- Demonstrating how to put a Mercedes-Benz GLE in to gear. Some of the gears that I'm showing on how to put the Mercedes-Benz GLE into is drive, reverse and neutral as well as Park.

Even though it wasn’t explained, this helped me figure out how to get the car into neutral from drive, so you can enter car washes. From Drive, you LIGHTLY push up on the lever, not with full force, as it will send it into Reverse. From Reverse, you can also press lightly down on the lever, but not with full force as it’ll put it in Drive. This is the problem I had. Hopes this helps anyone else who is struggling with putting the Mercedes in Neutral.

What happen if you accidently changing to r while driving in the rain. Assuming you mistakenly pull the gear instead of the wiper...
U cant go t r as u need to hold ur brake for that. U Can go to neutral

Isn't that where the windshield wiper controls are normally supposed to be? Where are they if you have this gear system?
Wiper controls are on the indicator lever

If you mistake the gear lever as turn signal while driving on a highway, will it shift to Neutral?
no because your foot must be on the brake to change gears

Seems specialized for a chauffeur, and not a daily driver. Decades of driving would have me flip on my wipers to see myself go from 5th gear into reverse.

Insane. No idea why they’ve gone backwards with their design in such a high tech era, with so much technology in their cars now, but revert back to a gear system like in 60s American cars ? Lol
Makes no sense. Most of us are used to a gear stick or auto stick next to our leg. I don’t understand why change that? It’s stupid. Definitely put me off Mercedes now.
