- She was born to sing and the practice she received during her childhood, no doubt, also set her up for all the success she would inevitably achieve in the future. However, numerous professional as well as personal setbacks in her life would send her on a downward spiral to rock bottom that she thought she’d never recover from. Let’s find out what happened to American R&B singer Tweet.

Southern Hummingbird Is One Of The Most Underrated Albums Of The Millennium....
Correct.
I still bump that whole album to this day. "Beautiful" is still my favorite track (also where it skipped the most 😂)
Soo good
@@fromlissawithlove Right. The Maxwell Urban Hang Suite is my jam backed by D'Angelo Brown Sugar.
Facts!!
Tweet also did background vocals on “Cranes In the Sky” by Solange🎶😌
I love that she’s always stayed true to herself 💪🏽
Yooooooo i didn’t know that
And “Miss You” by Aaliyah! “It’s been too long and I’m lost without you” that hook is her 😍
Omg whaaat
@@IAmVisionXo Beautiful hook! 💕
Love her. She's beautiful and talented! ♥️
Got to give a shout out to Missy Elliott for actually saving her life I mean that's why tweet calls her her guardian angel
Was I the only one watching Tweet guest star on "The Parkers"?🙋🏿♂️
She definitely has talent. A shame people didn't hear from her since the early 00's.
You were NOT the only one. “I can get ya a free Gap poster” lol
I never realized how plain gorgeous Tweet is. Her stunning dark brown chocolate tone always exuded confidence in her skin and I always admired her for being a risk-taker regarding topics in her music. It's forever beyond me why Goldmind didn't ready "Smoking Ciggarrettes", "Drunk" & "Beautiful" as legit singles off her debut. The sounds and the lyrics were powerful & beautifully arranged; Tweet's pen game was no joke she always drew from personal pain just as her mutual peer Static Major of Playa (R.I.P.) did for Aaliyah & JoJo.
Yes! I remember thinking she had great skin. Not one damn blemish.
She was always in awe with her beauty. She truly is stunning and her voice only matches her beauty 💖
Her daughter is her twin. Damn! They're so pretty.
That's exactly what I thought- are they sisters or mom/daughter?
I was wondering what happened to Tweet ever since Missy made Throw It Back and said "I made records for Tweet, before y'all even could tweet." My favorite song from her is Always Will.
Her appearance on the Parkers was awesome!!
“Southern Hummingbird” was a such surprise masterpiece. I did not expect that album to be that damn good.💪🏾
Very true! I believe that album would've went platinum if the record company had released another single(s). I thought her album was better than Ashanti's.
THE MOST UNDERRATED VOCALIST OF OUR GENERATION PERIOD
A story on Nicole Wray would be dope too
She has a 20 min video on bet UA-cam channel called finding Nicole Wray from like last year that actually interviews het
@@agluv7360
Yes
That was really good
Absolutely!!! SO underrated!!
Yassss! Her name needs to be recognized along with the rest of Missy Elliott's protegees Gina Thompson, Mocha, Torrey Carter, Brianna Perry, Jessica Betts, Danja Mowf, Sharaya J and So Def. Only three out of those names are still making music underground, the others simply retired. I'd like to see their memory kept alive through these mini-doc uploads. Love these! A synopsis on Missy in general wouldn't hurt either, love that multi-talented legendary music figure.
YESSSSSS im waitin on that too
Tweet was what the game was missing and they took so many naps on her..... With a voice like that she should've been way bigger I don't even smoke cigarettes but "smoking cigarettes" was my shit 💙💙
Me too lol... U would think I do the way I still listen to that song.... So melodic... So calming...
They made a video for 'Smoking Cigarettes" and I wish they'd release it! This was a lot of her fan's favorite song!
Yes
I still play her first album weekly! She has an amazing voice!
I hope we get one on Goapele in the future! I loveee this channel ✨
Stay tuned! 😉
@@JuicyPopEntertainment cant waitttt! Thanks for such awesome content!
Yesss! Can’t wait to watch that.
And Tweet also had a cameo appearance in the 2003 movie Honey along with Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, Blaque, Ginuwine, Silkk the Shocker just to name a few
That was an amazing movie!
@@PurplePinkRed yes
This generation don’t have enough Tweet, But damn every time I watch these videos Missy Eliot stay be giving these sistas CPR love it
I was singing "Oops!" when I was a little girl! Not knowing anything about the song's true meaning, lol.
older folk were probably thinking "Oh my!"
Same lol
Missy Elliott recently came out and said it was about "self-love" as in...loving the skin you're in as a dark skinned woman. 🤥 She knows damn well that wasn't it. 😂😂
Me too love.. 😅
Tweet deserves her flowers!
Definitely....
Yes indeed
I still have her CD
'Southern Hummingbird'.♥️🎶
I remember when Tweet and her song 'Call Me' were featured in a Verizon cell phone commercial waaay back in the day.
