    Thanks for the tip of spitting it out. It increases my blood sugar, so limiting how long it’s in my mouth will curb that reaction. I use Xylimelts with zero side effect.

    Thank you for this information. As a child I had terrible problems with my teeth. I’ve been using gum & mints for convenience, with no side effects, but I like the idea of rinsing while I am at home. After 5 months, my teeth feel amazing. I’m seeing a new dentist soon. I am curious about his assessment of my teeth. Thank you for this video.

      You and me both bud. Without proper guidance, its hard to have good oral hygiene. I would as a child eat a caramel/chocolate/sour candy and not drink or do anything for hours and that's just a single bad habit out of many that I can list off lol. When thinking back, its so obvious why my mouth was filled with cavities...

      @@MasterEverydayLivingThe hygienist was surprised at the lack of tarter and stains on my teeth as well as the health of my gums. I have followed Dr Ellie’s system for about 4 months & in the US it’s pretty inexpensive. I learned everything from her free videos on UA-cam. My teeth feel so clean at all times. Even when I wake up. Didn’t used to be that way. I think you have underestimated her. She makes money on her products, but lets everyone know where we can buy them on our own. Her xylitol products are wonderful and easy to carry for dining out or a between meal snack. I feel very grateful to her. And also to you for telling everyone how to use the crystals. Dr Ellie has an extensive educational background and practiced in 3 countries. I believe that she has only wanted to help. Making money is not her primary goal. But if she makes money on her excellent products, I am happy for her. Thanks!🙏

      Absolutely they love to push fluoride everything all our lives among all the horrible chemicals commercial lathering agents and alcohols in most. If following that advice to a t since you were a child worked as I did no one would have a single issue and ever go to the dentist outside of a cleaning and no money for them but endless people who do all right and meticulously still have issues happen. So glad I got away from those products and use simple natural remedies like xylitol as well. Truly sad how our country cares zero about our health per pushing have the poison nd toxic shit they do in our products and food to keep then lining their pockets with the insurances we have that barely cover anything they cause. It's wild most definitely among anytime i mention to my dentist using coconut oil pulling and all the natural products i use per my good oral health. They act like you mqxe something up and immediately switch topics rather than god forbid acknowledge remedies around for centuries that actually heal people! 😅

    Oh but YES!!! In a reactive way too! Haven’t you noticed how smooooth your teeth started to feel once you started using xylitol?? I noticed the glassy feeling the first day mine arrived. I kept eating it and in 1/2 I’m going Wow…it feels like I just had a teeth cleaning! Dr. Ellie, who’s been on top of this substance for almost 60 years, has demonstrated in her own practice and with hundreds of European and other studies how xylitol alone can arrest and reverse cavities and plaque. It is indeed amazing preventative from that point on, but if a cavity is just forming , you should definitely start a routine (Dr. Ellie’s site, free how-to info) to get rid of that cavity and renew gum health.

    I am glad you mentioned that study and heart attacks many people have been promoting xylitol without raising this very important potential side effect. I kept thinking about these “you tubers” please mention the elephant in the room!
    You also raised the diarrhea issue, on the SCD and Fodmap diets (for stomach disorders) xylitol is not allowed, hence why this may have happened.
    Of course you are not digesting this but a very small amount would remain, I suspect you’re right and this would cause no harm.
    I have no doubt xylitol is good for the teeth but not sure if even a tiny amount left is safe as I say it probably is but I think I will not take the risk.
    Good video that shows all the facts.

  • @DakotaDS
    @DakotaDS 7 днів тому +2

    Xylitol on it's own does not whiten teeth; however, the Ph neutralization that happens, in addition to the stimulation that it gives your saliva glands and ducts, is the secret sauce. Once Ph is neutralized (7.4Ph (Alkalinity to Acidic Range)), your silva will contain minerals that will, over time, re-mineralize your teeth and will lead to a white and stronger enamel presence plus a healthy bio-film. I hope this helps :)
    EDIT NOTE: Your diet needs to include vitamins and minerals in order to have a good level in your blood stream, which your ducts will pull those minerals from, over time.
    Also, if you consume/ingest (swallow) Xylitol, after 12 weeks to 6 months, it can entirely neutralize Strep Mutans from your saliva (Pragmatically speaking but, I have yet to look at any further studies/trials.)

