- I compare Bulletstorm's brand new remastered Full Clip Edition with the original game. As always, there are some pros and cons, as you can see from my side-by-side comparisons and crossfades. For example, the lighting in some scenes is completely different, so that completely different moods are created. Also, some textures in the remaster appear more blurred than in the original.

Some things look better in the original, some things look better in the remaster. Tree and bush leaves look better, water looks better and more realistic, god rays are toned back a bit in some scenes because of HDR. Also, post-processing level has a significant effect on how good the remaster looks, and there's no mention of system specs, resolution, or what the settings are for the comparison.

Thanks for the video, not going to bother upgrading. The old one looks just fine. Actually prefer its clear, slightly bluish tint to the more brown / yellow of the new one.
I'm always impressed when someone takes something, makes it worse, and then charges 50 dollars for it... bravo.

the original looks better stylistically IMO, the newer one has nice AA but other than that looks bland
Getting a remaster on a game that's barely 6 years old is like someone getting a facelift in their 20s
Just as baffling a decision as remastering Crysis or Call of Duty. And the original games always land up looking better than the remasters anyway.

I wasnt even aware they made a "remastered" of this game. I just now heard of it after looking at some of Game Intros and Finales Duke Nukem comparison video. I still ain't paying $50 for this same game that works fine regardless of windows live shit.

Сама игра высший класс. Так что играть стоит в любом случае, оригинал или ремастер.

That's a joke, in almost every scene original looks much better. Only "mines"(not sure it's the correct name) level looks a little bit better in the Remaster, but that's all. In any other scene original looks better than this remaster(!), and it cost 46 Euro on Steam. You got to be kidding me, paying that much to get worse version. I'm staying with the original(still not even started it, but i bought it some time after first release) :P .

Yeah i know, but i have many other fun games too. For sure this day will come, when i'll finally play Bulletstorm :D . No one knows when, but i'll play it for sure, don't worry ;) .
the steam tax is abit wild on this one yeh 16€ above what i paid from a decent trustworthy vendor which rarely official but small company small 6 mill inhabitant country so only games like skyrim and such has bothered so far putting them on the good boy list
I paid 33 €, still a bit too expensive if you own the original version, imho.
yeah it was a rough estimate checked up on it was 33€ from playgames.dk was just abit to lazy to bother doing a real currency exchange never played it before so it seemed an okay price for me and the game feels pretty good value so far
however 30 minutes to fix all the things in INI files before it was decent weird stuff like horizontal mouse speed being faster then vertical motion blurs dof etc. i wonder what people less savvy in the Unreal configs do i never got through the intro before noticing all the problems especialy the odd mouse thing with 250 vert speed and 300 horz speed

The difference in water in particular is a generational difference, the water in the original looked so much better.
The original water looks more fitting. The new water might be technically superior but aesthetically doesn't match. Overall it's just fog effects that are really improved. Which is as simple as just adding a few more particles.
Did they mix up which one is the original and which is the remaster? Because ummm.....

I have seen and played both original and remastered . Original felt like more colourful and better lights and stuff while remastered clearly looked more sharper and didnt crash for once.

The water in the original, versus the remaster. Are they joking? A beautiful skyline, completely obliterated, for a couple of reflections on buildings? Someone set the contrast to lowest, threw up the brightness, eliminated all realism in the water, and added a muddy haze over everything in the distance.
Slap a $59 price tag on it, and call it a day. They should have re-released the original.

IMO they should just fix pc version without changing anything, i mean just move the multiplayer on Steam/make it DRM free, and remove all that left from GFWL, and that's it. If original looks much better, no one wants graphic "remaster" like that. Anyway i'm glad that i bought original version, because this "remaster" is a joke, and now it's impossible to get original version :D .
I definitely agree with you on that one. The game was perfectly fine its just the technical problems like you said with GFWL plagued it and the multiplayer was a pain to get working with very few people even on.
True story: after release the price for the remaster in Russian store has doubled. To ten times the amount the original cost me on Origin.

Played original - was super fun and totally underrated! was waiting since years for part 2 - now this? OK - at least you get 4k resolution :-S but not worth the money they ask for...

Thanks for the explanation. Pity about the dull, blurry, patchy textures despite the Unreal4 makeover, I know it's capable of much better. At first I thought it's UA-cam's video compression but I watch gameplay videos by other UA-camrs and the improvement in d graphics still look underwhelming, at least in some sequences. It's an all balls out action FPS irregardless.
Don't know if the videos are labelled wrongly but the original looks sharper and more high contrast than the Remaster...
no they are correct the water color gives it away which btw looks better to me in the original that dull look btw is terrible blur effects took me half an hour to fix up the ini files and get all the horrible things removed and some fixes added
seeing them side by side i think i prefer the colors of the remaster shadows somehow seems worse but other then that nothing else really stands out luckily i bought it as a game i had never noticed in which case its not to bad

