The Minneapolis Miracle deserves a deep rewind | Vikings-Saints 2017 Playoffs

- You may remember exactly where you were when this moment happened, but do you remember everything that made it truly matter?
For many of us, the Minneapolis Miracle overshadowed so much from that 2017 season. The Vikings had been a bit of a confusing team, in part thanks to their own bad luck. They had been forced to cycle through quarterbacks in a way that made their season that year one of the biggest shocks in the league. To counter their surprising offense, New Orleans offered a possibly even more unexpected strong defense, made up by some young players we might before for the wrong reasons.
But, that's football for you. Big plays will dominate our opinions, our memories betray us, and rarely do we get to have the chance to watch something fresh for a second time. Welp, that's why we make Rewinder.

@@stratdaddy Google Taylor Heinicke leg injury
@@stratdaddy Back in 2016, Vikings QB Taylor Heinicke (the same one who nearly beat the Bucs in the WC), was slated to be the 3rd QB.
However, this all changed one night when he was coming home from an evening with friends during training camp. Keep in mind that he was kind of drunk.
It was dark outside, and Taylor couldn't find his key. Therefore, he was locked out of his house.
In Taylor's mind, the most logical solution was to... try and break into his own house by literally kicking his front door down.
It backfired tremendously, and Heinicke suffered a major gash on his foot. The Vikings put him on IR shortly after.

Welcome to a moment in history.
As a Minnesota fan, I still get goosebumps every time I watch this play, especially with Paul Allen calling it. This is one of those moments where you remember exactly where you were and who you were with when it happened. I was in total shock and awe that we managed to come back and win it after seeing our lead slip away so quickly. Shame about what happened in the game afterwards, but the whole season was worth it for this moment. Someday we'll get our Super Bowl!
I get goosebumps every time I see it and I’m a patriots fan lol
My mom couldn't watch and we turned off the tv. I looked on my phone and I saw the game change... immediately I rampantly tried to turn on the tv to see... the most exciting thing I have ever seen the vikings pull off. God I wish I was more appreciative of football at the time because this was just an insane play.
I'm a UH alumni and had followed Case as he jumped around the league. What a season the Vikes had. And I definitely remember where I was when I saw this play live. Having no real NFL allegiance myself, following the Vikings that year was the most fun I've had following an NFL team in a long time.
Y'all look good this year
I was watching it with my dad and we were having trouble with our Wi-Fi, and we got the game back for the play before this one. I thought there was no hope, but now the Joe Buck call is in my brain forever.
As a Vikings fan I went through every emotion from screaming at the tv, to straight pain, to crying on the floor when diggs ran it in.
Watching Diggs running with the ball held out in front of him made the last few seconds seem like an eternity. As a die hard Vikings fan used to watching them lose in every conceivable manner, I fully expected him to drop the ball short of the goal line, trip over his own feet, or do something else that would cause the Vikings to lose.

"Next Wednesday's Sixers-Lakers game deserves a deep rewind."
I remember watching this game and I am very happy for the viking fans because they deserve a moment like this... People say it was an amazing catch and run but in my opinion it wasn't really a miracle... It was the saints particularly Marcus William made a horrible mistake because all he needed to do is let him catch it and you can tackle him before he gets out of bounds and the game would have been over.. he's completely missed the tackle which let the Viking win this game but I don't want to take any credit from the Vikings this was a really good game... My 49ers we had our share with incredible good games with the New Orleans saints particularly the 2011 divisional playoff game so in the way I know how they feel
The thing that really caught me off guard when I was watching the play was Joe buck. But, I still wish the Vikings didn’t get blown out the following week.

As a Vikings fan, this is the worst moment in recent history. This one singular meaningless win has kept the franchise in mediocrity ever since, as it gave upper management confidence in keeping the worst HC in the NFL in Zimmer.
@iiivmmi Don’t forget then signed Kirk Cousins to where it’s just been downhill ever since missing the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years...🤦🏼♂️
@@justingregor6329 Man I agree Zimmer should be fired after how the team looked this year
But he ain't no Zac Taylor to be considered the worst?
@@JWex-jy7sk my ranking of Zimmer as the worst coach in the league is based upon the fact that he produces mediocre results with elite talent. I have Nagy as the second worst HC in the league due to the same rationale. I just have a hard time putting Taylor in my bottom 5 coach tier because he’s only been there for 2 years and the cupboard is pretty bare or young in terms of talent. One of the things that really added to the pain of this play, was just how poorly the Vikings ended up playing against the Eagles in the following week. They Basically showed up, confidently drove the ball down the field to score on their first possession, and then decided that was going to be it and called it a day.
Love these rewinds. The build up and history to that one moment, makes you appreciate it so much more. Brilliant
Saints fans are already having a bad week just for secret base to drop this on them
As a Falcons fan, this was one of the greatest days of my life.
It's funny. You make a point of the defense waiting on a consistent offense. Now, it's the opposite.
I would say this is the first season under Zimmer our offense was better than our defense. Danielle Hunter, Michael Pierce and Mike Hughes (who would’ve guessed Mike would get hurt lmao) all missed the season. We lost Griffey, Alexander, Wayne’s, and Rhodes, and several key back ups like Sendajo and Kearse. Wouldn’t be surprised if we signed a guard and had a really defensive draft. Getting another edge, safety, 3 tech, and some line backers
