“There’s something about modernity that wishes to make money out of us by keeping us in that childlike state (distracted)” this reminded me of the documentary, The Social Dilemma (2020)
This is so pertinent to me. I find myself numbing through distractions frequently, because I’m already very dissociated due to complex trauma, so it does take much more energy for me to accomplish things. I get tired, and I resign myself to zoning out. May Allah guide me and help me work on that within myself 🤲🏼 some relief as well.
''When we take a wrong moral decision, its because the believing mind is not fully in place, if you're deciding good from evil, you need to be in full position of all your faculties. Usually when we take a bad decision, it because we've shut out some part of our conscious in order to allow lower self to grab something''
I loved the manner of the host. Just speaking enough, not little not much, no overriding. Enjoyed the talk. Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad is a treasure house of knowledge and insight. Beautiful and enlightening!❤
This episode is exceptionally insightful and enlightening, I learned so much! Plus the sounds of the kids playing in the background gives is a very wholesome touch. I find these discussions to be really significant for us living in the modern world and will definitely be tuning in for more. Thankful this randomly popped up on my feed!
Excellent session. Other hosts can learn from this interviewer. He was engaged, did not interrupt, was structured, and kept the flow at an even pace. Lot of duas for both.
Alhamdullia and thankyou for this video. I only reverted 1st January this year so my first Ramadan. I regularly get distracted during prayer. Insha'Allah this video will help keep my mind on the prayer and fasting. May Allah guide us all during this difficult month.
may allah forgive me. i haven't been able to fast, health reasons, but i intend to make up for this loss, give my charity to my local masjid, and catch up on my salah, and fasts, insha'Allah it have to achieve this, .for the sake of Allah SWT
I thank Allah SWT for allowing people like you to walk this earth in our times, Sheikh. With such poise and directness in speech , you resemble a particular Imam of 10th century :) Alhamdulillah.
Hearing him speak about what we can do without distractions is a little nostalgic as it reminds me of school years where I could write flawless logical essays as well as compositions. Most of that is lost today, I struggle with paying attention and at the same time we are flooded with all kinds of noises, it takes effort to clear it.
Great Interview :) i try to reflect on this topic in this ramadan as i watched myself not being distracted by entertainment but rather by my tendency to get passive in doing my daily activities. I feel tired and attach this to fasting. I really have to see my fast as a way to be naturally active :)
جزاكم الله خيرا Very poignant points about education and technology. Makes me think of the much needed conversation on how we should intentionally design schooling for critical consciousness. Curious if there are conversations and scholarship taking place at CMC on school and curriculum design?
I have fasted but I have lacked and been deficient in prayers and reciting the Holy Qur’an. In previous years I haven’t worked so been more active. This year I have worked from home and even taken days off but still been far more lazy. The food I’m eating is not healthy. My sleeping is all over the place. I also used to be careful with avoiding sins but this year I’ve been reading news where there may be some vulgarity or I’ve been on social media and there’s been vulgarity or music popping up.
9:57 New Zealand Enlightening for all ages specially for young families. Jazakallahu khaeran for this motivational message. May we practice and transform this information to Amal which is actual ilm according to Islam.
One of the protections against trials in the grave is any beneficial knowledge about Islam and Allah that you shared with others in this world. This Ramadan, share your favorite hadith, or teach someone your favorite surah or post a spiritual reminder for others! And get Allah's blessings and protection in the hereafter! May Allah give you multiple folds of good deeds this month
Alhamdulillah i grew up playing and enjoying but for the first time after lockdown i got too attached to UA-cam and have noticed a huge decline in my concentration. My self-discipline has also decreased. Inshallah hope this Ramadan to try to turn back to my old self. This interview Inshallah will help. Jazakallah.
I can’t decipher the name of the first author mentioned after Ghazzali. The second, however, was The Millennium Discourses by Etsko Schuitema. Available on Amazon. We request the CMC Team to provide these names preferably as bubbles on the screen during the video.
Alhamdulillah, a great question to ponder today ... Is dunya a distraction for us? - great choice in the modern world: have a cappuccino or fast for a day (or a month) ?? :)

Tried fasting Ramadan before converting and it was that experience that really opened my heart to Islam. Even as a non-Muslim, I felt the difference.
Masha allah ❤
Include me in your dua,I can't walk due to spinal cord infection since 2018

Loved the message that Islam is not a religion which asks of us to make our way around the duniya, but instead through the duniya! ❤️

Excellent discourse.
Might I say that there are many things in the world that are not very amazing. Hence the attraction to distractions .

What’s the book mentioned at 30:00, does anyone have the full title and author? Jzk and Ramadan Kareem.
Can someone share the names of the books he mentioned?
I can’t decipher the name of the first author mentioned after Ghazzali. The second, however, was The Millennium Discourses by Etsko Schuitema. Available on Amazon.
We request the CMC Team to provide these names preferably as bubbles on the screen during the video.
