I was 261 pounds on December 12th 2017 I am now happy to say today October 21 2018 im 198. I am turning 20 on November 27th and im 5' 11". I just wanted to share and hopefully inspire someone and let them know you can't rely on anyone or anything to lose the weight... you can only rely on yourself good luck and I hope I encouraged someone. I'm on an eating disorder programme that takes nothing but BMI into account and wants me at 20.5 even though I'm a 16 year old girl 5"5 and a TINY build, my wrists are tiny, like I literally can't get watches or bracelets that fit them no matter what size! When I wrap my hand around my wrist my tumb overlaps like way past my nuckle! I've so far gained 25Ibs and I'm back to my original weight of 49.5kg and look and feel perfectly healthy, I even have a few rolls on my stomach.. I'm a size 8-10.. Help?? They won't listen to me abs want me to maintain the target weight or I'll be sent back in inpatient to gain it all back.. I know that the weight is wrong and even though I'm getting a DEXA they refuse to give me my body fat percentage results or discuss the target weight and my weight history.. Nobody will listen to me I'm so upset.

I'm on the keto diet. It basically is a high-fat, low carbohydrate diet. I've been on many low-calorie diets and have lost weight but I was always starving. I've never experienced anything like this diet. I never feel hungry and I feel like I am eating a lot. I am eating things that I would always avoid because they were too fattening. Plus, I feel better than I have in a long time, I have a lot of energy and my mind is clearer and I am in a better mood. I'm two days into my third week. I've lost 7 pounds. In the past I would spend most of my day thinking about food. No more. This way of eating is a whole new thing to me and I love it.
As a 5'5 person, with my build (medium i guess from the wrist test), i would not dream of being as small as (avg of the last measure) 130 lbs. Although I do have some reservation with the BMI, 160 lbs seems more healthy. Are there any sites where there are visuals of certain body frames at certain weights?
Hi Rissa, As a general rule, African American women fall at the top of the recommended range due to higher bone density and more muscle mass - that would put your ideal weight closer to ~137lb. Unfortunately, I don't have the sort of visual you are looking for.

As for myself I've found that age isn't really that relevant or important for determining where I should be. I simply started thinking again about my weight in high school in the early 80s, and thought, that's close to where I wanted to be ideally. I was at 185 a year ago, at 59 y.o. and with upped cycling mostly combined with only slight alterations with meals, I started losing pounds all the way to well past that 165 I was in 1982. I stopped any restrictions on food at 160. There are also multiple formulas for determining that "Ideal Weight" based on height, age, and sex. Anywhere between the high one and the low one is really alright, and all are well below the high edge of BMI normal. But what's interesting is that even with the age input factor, the formulas entirely straddle what my high school weight was, so just being older or middle aged doesn't mean that your proper weight at your grown teenaged age isn't still your proper weight now!

Löve Väeh • I think you are just a little overweight. This does not mean you are fat though! Just a little heavier than most of your age. I’d recommend eating more healthier and regular exercise, drink lots more water and you should be good.

Well as a 16 year old male, I'm 5'8" and 188 lbs. According to almost everything I'm "overweight" while any look at me would show I'm nowhere near overweight. Also I'm technically a "small to med. frame". As an athlete I obviously have more muscle but I'm not ripped, just a lot of leg muscle primarily (I'm a pitcher and catcher so its always getting work). I would go by how you feel. I thought I was too thin. Someone said maybe I wasn't supposed to be heavier. I should have listened. Of course I'm a bit older now and "really" wish I would have been happy with a little underweight. Now I'm uncomfortable and I feel "fat". It's easier to gain than lose weight. i am pretty active and walk and run about 7 miles a day but i don't think that form of exercise would really build muscle

I would go by how you feel. I thought I was too thin. Someone said maybe I wasn't supposed to be heavier. I should have listened. Of course I'm a bit older now and "really" wish I would have been happy with a little underweight. Now I'm uncomfortable and I feel "fat". It's easier to gain than lose weight. I never felt bad being thin and wish I were now.
I'm not sure if I'm overweight. I'm 15 and im 5 foot 7 around 199 lb. But I'm on my varsity swim team and I'm an offensive lineman for my HS varsity team. I for have a belly but I'm not all muscle either. Am I considered obese?

My fingers overlap, but I have quite long skinny hands. I have noticed compared to others my bones are larger. No fat on wrists or ankles but they are twice the size of most people's. My husbands hands are only a slight bit longer than mine and he is about 5 inches taller than me, but I weigh a little more than him. 18 5'8 160lbs (according to him small build) from what I know large or medium build but with narrow fingers. BMI is 24.5 almost overweight.

@Kieran Humphrey I purposely have a calorie deficit so I keep cut and lean I also do alot of cardio and core workout my aim.is to get as shredded as possible I'm even considering a course of fat burner steroids to get more definition my body I do what I like bro dont be hatin

How accurate is the wrist test I want to know my body frame most tests say im 50% mesomorph and 50% endomorph A month ago i used to weigh 239lbs at 5'8" now I'm 218lbs before my fingers couldnt touch now they do with ease. Throughout my childhood I have been considered obese right now my bmi is 33.1 Im losing roughly 20 pounds a month I jog 8 miles in two sessions daily and 45 minutes of workouts almost every day from Mon. to Sun. I take saturday off usually. I diet well no fast food, fried foods, nor red or white meats only poultry unskinned and only cooked through steam, I vary it with salmon or tuna, High fiber meals and 3 servings of veggies daily, 3 liters of water daily. and no more dinners my last meal is at 7 and its usually 3 tablespoons of non fat yogurt with a quarter of a cup of jello non sugared.
