No such thing as a perfect city/country but I must say what Chinese govt were able to achieve with 1.4B people and from an agricultural backward economy to arrive to what it is today is a monumental achievement of epic proportions. That you have to give full credit to the Chinese govt and its hardworking, high saving , smart people. No country has come close to what they have achieved in 3 decades. They have now arrived on the world stage with pride. Congrats.

No, as a Chinese I will not give any credit to the CCP, and especially not the Xi Jinping led CPP. Do you know what happened in the cultural revolution? Do you know what happened on 1989 June 4th? Do you know there are literal slave labor camps in Myanmar and Cambodia set up by Chinese triads and protected by the CCP? Do you know they are shipping fentanyl and its precursors to the Mexican and Columbian cartels? CCP is nothing but the biggest and most powerful triad in China. They are a criminal organization that took power, that's all, and Chinese will never be free under their rule.

On Chinese students. Im in advertising in Malaysia. I was once approached by a UK college to plan a campaign to attract Malaysian Chinese students to their college. Upon asking and discussing with the UK college's middle person (agency) i learned that the reduction of Chinese students to UK isnt only affecting their income, but most importantly, affecting the rankings of the UK colleges! That dawn on me, the rankings attract Asian students, and the Asian student's higher school fees supports the school, but also the Asian students were the top scorers that uplifts the rankings of these schools!

China is the main key player in UK because mainland chinese student go to uk and buy apartment and spend in their country and other asian countries like singapore, malaysia, thailand, vietnam and india international students go uk to spend their money and get a degree. I am German and I live in China for more than 5 years. It is sad how China is portrayed in the western media. And it is actually even more sad that so many people buy into it. The thing is that many westerners think that in the west propaganda doesn’t exist. Because they believe they live in a democracy in the free world. But yeah it is so wrong. Believe me.
As a German living in Germany I can tell you one thing. Germans often talk no good about China. Especially because of the media. But in contrast if you ask Chinese about Germany, they normally are showing a very positive attitude. They talk about how great the technology is in Germany and the social system. So do you see the difference??
This is just one thing. There is so much I would like to say about it.
China is an amazing country and I can tell anybody. If you didn’t even visit China and really experience the culture, you have no right to judge about this country.
China is amazing and the new land of opportunities. And I will try to open more and more peoples eyes in my country. ❤

In fact, this kind of misunderstanding harms those who accept it, not the ones being misunderstood. As Chinese people in Germany share their experiences, more and more Chinese are beginning to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Germany. This won't affect China's development. The media's dedication to discrediting China only dumbs down the people of its own country. It's so foolish.

i took a class my sophomore year of college and didnt realize we'd be traveling to china until halfway through the 1 semester. we had an incident right before leaving where some of the tibetan students were prohibited from going. this along with my general disinterest in china at all especially compared to my interest in other parts of asia, particularly korea and japan, i didnt have a good impression at all. but oh my god was i dead wrong. i was able to travel to all 3 countries on the same trip and by far, BY FAR, china was the most enjoyable. it genuinely reshaped my entire life. i went to the great wall which was the coolest experience ever, it felt like climbing on something from a dream. and even though we had to wear masks upon arrival, the air can actually be so clean!!! i dont know how to explain it. everything was just so open and spacious. compare that to the super narrow streets of tokyo or the huge skyscrapers in seoul, tbh, it felt really sterile sometimes. not that there isnt places like that in china too, but because everything is so open, it doesnt feel suffocating. we went during the lunar new year so there were beautiful lights everywhere you went, antique looking shops that felt so surreal, such wide open walkable areas with absolutely no traffic, with natural vegetation, but also mixed with traditional and modern designs. everything felt so clean but not in a sterile way. and it just felt like a real place with real people. and the food was insanely good. some of the best noodles and dumplings i have ever had in my entire life at the most random spots in some random ally. chinese food is so diverse yet so unique. but it was 1000000x better in china than in the u.s where im from. i will NEVER forget the most delicious peking duck experience i had, or the insane hot pot i had at global harbor mall in shanghai. that country is absolutely being demonized by people who have no damn clue what theyre talking about. its been 7 years now and i am aching to go back.