    Isn't it amazing how literally nothing is proactive anymore? Or maybe just really really sad. My big passion is mental health and it is crazy how much medication, such as SSRIs, only cover up the problem, but do not address the true issues.
    You look great though! Definitely the oral hygiene guy by now!

    • @MasterEverydayLiving
      @MasterEverydayLiving  18 днів тому +6

      If you find some unique solution to keep it out of reach from your dogs then let me know so I can recommend it to other peeps!
      I totally agree, we are in a world where reactive solutions are everywhere. Mental health is a big one and the same can be seen with physical health. Instead of doing to work (diet, lifestyle, fitness) to maintain ones body, we have liposuction, Osempic and other crash diets that act as band-aid fixes.
      One thing I do appreciate these quick fixes for is to show the user what is possible with ones body. So using something like medication to understand how it feels to be in a certain state, shows what is possible with healthier habits. This might lead to bigger life changes where you can ease off the medication, while still keeping the same state of mind/body.
      Good luck with your own passions in understanding mental health. Cheers :D

  • @LSinclair
    @LSinclair 8 днів тому +1

    I would suggest considering going easy, or reconsidering altogether your metal pick routine, only because with your good xylitol routine, you’re developing or actually, after 6 months now, have probably already developed a healthy biofilm in your mouth, and picking at may disrupt your thin layer of protective biofilm that Dr. Ellie speaks of with the regular use of xylitol. Hence (she explains in great detail in a UA-cam video) why regular dental cleanings are not helpful in a mouth that doesn’t need a cleaning. Just a thought though. You may be simply removing that left-over now-dead plaque that comes with using xylitol and that is no longer causing harm but just needs to be removed with vigorous brushing or some scraping.

    • @MasterEverydayLiving
      @MasterEverydayLiving  7 днів тому +1

      The metal pick isn't really to scrape teeth for plaque, instead it is to get into specific nooks that I have from my removal of wisdom teeth and some specific big pockets between teeth where I know food can get trapped. Appreciate the concern though, I don't really scrape my teeth with it so my biofilm should be finnneee!

Cant tell you how much i love the effortless effects of xylitol in my toothpaste as well as using mints daily after meals and making a super easy and effective diy mouthwash that has better results than any i have ever bought and have tried them all. Many even natural brands have unneeded added ingredients. All i mix in a glass an 8 oz glass bottle is 1 tsp sea salt, 1 tsp baking soda, 1-2 tsp xylitol, and some peppermint oil. Cant recommend pure xylitol products more as not all the gum and mint brands are created equal. My favorite brands to date are Happy PPL and Spry. Best! ❤

    Don't be scared of trying out xylitol in low doses. I had the upset originally, but eventually got used to it. I've generally always used xylitol gum. It doesn't bother me now.
    For those studies, I was initially scared of it, after learning all about aspartame. But I heard the "studies" weren't done with healthy subjects in the first place. Even more infuriating, I learned that there are overseas studies (Japan and Finland? Or Sweden? Forget now) that were looking into the health benefits, and found that xylitol helps even with cell support. There's a new study happening now in Japan, so interested in those results!
    I got interested in how oral health works, because ancient people have been unearthed with their teeth! Our diets are crazy these days, so trying to learn how to be healthier🥰
    Edit: I meant to mention, I used xylitol candy (Zollipops) to fight my sugar addiction. I would put off brushing my teeth because I planned a "treat" after meals. But then I would graze and never brush my teeth until bed😵‍💫 The xylitol candies helped me to 1) go ahead and brush my teeth, and 2) feel sated that I was having a sweet AND it was good for me! Not like veggies or something, but I was doing a good thing, so it was more satisfying? Instead of being like, "Gosh, I'm being bad, but I deserve a treat (or not, lol)!" It's a bit spendy, but not compared to candy!

    There is some kind of a typo, Helicobacter pylori isnt a periodontopathic bacteria, it causes stomach ulcers. Gingival and periodontal inflammation is caused by a variety of bacteria, which is variable from person to person.