She DEFINITELY should be bigger than she is!
Her daughter looks like her twin 😮 They’re both so beautiful
A story on Gina Thompson would be dope too
Gina is my daughter's aunt. She's doing very well. She has some gospel music out.
@@deviiineminor7988 ok
@@deviiineminor7988 😁
Smoking Cigarettes is still a bop to this day! Tweet is so beautiful with an equally beautiful voice!
Major crush on this woman. 'Turn da lights off' is a banger.
Back up off my woman
That beat to 'turn da lights off" though!
I also remember Tweet sang on Timbaland and Magoo's All Y'all song that song was fire!!
Oh yes song was fire
I always loved that song
That was amazing story about Tweet. Her daugther is so lookalike.Dont forget she did a tribute to Aaliyah did collaboarated with Missy Elliot. She is amazing.
I still jam Southern Hummingbird till this day. Also, how about doing a video on Nicole Wray in the near future?
She has a bet thing here on UA-cam
I think it’s finding Nicole wray on bet yt channel
Southern Humming Bird is amazing, maybe the last truly raw R&B album made.
Call Me is also a banger as well
Love that song
Her song Smoking Cigarettes.... Omg the vocals🥰🥰
Oops (Oh My) by Tweet is still a banger!!
As a teenager I never paid attention to what the song actually meant. 😄. It was 🔥 tho.
Yup.......
Thank you for this video on my girl Tweet. Southern Hummingbird is a classic and i still listen to this album to this day!!
Yes…. Southern Hummingbird stays on rotation!
I looooove this woman and Sunshine Anderson 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
"My Place" was a song I played on repeat almost everyday during a depression I went through in 2019
Last year after my break up I played "I Admit It" almost all the time too
Tweets music touches me deep. It's full. It's consistent. She's a legend to me
So glad she is doing well. Tweet is so talented and I’m glad she is staying true to herself. Her and her daughter are gorgeous.
That lady has lost her mind
@@long2885
What do you mean?
Love this channel because I find out about true talented individuals from my parents generation who were overshadowed, not to mention the introduction is dope 🔥 keep it up!
First comment! Yay, I didn’t know you would actually do her! Her first album is so good.
I swear, Tweet and her daughter could easily pass as twins!
I love Tweet! Boogie 2nite and call me soul society remix are my jams! Southern Hummingbird album is honestly deserving of wayyyyyy more props
I respect tweet for staying true to herself and her values something most artists don't know the meaning of nowadays
I feel sorry for tweet, she has been through way too much crap and I feel she deserves so much better
I love Tweet so much, my favorite R&B diva. Love her work
I love her and I think she is an underrated singer I don't think she'll get as much credit as she deserves. The song called me will forever be a beautiful song to me! And I will never understand why people keep running to Matthew Knowles thinking that he is going to make them as big as her daughter. He will never make anyone as big as his daughters I wish these people would understand that and that will save them a lot of heartache and time. I mean think about it his own kids don't like him
Southern Hummingbird still in rotation.
I’m glad she followed her passion. 👍
Love me some tweet 💕 she also did background for solange’s album seat at the table
Good for her man… I never got the chance to REALLY enjoy her work at the time of release sadly, but I love seeing people born to do this take control of it and not let this effed up industry break them. Never knew her struggles either. Be strong woman. 🖤🖤
I was not expecting the relationship with Jamal Bryant….
I think alot of people from that era would agree with me when l say that, yes she was very talented and gifted in the sense of her vocal skills, but her entire style was identical to everyone's sweetheart "AALIYAH", therefore since so many people (myself included) weren't ready to easily forget Aaliyah's tragic death and move on? This is probably why one of the main reasons Tweets success didn't take off and elevate to a higher level. Especially when Missy Elliott brought Tweets out, it felt like Missy Elliott was trying to give us another Aaliyah to the world after her passing and that was, is and forever will be extremely impossible to accomplish!! There's only ONE AALIYAH.But bless her life (Tweets) wherever she may be. ❤️
Violator Records had a lot of acts on there RIP Chris Lighty
Southern Hummingbird is so slept on its a crime.. My place.. Smoking cigarettes.. Beautiful... Best friend just to name a few is still some of the best r&b music to drop in the 00's PERIOD..... Thats the music that's missing today... I listen to that album at least twice a week.
Agree! Definitely a classic album! An album you can listen to with no skips!
Tweet went into a depression and left Mona Scott’s management after Missy picked Eva Marcille over her…. Allegedly! After that heartbreak her career was never the same
Wow really
Thank you! I thought I was going crazy. I didn’t see or hear anything about her long rumored relationship with Missy. Back in the day, I heard they broke up somehow and Missy ditched her career wise bc of it.
Heavy price for fame
TWEET IS A QUEEN!!