The following article is written by Ismail Bashmori, he is an Egyptian China watcher.
The truth is that China is the greatest country on the face of the earth. It makes all other countries look insignificant and contemptible. It is the most brilliant, most industrious, most ambitious, most educated, meritocratic and technocratic, most modern, sophisticated, and civilised, and best-governed by far.
It is the first non-white, non-Western country to reach this status since the 1600s. The determination of this country is indescribable. Supernatural. There is no force that can stop it from accomplishing anything it wants to do. 。
It doesn’t matter who we are. Egyptians, Syrians, Pakistanis, Indians, Africans, even Americans. Next to the Chinese, we are pathetic. We can’t do what they do. We would have a mountain, an Everest of changes to make, and we would whine and bicker and fail at every one of them. China’s story since the 1980s has been one of an almost divine metamorphosis. 。
Next to China the entire Western world from Alaska to New Zealand has stagnated. Next to China the entire developing world from Brazil to Madagascar has progressed only at a crawl.
China is the mother of all gargantuan bullet trains. Every day it manages to create something new and astonishing. And unlike the United States, unlike the British Empire, unlike the French, Dutch, Germans, Spanish, Portuguese or any other Western nation that had its turn at being a superpower in the past four centuries, China doesn’t need to run anybody over or take something from somebody else, to rise majestically.
China is also standing up to the West all by herself. The West can’t believe their four-hundred-year-old global supremacy is being challenged. They hoped that the more China developed, the more it would submit to their influence, interests, and leadership. That didn’t happen. So now they will do anything possible, short of a nuclear war, to make China end.
Their goal is to destroy this country. That’s why, although the United States has killed several million people and turned several regions of the earth into hellscapes.
China is the worst fear of our planet’s Western masters. They want you to despise and dread a country that’s done nothing to you, that hasn’t invaded anyone, bombed or sanctioned anyone, that hasn’t overthrown any foreign government, or used its military on anything since 1979.
China is the only major country in the nonwhite developing world, to stand up to the West. To look it in the eye when challenged or threatened.
The Global South are simply Western puppets who submitted long ago. Even the most powerful ones. Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India.
Above only part of the article, you can read the full article under the following link.

Using prisons as a deterrence doesn’t work. The USA has a harsh system of punishing prisoners, but 80% of those prisoners commit more crimes after prison. In contrast, Norway focuses on REFORMING prisoners, so only 20% of prisoners there commit crimes after prison.
That’s what works: using prisons to REFORM prisoners, making them into law-abiding citizens.

It seems that the culture, the places have stood still nearly 50 years. China was so poor and had been brutally oppressed over two centuries. As Hong Kong Chinese we could not figure out too how China has been able to arrive at the situation today. Billions of people have worked hard and fought for the nations to achieve the incredible. Hopefully China could continue to help many countries to grow and to be united instead of fighting and quarrelling as a way to survive. Everyone needs wisdom as well as hard work to live. I had a very similar eye-opening journey myself through the years. It might take a very long time to leave behind the shackles put on us by the corporate media concerning China and other socialist countries. I had to study the language, live there, and only after years of study and experience I have managed to reach a better understanding of the country and its history.
For me, the final nail in the coffin for the clownish approach by Western media and politics was how China was treated during the Covid-19 pandemic. After that, I have absolutely no respect whatsoever for anything related to China that comes out of those "sources".

Everyone criticizing the CCP never understood the concept of “水能载舟,亦能覆舟“/the water(the mass) can carry the boat, it can also sink the boat”. There is a check and balance between the people and the government. To think the Chinese people are oppressed into accepting a dictatorship is western arrogance. The Chinese people chose to accept a centralized government which existence depends on its performance for the benefit of the people. The constitution grants Americans the protection of weapons against a tyrannical government. The chinese has sheer numbers, 1.4 billion.

There are 1.4 billion Chinese citizens, so no government will survive if the people didn’t allow it to be. The people understand the power in numbers, so does the government.
To answer your question, the fact that the current government still exists is evidence of acceptance by the majority. It doesn’t matter what type of government it is, it only matters that it works for China and its citizens.
If you want to be technical, I’m Chinese American and I don’t remember American citizens signed anything in particular to accept the two-party system either.