    • @MasterEverydayLiving
      @MasterEverydayLiving  14 днів тому +5

      I just looked into it and from my understanding, the mouth region has tons of different bacteria and the presence of Helicobacter pylori is one of those bacteria. Here is a study mentioning that "H. pylori was detected in seven dental plaque samples (17.9%), two saliva specimens (5.1%), and one dental pulp (2.6%) specimen."
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7344611/
      Here is another study looking at H. Pylori and its impact on oral diseases. It mentions that "H. Pylori is the cause of many oral diseases, including chronic periodontitis (CP). Gingival inflammation, bleeding, periodontal pocket formation, alveolar bone resorption, alveolar bone height reduction, and tooth loss are common symptoms of chronic periodontitis"
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10369707/#:~:text=Pylori%20is%20the%20cause%20of,of%20chronic%20periodontitis%20%5B7%5D.

    I did not know that some people could be so sensitive to xylitol in their stomach. I’m proud of you for sticking with it, and I’m sorry it causes such an inconvenience for your digestion. It proves how our bodies do react differently to things. For 10 years I’ve been using the crystals at the end of everything I eat and drink (I recently tested zero 0 btw on the oral DNA test for decay causing bacteria and plaque) and Ive always swallow the crystals after my saliva flows. yummy and also even settling to my tummy if I’m very hunger and there’s nothing else in my car on a longer ride home. When it’s only 1/8-1/4 tsp at a time (my dose) I’ve never felt anything. Doing repeatedly because it’s just so delicious, however, watching tv at night, I think I have gotten bloated from that sometimes.

      Yes, I do the same. I find that the more I incorporate xylitol into my routine, the less I am attracted to sugar - even my teeth will have a little shooting pain if I use any sugar in my diet. Awesome to hear that you have been using it for 10 years! I will eventually get there but you know how it is, one day at the time :D Human bodies really are interesting, from my understanding, many of these sensitivities are often times "locked in" at an early age depending on your diet or even the moment you were born inherited from your parents.
      This reminds me of how a peanut allergy is uncommon in India due to factors like their diet (lots of peanuts in food and snacks), genetics (parents who have been exposed to peanuts in their diets) and overall wide variety of bacteria exposure that might increase their immunity.
      So all we need to do is to make Xylitol usage mainstream and a few generations down the road, there won't be any stomach issues to speak of :P

    • @MasterEverydayLiving
      @MasterEverydayLiving  18 днів тому +5

      I currently do both oil pulling and Xylitol but not at the same time.
      What I found throughout my experiments and research is that Xylitol needs to be used in the early growth phases of the bacteria. So when I added it to my oil pulling slot the first thing in the morning (which is what I did in my first video on Xylitol), I hardly felt the impact of the Xylitol.
      Only after I added Xylitol right after meals did I feel the impacts of it on the bacteria in my mouth.
      The same thing can be said with using Xylitol after brushing. Since you already have removed most of the bacteria in your mouth with brushing and the end of the day being probably a few hours after your last meal, there is minimal bacteria in your mouth that you can feed with the Xylitol.

Oil pulling recommended last about 10 to 15 minutes if you have the time to do so. Make sure like Paul said, drink more water if you can for the entire day. Also caffeine will reduces/dehydrated your overall water in your body, first and formal will be reduce the consumption of coffee, and drink orange juices or (any juices you like) as an replacement because it contain a lot sugar, make your day pass by easy.

      Sounds like you have some great oral hygiene routines but there is just this one thing that keeps dragging it down and thats... coffee rawr. I used to drink 2-3 cups per day especially during my barista days but currently I only have 1 cup of coffee in the morning and right after I hydrate a lot followed by Xylitol. Coffee really is such a big culprit for bad breath and I haven't found any solutions that have allowed me to drink umlimited coffee without the side effects of dry mouth and bad breath.
      Here are some things that I can think about that might help:
      - Try replacing some of your coffee consumption with something else like tea or honey lemon ginger water.
      - How do you take your coffee? I just take mine black but if you take it with sugar and milk, those extra bacteria have a field day in your mouth in combination with the coffee side-effects.
      - Change your habits by treating coffee as a scarce and expensive habit. So instead of drinking it out of habit, go out to a fancy cafe and spend a bit more on the experience and higher end product, which will then lead you to hopefully drink less coffee overall throughout the day.
      - If you use coffee for the caffeine effects, perhaps look into caffeine pills to get the same effect but without the oral hygiene downsides.
      Good luck with finding your solution. You are soooo close to oral hygiene nirvana :D

    I tried oil pulling a while back and wasn't able to keep consistent with it. I tend to hold a lot of tension in my jaw and grind my teeth, and i found it just tired out my jaw. Is this just a part of it? Or maybe I'm extra-sensitive/doing it too hard 😅 Could also be I'm impatient. Any tips to work around this would be appreciated. Has anyone on the "impatient" spectrum found any good hacks to make it a less tedious experience?

