The 291 is one of the best kept secrets of Hemi lore. I stuffed one of these in a factory five hotrod. Roller cam with a wide LSA and it pulls hard on an autocross course. 11:1 compression, Aluminum flywheel, and a TKO600 5 speed. Eldebrock AVS2 on the factory manifold too!
My dad sold this exact motor about 5 years ago. I would swear this had to be it! It is not, but at least I know of 2 55 fireflies 291’s going into 30’s hot rods. Awesome find
Can you guys help me on my 291. Want to fire it up on pallet. Still has the 6 volt coil points condenser. I am using 12 volt batt to turn it over. Can i just hook up a 12 volt coil to the original points and condenser? john in mt

That thing is smooth as butter. No fuss no muss start up. Can't believe the oil pressure! Good job finding and repurposing it.

This is before engines needed a wussy radiator.
This needed a wussy radiator, these guys just didn’t hook it up before running it unfortunately.
42 seconds wouldn't hurt that unit.
