There's no tip culture, set up your phone with Alipay or Wechat Pay when you arrives, you won't survive without your phone; take Didi or Gaode for Taxi to save money, the illegal taxi might charge you for more; don't book a hotel that's far away from your destination, because the city is larger that you might expect; finally, go to Beijing for history, Shanghai for Modernazation, Shenzhen for technology, Chengdu and Chongqing for leisure and food. 144 hours travel policy is open, welcome everyone.

I’m glad to see you doing China videos. I’ve lived in Shanghai for the last 4 years and absolutely love it here. The way of life, cost of living and financial comfort that comes from living here is great. But people back home in the UK still think of China as a 3rd world country that’s dangerous to live in and that’s not the case at all. I’ve felt safer here than I have ever done in the UK.
The only thing that makes me feel uneasy is standing out as a foreigner. Less so in Shanghai as that city has so many there. But absolutely, the cost of living and I believe they are more advanced than us already.
@ you definitely do stand out as a foreigner. And being 6”6’ doesn’t help with me either. But you kinda get used to it. I rarely get people staring at me anymore in my local community because they are so used to seeing me. But during the Chinese holidays when many people from around China visit Shanghai you notice it a lot more. But cost of living is so much cheaper. Rent can still be fairly expensive in the city Center. But everything else is so cheap. 30p to use the subway, £3 for a 30 minute taxi ride. Food shop for a week less than £100 for a family of 3. It allows so much more money for things like days out, activities and holidays.
I was in Chongqing, and loved it there. Chongqing is one of the stunning cities in China. It would blow your mind if you spent more time to find out about this city.

Ben, just so you know, there are "converted" hotels across many Chinese major cities like the one you stayed at in Chongqing. They are not the traditional hotels where you would normally find a fancy gate and lobby on the ground floor to check in, but they were converted from ordinary high rise flats and because such a hotel is normally run by small business owners, they can't rent the entire building but only a few floors and converted them into "hotel" rooms. This is much like an airbnb or service apartment whatever you would like to call it. Also, an elevator in these high rises normally go to certain floors only to separate traffic and save people's time.
I guess you are talking about homestay apartments. It’s not recommended for short lodging because their environments are quite different, the expensive homestay are quite good, but the cheap ones may lack of service and quality😂. low budget recommendations: hotel >homestay Enough budget recommendations: homestay >hotel Welcome to Chongqing. I believe in Tokyo they also have a train that goes through a building. It is crazy how countries like USA, UK, Australia etc, try to demonise China and discredit their achievements, simply because of different social and economic ideals. They should stop trying to "one up" China and embrace the country as a friend.
Not a train but a highway that goes through the building.
China has builded a very prosperous and advanced from almost nothing with a population of 1.4 billion people. Its just mind boggling.
Yes china home of the COVID VIRUS great place !
@@passby8070 It really is impressive especially when you look at where they were even just 40 years ago. Apparently starting from the late 70s China pulled something like 800 million people out of poverty. Incredible development.

I am an Indian, really good to see such clean and good places, India is definitely decades behind and I believe more Indians should be aware of such places so we know it's possible to have such clean and organised places
It is True, India will get there in time.tc
200 years behind
@@idonothavetime I think at least 100 years. Decades is too optimistic.
India is more like thousands of years behind. 😂
@@willchu You live in 18th century...visit hitech Cities of India in every major states u have many we dont create concrete jungle we make hitech City with lots of trees around n not too many sky scrapers...
Chongqing, between all the hills, and 100s of meters of tunnels to reach the subway, will keep you in shape! 😅
PS: I am speaking from personal experience cause I lived there for half a year!
you mean the humid heat and hot pot?😅
You got that right my man !

Three of my friends visited India last year. One got serious diarrhea, one got serious diarrhea plus skin rashes, and the third got his wallet and passport stolen..... Not a place that will make tourists too happy
Good video, man!!
Your friend Catherina is so sweet and kind. I love her (I meant that in a good way) cheers bro.
God bless you both.
Refreshing to see such a big city without any kebab technicians. Just local and national food culture that survived centuries!
Just got back from the UK and they are at least a decade or 2 ahead of us in the midwest US but this more or less is 2050 cyberpunk Night City lol china really has some wild sights it seems. Beipanjiang Bridge cost 1.02 billion ¥ and took 6 years whereas i75 in ohio between dayton and Cincinnati has been under constant construction since the 60s and prob cost billions since. Just $618 million to open a new exit off the highway currently...we dont know what we are doing.
Agreed, we talked about HSR from San Francisco to Los Angeles decades ago, and it’s STILL under discussion…
The United States spent $15.9 billion on this year's elections, which is enough money for China to build a 55 kilometer long super sea crossing bridge
@@yukonzhang3034 And during the same period of time, China built over 40KM HSR and we still have 0KM HSR.
Beautiful country mate Catarina. Proud of you
I’ve been to China about 16 times. Love it.😊
welcome back to China anytime, highly recommend you to visit some small ancient towns in Guizhou, Yunan, Hunan, Jiangxi. Of course if you like city vibe come to here in Shenzhen.

Hey Ben. Please go to more places in China and show and evaluate them objectively, thank you very much. I have always wanted to go to China, but my friend said that Chinese people are not friendly and dangerous. I have been following you for so long and I trust you very much, so I am looking forward to you expressing your true feelings. I wish you a happy trip.

Excellent series so far 👍
Welcome to China, you guys just look like in a rush, please have more vedios and for each city you will visit! We really want to see more videos of Chinese cities! Thanks!~
China opening up to tourists (visa on arrival) is a genius move. Creators visit, see China with their own eyes and realize how far behind their own countries have fallen and how their politicians and media have lied to them about China.
Actually China is actively closing out tourist and making it travel unfriendly. They want to be isolated
Praising a totalitarian regime that enjoys scanning your face when you buy a bottle of milk. You must be from a country that has never experienced totalitarianism
Fr China and Japan feel like they're 10 years more advanced
It’s China basically sticking it to western governments (again)😂😂
我也这么认为😂
Opened my mind to china, nothing like I expected. Good work Ben
I've been to China many times, and every vist, I find myself lining the country even more. Guilin was my last adventure, I recommend it to everyone as a place to visit at least once in your life
你应该去四川的川西,那里才是最美的地方
@@波哥-081 Next time I will - thanks for the suggestion. I also make the planning for doing time and not same mistakes to visit in summer 🥵🥵🥵 😂
It's really not that confusing if you think of the topography of the land they cleverly built the city in. It's just cliffs and hills with well placed and planned buildings and bridges.
Seven is a great guide... But wait until you meet Eleven!! 😅
7-11's everywhere in China.
is he going to "The Upside Down" next?

Very nice, I'm going to visit Beijing and Shanghai over next 2 weeks. You should come to those cities too!!
Great video as usual. I used Saily in Cambodia recently. Easy to use and good customer service.

Ben, Will you go to Nanjing. Go there to visit the Nanjing Massacre memorial hall, I live in England I know you were not taught in school about Nanjing Massacre . It's the darkest side of human history. All European countries and the US didn't teach this history in their schools, but it's the very important history everyone should know.
And don't forget to check Unit 731 .You were get shocked .