    • @MasterEverydayLiving
      @MasterEverydayLiving  18 днів тому +2

      There are for sure some hurdles with oil pulling but I think you might just be thinking too much on the movement part, it shouldn't make your jaw tired.
      Whenever I oil pull, I don't really tense my jaw at all. Instead, try relaxing your jaw. To move the oil around use your tongue and move it from the top of your mouth to the bottom of your mouth. Also try being kinda like a blowfish, increase the size of your cheek tension, then decrease the tension.
      As for the impatient part, I think the key is to find a time in your morning routine where you overlap it with something else. If you take a morning shower, just plop some in before the shower and overlap it with that. Brew coffee/make breakfast? Start oil pulling when you begin your water kettle/prepare breakfast and when you are done brewing coffee/preparing breakfast, it should be around 15min.
      Good luck with finding what works for you, hopefully you find a "hack" to make oil pulling and Xylitol a seamless part in your routine!

      If you are allergic to Xylitol then there really isn't anything one can do. With that said, I would try using it again and make sure that it is the Xylitol that is causing the itchy skin. Perhaps even lowering the doses of what you are using or using it less times per day (only after the biggest of meals) for atleast some of its effects if your body can tolerate a bit of exposure.
      It seems like you have a really good routine already so being able to weave in Xylitol after meals would be the cherry on top. Good luck with your own continued experimentations!

    Presence of Sucrose And it seems quite effective (i think it make sense because streptococcus mutans is similar to the e.coli that usually is used against) the only problem is there is only 1 study, i didn't find anything else, but seems promising, it seems better than xylitol (but is more studied so...)

    • @MasterEverydayLiving
      @MasterEverydayLiving  15 днів тому +2

      I looked into that study and tried to find more studies around it but like you, didn't find any further research. Here are my thoughts on that study though:
      - It doesn't seem to have been experimented with on humans just yet as they did their 15 PH tests in air-sealed tubes.
      - It looks specifically at the impact of sucrose mixed together with the D-mannose, which is a scenario I don't encounter that much in my day to day life (as in drink sugary drinks).
      - D-mannose seems to be used as one way to treat Urinary Tract Infections so I would be wary of its side-effects on people without UTI.
      The lack of further studies with the use of D-mannose for oral hygiene purposes would make me wary of experimenting with it so I probably won't give it a whirl.
      Appreciate you sending the study my way though, enjoy looking into things like this as you never know when you stumble upon something that might be revolutionary to ones routines :D Cheers!

      I think it is really hard to know exactly when is too much but listening to ones body and weighing the pros and cons of something is key. I think that it is a fair concern and the same amount of scrutiny that you apply to other things in your life like processed foods, sugar/salt/fat amounts, vices (like alcohol) and so on.
      All of these items can lead to health issues too and I think that since Xylitol is somewhat "new", it's health risks seem more scary. Xylitol has been consumed in low doses since the 1970's (especially in Finland where they gave Xylitol candy to the kids in school) and only recently when looking at it as a sugar substitute, do these health concerns come up.
      So I can't tell you where to draw the line on any of these foods, you need to draw the line yourself.

      From my continued usage of Xylitol, I initially started experimenting with the 5-15min duration but over time realize that its more like 3min that is required when using all of the products (gum/mints/crystals). Another thing that works for me is to minimize my meal numbers but eat more in each meal. So I only eat ~2 meals per day, but those two meals are usually really big and with lots of protein rich foods that take lots of time to process. Since I eat less meals, I don't use Xylitol as often, saving some time there.
      So optimize the time of swishing (to 3ish min) + decrease the number of meals per day but make them big and hearty + add some meals that don't require Xylitol (simple salad or plain overnight oats) might shave off some time.
      Perhaps mentally changing the task as something you always overlap with something else is the key to make it seem seamless. Doing the dishes? Xylitol. Taking a walk? Xylitol. Scrolling social media? Xylitol.
      With that said, I think it is all about massaging your own habits and routines to make it work.
      Good luck with finding what works for ya!