I just loaded up the original and using a dll file am able to bypass live. plays like a dream. looks better than the over priced remaster IMHO.
Never played Bulletstorm, but the original looks better since it's not "de-optimized" for consoles like the remastered one. Still I went out and bought the original Bulletstorm and Bioshock 2 brand new for $4 total :) Then there are some games to play on the laptop when on the move :)
Did you turn on "Cinematic look" in game settings?
I don't see why anyone is assuming they'd port the game to unreal engine 4. There's no visual confirmation of that here anyway.
Was kinda hoping that People Can Fly would've overhauled Bulletstorm's weapon sound design for this version of the game. The sound effects on the assault rifle in particular still sounds fucking awful(the firing SFX still doesn't have any punch or meat to it and the reloading SFX *still* sounds like a bunch of clanking metal noises).
Still looks better than Alien Colonial Marines. But anyway this was made for Consoles, not meant to be on pc's is just addition

I played this game like when I was 12 or 14 ithink. Now I'm 18 then I remember about this game but icant remember the name. I was like searching in Google like, alien type game like call of duty, controlling sniper bullet, guns ability. XD that's the only thing I can remember about this game, I dint remember that you can pull enemy with it. Back I'm the day I like to pull the enemy then kicking them and they add the details that the enemy can friendly fire there ally.

Sur PC le remaster à peut être pas vraiment d'intérêt mais pour les consoles par contre c'est de suite mieux quand on compare le jeu comme il était sur 360/PS3 par rapport à la version One/PS4, la c'est indéniable qu'on y gagne beaucoup. Bonne vidéo sinon.

So.. they brightened some areas that were dark and darkened some areas that were light.. and they charge 50 bucks for this? If they are basing making a BulletStorm 2 on these sales.. I don't think it's ever gonna happen. On the Steam page tons of folks are complaining about the price.

Got the full clip edition with Duke Nukem pack for 13 euro on sale. It is not worth the full price. But 15 euro is a bargain for fun.
I was just looking at duke nukem 3d comparisions. I have the original of this game but damn I didn't know they just barely made a remastered of this game. It sucks ass that they removed the original of this game along with Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition. Luckily I was able to get both before Gearbox took them off the steam store.

Probably because they saw the other comparisons, between PS3 and PS4, and then it is an improvement, so they think this video isn't fair or something like that... PC version of this "remaster" actually looks worse than original as we see on this video.
Thanks, guys, maybe you're right. It's a bit sad that they punish me although I put much effort into the video. Maybe Raileleven is right or maybe they dislike the remaster itself and quickly express it with a thumbs down without considering that I'm not the developer of the game.
Think about this that way: you still have better like/disslike ratio than new Call of duty trailers :D . Just kidding, your video is great, fair comparison, everyone can judge for himself. I'm sure many people appreciate your effort(including me), they just don't care about giving the likes ;) . You probably saved many players that wanted to buy this BS "remaster". I am downloading the remasterd on the ps5 rn. Never got around playing this back in the ps3 days sadly. Id say that some parts look better on the original and some on the remasterd

Who cares if its worse graphics, graphics are just there to convey the gameplay, and to be it actually looks like visually "easier" on the eyes than the heavy blue-filter on the original.

Timestamps are better than vague statements. Where? What are these glitchy effects? What black spots? You mean dark areas? Are you talking about distant shaodws or Z-fighting? :D
It's hard to notice but you might have to pause the video several times. At 4:14 you can see the shadows next to Grayson's arm. That's what im talking about.

Bulletstorm: Downgrade Edition
FULL CLIP remaster stutters.
i7-3770K@4.4GHz + GTX1080... experimented and can't figure out why it stutters and I'm pretty good with this sort of thing frankly. Not my PC. I doubt it's a CPU issue since original ran butter smooth on same system... I think certain graphics are too demanding at times but just a guess or possibly it's a LOADING of textures issue (which SSD may help)... got on sale but I REGRET it... does look better than the video would suggest but after going back and forth I just went back to the ORIGINAL game for game smoothness.
I am glad a remaster was released so now I won't have to use the shitty EA launcher everytime I want to play it.

la version remaster devrait etre gratuite pour ceux qui ont l'original, sur le papier: les mesh sont à peine plus détaillés (la végétation.. c'est tout), les textures sont un poil plus léché(1024->2048) avec moins d'effet de normalmap dégueux voir (2:51 le sol) les effets de lumières sont moins gênants pour le gameplay, le lighmapping (LIGHTMASS) est un peu plus précis avec un meilleur rendu sur le lightbounce ainsi que les ombres projetées (512->1024) , certains shaders sont passés du model pixel shader 3.0(dx9) au 4.0 (dx10) mais encore une fois.... ce n'est pas en augmentant les spec qu'on obtient une appelation "remaster" justifiant des ventes à 40€. ils ont pas du être beaucoup à travaillé sur ce remaster. on dirait qu'ils ont juste changé le fichier Config en doublant les specs. mouai... decu!

Modern video game developers make it their sole mission to make games look as shitty and as blurry as possible. They need to realize their true vision of you feeling like you're looking at the world without your glasses on.

I wouldn't call it offensively worse like GTA Defective Editions. Just a different look most of the time (absolute BS the original is not on Steam though).

More dust, a brown filter, a bad blur layer, some elements actually removed or reduced in quality; all of which end up actually reducing the quality of the visuals.
So essentially what minor improvements were made is overshadowed by the fact that the art direction and aesthetics has been completely destroyed. This isn't a remaster, Gearbox; it's a desecration.
Just stumped up $50 aud for the PS4 remaster. Agree Original looks so much better. Now I'm upset
