    Why didn't you use a wrench to loosen the ignition ground?

    Home Depot has the 10mm 3/8 socket needed for the long ground bolts . They sell for $3.

  • @Bigfwop
    @Bigfwop 6 років тому +1

    That but also the subframe clearance from under the powersteering pully. I found mine was broken in multiple ares. That tension will also shredd the belt since its under load. Unless the pully hits the frame again and destroys it on impact. The ONLY fix is stiffer Engine mounts or to notch the subframe. This happened to me after replacing VCG Oil cooler line gasket and filter housing gasket. CHECK YOUR PULLEY!!!

    Hey bro. Just had the same problem and they replaced my belt and all my pulley and front main seal. They never cleaned the inside. Taking off my valve cover right now. Figured to clean oil pan when i install my ps2 turbo (already bought it) since the subframe will be off (xdrive lol). Thanks for the vid

    Nice video. You could have just drilled a whole through the long socket for the ground stud bolts. It works.

    My timing chain guide broke and this gave me good memories fixing it, but my air intake snorkel came off and got chewed up inside the serpentine belt, I might change it and not take the chance as the damage could be far worst

    • @hostilityy
      @hostilityy 5 років тому

      you google it. serpentine belts should be replaced around every 70K miles max even if they look ok. I actually just did this for a friend today. it's a 30 min job on an automatic transmission. less on a manual.

  • @heatchamps2011

    • @AutoAddiction
      @AutoAddiction  6 років тому

      If that belt snaps you'll need to open the valve cover and drop the oil pan. You might get lucky if you stop right away and get towed. But why risk it? Just change the belt and check for oil leaks before it happens.

    • @heatchamps2011
      @heatchamps2011 6 років тому

      Auto Addiction Tv yea I know I just been holding back because I need to hangs my oil pan . So I wanna do both at the same time . I have no leaks except the oil pan. It started squeaking because my oil filter gasket and valve cover . I changed both already . I will do it tho.

    That's the way to run a BMW. Replace all the gaskets and seals when you get the car.
    Then charge the oil twice as often than BMW recommends. The old oil oxidizes the seals with the heat.

    It’s not clear to me how a serpentine belt makes it’s way inside the engine.

    • @RayRx84
      @RayRx84 6 років тому

      It gets sucked in through the crankshaft seal as the belt breaks and the crankshaft harmonic balancer keeps spinning as your engine is on. That's why you have to change/replace the crankshaft seal when this happens. I have to fix this on a 2008 535i and do a preventative maintenance on 2009 135i after that...

    • @CarlosMartinez-kn9oj

      You right ,not a way to go inside 😐

    • @aaronsanchezz
      @aaronsanchezz 5 років тому +2

      Carlos Martinez ya these can actually get inside if it goes behind the crank pulley. Mine has snapped twice, once from being old and oil leak, once from inproper install plus oil leak lol but nothing got inside luckily i stopped the car immediately first time got a tow, 2nd time just took out all the belt pieces and drove it home in limp mode since i was close to my house lol.

    2k?! You just got hustled

    • @AutoAddiction
      @AutoAddiction  6 років тому +4

      7:30 is where I break down everything that was done. That's in CAD not USD. I literally did every oil gasket, all new filters and plugs, VRSF charge pipe and Forge BOVs myself in the garage. The only thing I got done by someone else was the oil pan and front crank seal so how did I get hustled lol. They charged me the same rate as any other shop and they specialize in N54s. I did over 12 services to the car which included things that weren't even broken plus some upgrades. For 2k its actually a deal! It would be more like 4 grand if I had got it all done at a shop. The belt and tensioner itself we're only a couple hundred bucks. This video is more about the pieces of belt that go inside the engine and how to fix it properly.

    Why are you playing rap to begin your vid??? It pretty much kills my confidence in your abilities when you intro with less than intelligent material. Sorry, but I'm confounded at how everyone seems to flock to the stupid in this country all of the sudden. I'm anti-thug, and that is what rap promotes. So you are against ghetto fixes, but promote ghetto music????? Lol. Really? And after doing all that work on the top of the engine, why not just jack it up and do the oil pan work yourself, instead of sending it to a shop???? Nothing in this vid makes much sense, except the message to keep your maintenance up always. Cheers!
