We live in confusing times - times that we struggle to understand and that often don’t understand us. How, then, should we as believers respond to its challenges? What are the precedents set by the luminaries of the past? And how can a longer term understanding of the history and evolution of Bani Adam help us?
In a talk given in 2019, Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad reflects on a strategy for the correct response of the believers.

MaShaAllah, Allah (s.w.t) is indeed Kareeb. JazaakAllaah for a beautiful eye opening sermon.
What i picked up
*. Compassion and Human solidarity rather than to be carried by our ego (selfishness) (whether those who give rigid fatwa in the muslim ummah / the (western thinking of) i want to be me culture (searching for the self)).
*. When believers are weak, make it easy for them. Dont go for a narrower ruling.
*. Rasoolullaah made things easier for people.
*. Modern idea of the self taking us to self-realization and therefore happiness; is not working. Greed is driving the show.
*. In the muslim ummah we have those who are going for narrower and rigid interpretations and more interested in Ikhthelaaf.
*. Ikhthelaaf: wanting every body should agree with me/us. (due to emotionality, anxiety/panic attack).
*. Still regard of the things, being in the moment, Being Haadir. If you are Haadir, Allah is Kareeb. Enter the natural world, the world of cyclical time not of (mechanical) linear ticking time.
*. Always remember people are intrinsically valuable (Karramnaa bani Aadam)
*. Remember God is always there. He wishes to be found, he longs to be known, he is Kareeb, he is with you .. where ever you may be.
*. He will open the door of his mercy and his acceptand and unveiling, to those who sincerely and broken heartedly and humbly approach him.
thanks, I liked when the sheikh said how Allah swt never called himself Baeed but only Qareeb, that in and of itself is something to marvel at (especially considering many of the 99 names have opposites)

The Family of Imran ( Joachim ) , Chapter 3 , Revealed at Al-Madinah by the Holy Spirit ( the Angel Gabriel) to the Prophet Muhammed in the early 7th century ;
26. Say : O Allah ! Owner of Sovereignty ! Thou givest sovereignty unto whom Thou wilt, and Thou withdrawest sovereignty from whom Thou wilt. Thou exaltest whom Thou wilt and Thou abasest whom Thou wilt . In Thy hand is the good . Lo ! Thou art able to do all things .
27. Thou causest the night to pass into the day , and Thou causest the day to pass into the night . And Thou bringest forth the living from the dead , and Thou bringest forth the dead from the living . And Thou givest sustenance to whom Thou choosest , without stint .

5. The likeness of those who are entrusted with the law if Moses , yet apply it not , is as the likeness of the ass carrying books .Wretched is the likeness of folk who deny the Revelations of Allah . And Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk .
6. Say ( O Muhammed ) : O ye who are Jews ! If ye claim that ye are favoured of Allah apart from ( all ) mankind , then long for death if ye are truthful .
7. But they will never long for it because of all that their own hands have sent before , and Allah is Aware of evil- doers .
8. Say ( unto them O Muhamned ) : Lo ! The death from which you shrink will surely meet you , and afterward ye will be returned unto the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible , and He will tell you what ye used to do .

I find it almost miraculous that a Cambridge educated middle-class Englishman is guided by Allah and speaks in the most eloquent voice about our Deen. Alhamdulillah.

Whenever I listen to Abdal Hakim Murad's speech, its like a flowing stream of water - gentle and calming but it also flows towards an ocean that is deep with spiritual knowledge. Mashallah

Yeah I it's because of some intense speakers give you out of this world pressure. They are like 5 daily prayers? Nah, also 11 rakat at night! or you are not a REAL Muslim. Reality is, we must believe and do what is required, everything else is extra.
I feel the problem isn't adopting stern practices, but being aware when you are. Once you forego Sunnah or Nafl practices (without a valid excuse), you begin to fill your time with pointless exercises, and it's a slippery slope. Allahu Alam.
I found myself constantly pausing and rewinding to catch any phrases I missed; the wisdom in the words of the shaykh is amazing masha Allah, may Allah unite the ummah and bless you all.
Seeing the universe as a “garden” not as a “minefield.” A beautiful way of looking at things that needs not to be forgotten.
Seeing the universe as paradise, jannah (garden), ignores the mindfield just ask the late princess Diana.

This shaykh's name is perfect. He is the slave of the 'al-Hakim' - the All Wise; and his second name is 'Murad' - the one sought by Allah. His wisdom in his lectures are self-evident. May we continue to benefit from him. May Allah preserve him, create many other scholars like him and increase us all in wisdom, mercy, knowledge and closeness to Him.
Wunderbar the shaikh is on a diierent paradigm and on a different level of islamic knowledge and thought

I’ve been listening to this lecture for the past three years .. and every time I hear I get a learn a new insight
I love Sheikh Abdal Hakim. I have recommended listening sheikh to many people in my neighbor hood. We all love him so much. Please post videos of sheikh more often and tell him to take care of his health. May Allah protect him and give him a long life. May Allah guide us on his straight path.

The Liberals, Conservatives, Ex Muslims, Christian Missionaries and everyone else is scared of how much Abdal Hakim Murad destroys them with such ease.
I LOVE THIS GUY
It goes beyond race traditional Catholics don't have an issue with someone like Cardinal Sarah for instance (more so than many of the Vatican II popes).
But notice how those who see beyond race are usually religious.
And by seeing beyond race i mean in a real sense, not like those left wingers who in their zeal not to be racist to outsiders turned their prejudice on their own race. Those people would propably see someone like the Sheikh here as a cultural appropriator or something absurd like that.
But more to the point, one has to keep in mind many of the nationalists are not really responding to the Muslims but to the aformentioned lefists. That is something to keep in mind as well.
He doesn't destroy anyone. His message is that we should not be at each others' throats over our differences. His message is that compassion and patience work better than anger and self-righteousness.
it's very telling that what they take from his words is "destroy"

This is an excellent lecture and best lecture I ever heard. This lecture has completely changed my outlook of Islam and its teaching. He puts Islam in a different perspective: peaceful and divineful.
Allah is to be loved and not to be feared or scared of as current molvees are doing. Allah is most merciful. I agree you will get lot out of humans if you approach them with a peaceful message rather than giving them harsh kutbahs.