Wow her and her daughter are stunning
Love me some Tweet and her daughter. Unique sounds and looks
One of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard! I still catch myself singing “Oh My” til this day!
I forgot how beautiful she is.
Thanks for this video, not too long ago me and my bestie were remembering her time-her album back in 2002 was just, uff!🔥. She used to be played A LOT in radio, clubs, traffic jams (car 2 car), back home in Puerto Rico. Loved them times, be blessed everybody!
Smoking Cigarettes 🚬 will always be a favorite song of mine. I was singing that at 10 years old in 02'. My big sister was a senior in high school and was blasting Tweet and Amerie! I loved both albums know the songs from beginning to end.
All those hardships and she STILL hasn’t aged
Turn Da Lights Off was also produced by former rap star turned producer Kwame Holland
That's my jam.....
I got the 12" single, incredibly underrated
I ❤️ Tweet, I ❤️ her smooth melanin skin. My favorite songs is Oops and Smoking Cigarettes 🚬… You are on it sis may your channel grow bigger ☺️.
Thank you for the support.🥰
@@JuicyPopEntertainment you are very welcome 🤗.
Skin is flawless. That was about 50%of my crush on her.
Smoking Cigarettes is the truth baby💯💯💯🥰
@@nerdguru86 you are exactly right ☺️.
I miss Tweet.
I do.
She is a very lovely young lady met her in person I wish her all the best 🤗
People from Rochester stand up⬆️
"TURN DA LIGHTS OFF" my fav from her it's a hidden treasure... and her feature on "take away" 💋
Tweet has always been one of my favorites because of how much I love her representation of being a dark skinned woman, it makes me proud 😘😘
Honey is still one of my favorite movies ever!!
Me and my sister used to play Southern hummingbird everyday backwards and forwards and it was never duplicated which was sad
I've always liked that intro music they have on these videos
She's so good, her music still sounds amazing, why is she not famous
Her daughter can SANG!
Wow what a phenomenal story ‼️‼️👑👑 Queens rise in the chapter ❤️❤️
her & her daughter are twins 😍😍
I love and adore Tweet....her music is amazing....people need to go back and listen to the treasures she's produced and sang on....she's totally awesome.🥰💜
Tweet is soooooo beautiful too!
I remember her song “smokin’ cigarettes” … it all makes sense now. I pray for her healing and wish her well.
God bless her!!
Love your vids! Can you do Blu Cantrell?
Stay tuned! 😉
Her career was going so well! But then things came to a sudden stop. This woman's background vocals are amazing! Her album "Southern Hummingbird" almost went platinum. She's very underrated and a talented songwriter.
I love all her albums but something about that southern hummingbird ❤️
I used to have the biggest crush on Tweet. So beautiful… ❤️
She's gorgeous!
I only ever heard that one song oops with Missy on the radio never heard of her before but really like her voice
Gosh, I really despise these money-hungry pastors. Just out here using people for money and selling a dream to people who want to have a relationship with God. Smh
Those people will be judged the most harshly. They will have thier day
More and more people are waking up to this, thank God.
Taxi was my favorite song her, from the motion picture Taxi by Queen Latifah
God I hope they release the full versions of sugars songs on the bassment they were so underrated and the songs were 🔥 I have the EP with all the shortened songs on there hoping one day they will release the full songs.
One of my favorites!
Very under-appreciated.
This woman is GORGEOUS omggg bless her
The fact that I remember growing up people would say that she was ugly like bish where she's F'ING gorgeous like I don't get it but aside from her beauty she could sing and her voice was just so soothing people slept on her
AND OH BOY JAMAL BRYANT.......
It's unfortunate that her career went nowhere.
I love southern hummingbird
Thanks for the info on Tweet. Can you please make videos on Jesse, Trina, & Tamara Powell? Thank you.😊
This is the world that we live people who can't even hold ah tune get all the opportunities then you have pple like tweet who is drop dead gorgeous and can sang this kinda stuff breaks my heart
To simplify the videos just call them forgotten one hit wonders
Southern Hummingbird track10.Beautiful 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 timeless classic💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I'm never gonna forget when Tweet turned down Maxwell live on the radio when e asked if they can go out
Say what now? 😲
@@JuicyPopEntertainment Tweet in 2000 or 2001 was being interviewed on the radio here in NYC and Maxwell called in and it was really Maxwell and he said how he was feeling her and wanted to go out with her and she said “no… I can’t… “ and the host said “…what???! That’s Maxwell!!..” And Tweet said “…I know but I can’t…”
@@PharaohLawLess1 Well damn! 😂
@@JuicyPopEntertainment I believe it was when Tweet went on the Wendy Williams radio show when she was WBLS
I still to this day can't understand why turn the lights off didn't make it.. that song is so sweet and soulful
She is very 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋 and miss her 🎶
