my own, thank you.
This is leeching IQ points…..