My biggest regret in life is that I failed to take up the opportunity to go to China as a young man and I didn't get another chance until 30 years later when I was middle aged. I subsequently had the best 15 years of my life in China, but I am now back in the West. However, I return to China frequently to rejuvenate my spirits and I look forward to going back again very soon. China is so unlike its western portrayal in the MSM and well done for noticing this and brining it to the attention of younger Westerners (and others) like yourself! I really want to convey that although the message the video paints out is of course not wrong and valuable for people under media missinformation of China to understand, it doesn't paint out the whole picture. However great being able to see the bright side of China to the once misinformed people is, you shouldn't suddently change opinion on the country from absolutely anti-China to pro-China. The key is always to understand the whole picture instead of just taking sides, especially in this age of time where internet misinformation is massive. Just like anyone can tell that there are good parts and bad parts to their own country, the goal of understanding China is the same. If there are bright side in what I like, then we should find the same for others, and at the same time, when feeling disappointed by aspects of our own country or community, please be aware of that there are disappointing parts in other countries or community too.
I'm a Chinese myself, and unlike the video's message, or how many Chinese out there would've express their view on China, my view on her is always a love and hate situation. And I believe it should've been natural for people to have such feeling towards their country, community or cultures, but many who absorb such information and do comment on the internet rarely have that. And I'm tired of it, there is always that "you either have to hate it in every aspect or love it in every aspect", it's always happening in the Western communities. Like for example on this topic of portraying China, people are either expressing how much China is a distopia, or expressing how much they came to realize that China actually is ideal to live in in many aspect, and while also criticizing the whatever home country. Rarely do I see people criticising China, while pointing out that there are better things in them, or the other way around. And of course it isn't just happening in Western world, and in fact, the reason I'm willing to write so much about it is because how badly such polarization of the internet is happening in China on the Chinese internet environment. Every time that I encounter video of simular content like this, for example all the criticism on Western media for the Wukong game came out recently, there are like over fifty percent commenters Chinese. And what they would comment are only how perfect the game really is to them or along side others to criticize western media even more, it's ridiculous. Please always remind our selves that there are always a lot more great things out there, there aren't any complete best or worst, and there aren't any complete right or wrongs.

“Safe” is relative by the way. I have been robbed in Guilin and Xi An before. The living condition and the actual experience in China is complicated. Not saying everything is all bad or all good. It is more in the grey area in between. In Chinese culture there is a concept of doing things for the greater good and the government (it’s kinda perversed to just mean the party now) is like your mother and you never show disrespect to your parents. For example “the great infrastructure” you see in China in tier 1 cities is at the cost of destroying history and culture. Many houses that were built in the dynastic periods or hubs of traditional Chinese culture was torn down to build that. Also pollution reduction, it is true air pollution had been reduced, but pollution had been increased in other areas. For example, the advent of bikeshare and EV taxis in China created a lot of fraudulent businesses that will establish these businesses to get the government subsidies and abandon the business causes landfills in China to be filled with brand new EVs and ebikes. Sure you can’t blame the government when private businesses want to scam money until you realize many of those businesses are actually owned by local politicians. Politicians in China often front run government policies to rake up business opportunities. Another example of this is during COVID the companies that produced the vaccines and COVID test kits in China are all owned by politicians. Also during lockdown period they temporarily implemented a policy of government subsidized food courts. Guess who suddenly established a bunch of new catering businesses right before that policy passed? Once again, local politicians. Also the thing regarding ethnic diversity in China. Yes China is ethnically diverse but very few of the people in the “minority culture centers” in China are actually the ethnicity they are performing as. They are all Han Chinese. It is on record on CCTV a Mongolian news anchor broke out in tears while still have to put up a smiling face when she had to report on a news that implied the government is Han washing Inner Mongolia and getting rid of the local Mongolian culture and heritage. China is complicated. There are three worlds that exists there. The world of people that can’t speak Chinese or don’t have full understanding of nuances in Chinese, the world of the middle class and higher/poorer people that directly benefited from Chinese image building policies, then finally there is the world of the people that live in poverty, is a racial minority, or have ancestry that are linked with people that were anti communist party. There is a reason why if you talk with local people of the older generation that lives in tier 1 cities, they don’t have a lot good to say about the government if they are allowed to speak anonymously. It seems like I listed out a lot of bad points but there are good points. The good point is, if you can afford to live in tier 1 cities and do not have morale/political opinions. Just living an everyday life where you just work, eat, and play. Don’t say anything that would accidentally insult the Chinese (which is difficult since there was a Chinese cosplayer that got arrested before for cosplaying, saying that wearing Japanese clothing in China is an insult to the Chinese people). The. China is a great place to live. It is safe. It is convenient. Average cost of living isn’t super high other than housing prices. Just don’t think about at what cost the country did to achieve it, because it is all for the greater good.
Source: I lived in China for ten years in both Shanghai and Beijing. I am fluent in the language. My wife and her family is from the poorer areas of China and her parents directly benefited from one of the party’s “image building policies”.

2+ years? I thought you arrived last week. China will change your view-not this year, not the next. I also remember myself pretending not to see what was obvious to my Chinese friends. I remember how I was blinded by the shining lights of the same cities you're exploring now. I remember how I loved believing their BS, how I was fascinated by the language, the culture, the food, and the people... it felt like life in paradise. Then, after about 10 years, the lie started to collapse. It became harder and harder to justify all the nonsense I was seeing there. I know you're not ready to hear this, so enjoy your time there, young man.
