    Nice Mitch. Finally watched the rest of this. Great insight into how a wing should be analyzed. We've come a long ways from where we were just 4 or 5 years ago, where people were reviewing wings with "whoa dude" and "Fricking Awesome". Or simply saying, "this wing is just better" Your delving into intended flying mission here, gives potential buyers the vocabulary they need to help them explain what type of flying they like the best. Doing so will help them match their wing purchase accordingly.

      Thank you. I try my best. If anything, I can provide a data point like at this wing loading and altitude, you can expect these speeds and handling.

    Great review bud! Personally I’m telling clients this is a better option to consider then the Nucleon XX. Keep in mind that Apco is touting the F1 to be the competitor to Warp for XC, now because its not as fast its moving to compete with the H3. I think guys passing intermediate level and looking to upgrade after 150 hrs should skip the Nuc and go H3. At 300 hrs they should consider Warp which remains the undisputed King....

    My daily driver (MacPara Colorado) has developed a flutter that transfers through to my brake hand when I'm holding minimal brake pressure. I didn't really notice it until I was watching video of flying it and saw my hand fluttering. I cleaned about a half bushel basket of trash out of the trailing edge, but it still does it. Going to take it in for an inspection after Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, I'll be considering a demo Samurai as a potential addition to the fleet. The Samurai uses a traditional PK system. The manual claims the PK is most effective in a much narrower range between neutral and full trims out, but either something is lost in translation or the description is intentionally vague.

    • @MitchG

    can the Dudek Hadron 4 do sats and barrel rolls? could the manufacturers easily put a power attack on the Hadron 3. and the speed bar. wasn't set up properly.so how can you test a wing with a speed bar not set correct. live and learn. the driftair I bought. i didn't like the height loss.and it does oscillate. i fly a viper 4. and I've had other wings. expert wings. reflex more of a arc.

    I am 125kg all up. I was debating between the 20 and the 22m but now I think I want the 22. I know you are at high altitude vs me at 900asl but it preformed really well at that loading with you on it.

      @@MitchG Is it okay to fly a smaller size on this wing, perhaps to improve speed & reduce vulnerability to turbulence? Or will that negate the other useful benefits of this wing?

    I think I’ll have to get a Dudek for my next wing. I’m probably 60/40 freestyle/cruising. Tough decision. Probably going to go with the DriftAir since it has the PA system. I want to get better at using the bar.

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 роки тому

      yeah if you do more freestyle than xc I vote drift air.

  • @parasportz
    @parasportz 3 роки тому

    I've been waiting for this one 🙂. I realise the wing wasn't your size and I'm curious to know how it cranks and banks doing SATs and wingovers compared to the Driftair. I understand the Driftair is the better wing for that purpose though.
    Similarly, I'm curious how you think the Dtiftair would be on XC compared to H3. I would think H3 would be more stable, slower roll rate maybe but more efficient? How do you think both would handle turbulence? I know you've touched on these questions in the clip but I'd love to hear a bit more, please.
    Thank you so much Mitch for doing these videos. I'm sure many pilots find them as informative as I do.

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 роки тому

      I think either wing can do anything that the other one can do. Both will do all the same acro moves and can both fly xc in the same conditions. The differences will be the hadron will require a little less input for xc and a little more input for acro. While the drift will be the opposite. H3 definitely wins in efficiency, Its only a 3 liner, higher aspect ratio, more plastic rods ect. Drift air wins for slalom with the power attack system. I need more time with the H3 in rough air but the drift is great in rough air.

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 роки тому

      No I havent. Id love to though. Typically A wings when flown in the weight range are just so slow and trimmed so they always reopen after a collapse. However, if you overload them they can handle nice

  • @NelsonsWings
    @NelsonsWings 3 роки тому

    Were you expecting that much pitch back at 3:40 when you cut power?
    Rods the length of the cord are good for performance but a pain for packing.

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 роки тому +2

      The H3 converted the extra speed into more altitude than I expect. My drift air couldnt get that much altitude from that turn. The motor tilt was expected.
      For packing, motor heads dont do that 😉😆

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 роки тому +2

      Never flown one but being that its a copy of an EN rated A wing, its easy to tell it will be slow if flown in the proper weight range but safe for learning. There are way to many better options for a ppg glider for the dominator to even be an option IMO

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah or if the motor is off, and you are gliding in for landing, it's how much energy you have in the brakes to level off and slow down for landing. Letting trims out also gives more flare authority.

    Hey Mitch. Thank you so much for this. So help me out with this. I currently fly and love a 22m Paramania GTR but I’m ready for something a bit more efficient to stay in the air longer. The GTR eats gas and I would love to do more cross countries, while keeping the agility of the GTR. Many have recommended this wing. What do you think? I’m 300lbs all up with full tank. Would love a bit more flare authority too as my knees are getting a bit older. Thanks.

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 роки тому +1

      I've flown a 22m gtx. So similar. A driftair or H3 would be more efficient than your gtr. The H3 has tons of flare and is at the top of its class for an xc wing. I recomend a 22m for all up of 300lbs. You wont be disappointed. The roll rate will be equal or faster than your gtr as well

    Any idea why Dudek wants you to be a 100 hour pilot with something like 80 hours a year to fly the Hadron 3? I really enjoy XC flying and I'm going to upgrade prob next year from Spyder1 but I'm not sure to what yet. I really want fuel efficiency and the ability to be really solid and safe in bad air. I didn't hear you talk about it, but doesn't the Hadron 3 have an anti-torque line? Did you try it yet?

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 роки тому

      It's a very high aspect ratio wing so if you do make a mistake and stall it or spin it, it is not going to be forgiving. Spyder to a hadron is to large of a jump imo. Enjoy the progression of ppg. Dont upgrade until you feel like your current wing is holding you back. You will feel safer and have more fun on an intermediate wing vs being scared of the hadron with that big of a jump.
      The anti torque line isn't needed for modern ppg motors because our motors already have offset to counter torque. If your motor doesnt have offset arms then the torque line is useful.

    • @joshperryppg
      @joshperryppg 3 роки тому

      @@MitchG Thanks Mitch! I'm not upgrading anytime soon, just realize XC is going to be my niche. It's what I enjoy most out of PPG. My Spyder sinks like a rock when you let off the throttle.