      I have only recently begun down this new rabbit hole of oral health information (unsolicited YT algorithm is both a blessing and a curse), trying to absorb what I can from a handful of sources (of which MEL is one!), and while I’ve not yet established a complete new protocol yet (it’s all soo confusing), I have begun the xylitol gum (PUR brand in spearmint) after morning coffee and every meal (rinsing first with water), and what I do is I gently chew it for 5 minutes and sort of allow the saliva to build in my mouth, trying not to swallow most of it and gently moving it around as I chew, and regularly gliding my tongue over all the sides of my teeth to ensure everything is coated. (this part may not be necessary) My diet is super clean (WFPB vegan) but I do have some existing issues, and I’ve had some minor sensitivity flare ups since starting the gum. I’ll give it some more time. Re the oil pulling, I do love the idea of it and did try it years ago, but it was too much for my severe aversion to oil. I may give it another try. I also do occasional Himalayan sea salt rinsing and am trying to evaluate upping its use and when.

      @@rainedyani8505hi , same I used xylitol only 2 month ago and hands down it’s the best thing I used for my oral health , I did use the gum with the same brand you use and also other brands and I didn’t experience any issue except the flavor it wasn’t pleasant for me , I’m not in a position to give an advice but if you want I can tell you my experience ? You might have an allergy when you use xylitol gum which has more ingredient while using the crystal is 100% pure, if you have tooth sensitivity this could indicate due to various reason I’ll share with you what I know , you’re eating or drinking hot or cold , not using fluoride toothpaste , not flossing , doing grinding to you teeth , having tarter , having cavities , these are the main reason I know that cause tooth sensitivity and gums issue , I do prefer regular flossing over water flosser because water doesn’t contact with the teeth as regular flossing , that is what I can think of regarding tooth sensitivity , I would make sure you use fluoride generously by applying it for 30 minutes to your teeth every other day till issue resolve and keep it everyday before going to bed after brushing your teeth , I don’t know what is other existing issue you have but I’ll give you my final thought , For about 3 years I had a little pain in on of my bottom front teeth , the pain was weird it was like something inside my gum and teeth making small tap , I did dental cleaning twice and used oil pulling with cocoanut oil and xylitol and nothing works, for some reason I didn’t asked my dentist and I guess because it was small pain , I’ve seen a lady here in youtube that suffer from gum recession where her tooth are on the way to fall out , she recommend to use wheat grass by mixing it with water and swish for 5 minutes and thats strengthen her gum and solve her problem, she does not recommend oil pulling with coconut oil as it didn’t do anything for her issue , after I read people positive comments of her video and read few article of benefit of wheat grass to the gums, I decided to try it , the pain I used to have for 3 years have gone in a matter of 1 week , when I use the wheat grass I can feel it going inside the place of pain I had , it felt like It’s removing it and it did , so I added wheat grass to my oral health routine and my full routine is as following , once I wake up I use coconut oil with a little bit of xylitol 15 minutes swish and then brush my teeth , xylitol after every meal and one in the middle of day and before bed time, at night flossing then using wheatgrass swish for 5 minutes and then brushing , my toothpaste has xylitol and fluoride after I brush within 3 hours I use xylitol and then go to bed , lastly using salt continuously can make mouth dry and this will lead to many issues , no doubt salt have many benefit but if used in needed condition like taking a tooth out of having small pain but other than needed condition it will cause many problems if used repeatedly , I hope this help .

    I place Xylitol granules in my mouth and it dissolves. How can you spit it out?

    • @MasterEverydayLiving
      @MasterEverydayLiving  15 днів тому +1

      It dissolves with your saliva and then becomes this liquid in your mouth. Keep moving it around in your mouth and then spit it out when you are done.

      I usually try not to mention or link brands unless one is superior to another, however here are all the ones I have used, Pur (gum), Zellies (gum and mint), Now Real Food Xylitol (Crystals), Health Garden Xylitol (Crystals) and Krisda Xylitol (Crystals). All of these worked well for me and I would lean more towards a crystal format over gum and mints.

    All I needed to know was that it kills dogs and cats so I don’t want it in my house. Just a little bit and that’s it for them. So I I try to keep anything that has xylitol in it out of the house it’s not worth it!

    What if I want to chew my gum longer say 10 mins is that ok?

      In my opinion, if it doesn't upset your stomach and you don't get gassy then go for it. Chew as long as you want!
