The electronic parking brake will release by itself when you start driving. You don't need to release by hand.

Thanks so much for explaining the different features. I'm not pleased with that Paddle switch behind the steering. It's just in the way. I just got the 2018 and I haven't read the manual yet, so I'm happy I bumped into your FYI. Thanks again!!!
