@@nickjohnsonatw It’s not all about weight loss for me. My routine actually focuses more on building muscle. So my weight isn’t really a good metric of my progress because as I’m losing fat I’m gaining weight in muscles. A better measure is how I could barely do 35lbs bent rows and now up to crush 65lbs. Also there’s the fact that I actually kinda like the way a look now. If you’re trying to lose weight I’d recommend high-calorie-burning workouts and a diet that puts you at a calorie deficit. Best of luck to you! You got this!
Everyone is different. His videos give you a base at how to go about losing the love handles. The gist is that you have to watch what you eat and lift weights. I had a tire as a stomach for the last 10 years up until Christmas of 2019. Six months later, I lost 18 pounds and my upper body sticks out more than my stomach. Increase protein, lower your carb intake, and work out at least 3 days a week and your body starts burning fat on its own. I’m 51 and it’s never too late to start.
Thanks for your input! I just turned 50 and my tire is bigger than ever! I’m almost ready to give up. Your reply has sparked a fire in me and I will get back in gear dispute the shut down on gyms. Walking and planks will be my friends.
Exercises are fine but of you really want to lose belly fat (and fat from other body parts) you will need some diet too. IMO it is more important than exercises alone, unless you want rock solid abs covered with a layer of fat :D. I am currently in my third week of following a diet plan I got from Nextlevel diet. So far I lost decent amount of fat and my love handles are gone. It also comes with a workout plan as a bonus!!
I live in NYC and I watched this video 11 months ago because I was having trouble with my love handles and bloating. I followed some of the diet and exercise methods and my weight went from 227 to 213 at 6'2. It also helped that I took up roller skating sessions with friends weekly for cardio along with strength training I was also doing for years. Thanks🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Starting in late September last year I followed the advice you give on this channel for about 5 weeks and lost 7 kg in that time. After that 5 weeks i hurt my knee and my doctor had me take a break. The weight loss was mindblowing for me because I allways struggeled with my weight and the absolute best I could do was 1kg a month. Sadly I put half of that weight back on from stress eating in lockdown but I'm back at it again. If I was able to have such results I'm going to have them again. And me being able to have them means that really anyone who is willing to put in the work can have them! Your videos are really helpfull, thank you!
@@BroadestHydra30 Thank you for asking, that's so kind of you! Up to this time last year I've been doing great. The holidays are usually not a big problem for me. I started the new year quite strong. I work in a nursing home and therefore was fortunate to be able to have the first covid vaccine on January 12th, the 2nd dose on February 2nd. I'm very gratefull for that, but being told to not work out for a bit of time after each time caused me to lose my momentum. I snacked a bit too much and we were in complete lockdown again from February 7th on. Only allowed to leave the house to go to work, buy basic items of everyday need and go for walks. So I did that 3-4 times a week and had some progress with that over the course of a few weeks. Spring rolls around and I hurt my shoulder (yes I'm very talented). My doctor put me on some medicine that required me to eat before I take it. I had to eat at times when I wasn't hungy and that messed me up a lot. I also wasn't allowed to be in the sun because of the medications he gave me. There goes the momentum again. This had been going on for a month or so. After recovery I tried again with some zumba/yoga at home and as soon as it was possible to meet with friends I did the occasional hike. By the end of May gyms opened up again and I went there twice a week at 6am. Still eating too much so not much weight was lost. In the summer I have been hiking a bit, a bit of swimming there, not much because restrictions and controlls here had been lifted and I didn't feel save. I also did some running. Had to take a lot of time to study for an important exam (I did well!). Since late september I'm back at the gym, twice a week with the full programm. My weight is going down. Slowly but surely. Not as quickly as I'd like it to go, but at least it's going. These weeks I don't really have time to work out, so I try to get some steps in whenever I have a little bit of time for that. The darkness and cold in the winter is hard on me, I've been snacking a lot again. 3 weeks ago I had my booster shot that knocked me out for 5 days straight. Turns out getting the flu shot at the same time wasn't my brightest idea. So yeah, a lot of ups and downs. But giving up is never an option! I hope you are doing well!

Same here, turned 50 this year and every year is getting worse! The deteriorating rate of metabolism is the culprit. This advice would work better for younger ages, yet this is making low to hard to notice a difference as years go by. Nature has its own fundamental rules and it's hard to trespass them at the current level of human knowledge.
Yes, I added one HIIT session per week and I can vouch for the acceleration of fat loss, core strength gain and cardio endurance. I agree - more than once per week would yield diminishing returns. Early on, I was requiring most of the following week to recover from the muscle workout, especially in the calves from mountain climbers, which are both very effective and particularly brutal.
I think another tip should be, give it time. I've been at this for a bit and the torso is tough to shred. If you find yourself discouraged, don't give up! Most of us spent a bit of time getting out of shape; it can take just as long or longer to get back in shape.
I am right at 1 year since I've quit drinking. Since then I've made a lot of changes to my diet and exercise and have lost 35 pounds. I am in a plateau now which means i just need to make a couple changes to my work out routine. If I dont meet a goal when I want to I just keep moving. Itll happen as long as I keep making good choices. Never let your guard down.
this is true for men. When men lose weight, they first start to slim from the extremities inward to the core. So pay attention to the areas like the neck, shoulders and face. if those are slimming, you're making progress. the last thing to go is always the love handles.

For those just starting out, here is what really helped me. Eat healthy, cut out, minimise sugars and carbs, 1.5 meals a day within 4-5 hours intermittent fasting. Eg, small breakfast, good sized lunch, zero food till next morning. Exercise a minimum 45 minutes every day, ( briskwalking is perfect), while you're in your fasting period, I go riding and walking with a friend from 7pm, 5 days a week, 2 days recovery. This helps when skipping dinner. Don't go to sleep on a full stomach. You will shed that fat quickly. Add in some light weight training as you become fitter. This worked very well for myself. Saw the best results in a very short amount of time. (10lbs loss after 1 week, after losing 10lbs in 3 months just cutting carbs, sugars and 45 minutes walking. Vary your exercise regime often. Ride a bike, go swimming etc. Stay COMMITTED! I wanted to also add, that in your 2 days of rest, eat normal, 3 meals a day. I do have carbs every morning though, as this helps to fuel my brain for the rest of the day at work. (My half meal, "break fast"). This has worked for me, so I also hope it will help others in their weight loss journey.
I don't listen to this channel often but I like this guy and he seems to get to the point. I cant stand a 45 min video and all your information is in the last 4 minutes
Thanks for the info! Some constructive criticism though, try to slow down when you're listing off things. At 6:14 you're firing off exercises really fast. You can do what you want, but when you slow down a bit, like you did at 7:30, it makes it easier for people to comprehend the information you're giving them.
Gotta say something to the fasting aspect. I started 16/8 intermittent fasting this year. I work in a factory in 3 week cycles, 6 days a week, and 1 week off afterwards, it's quite a physical job. It's also shift-work, so I basically work early 6-14, late 14-22 and night 22-6 o'clock... When you mentioned in your video, that it would be difficult to set up I had to think about the way I manage it. Basically I start my eating period 2 hours, after I started working. I really put some thought into that, because I thought that I really do need energy at work but I also want to be able to go to the gym afterwards and still have enough time left to eat something after a workout (which is mainly cardio at the moment)... So when I hit the gym it's usually half an hour left for me to eat, when I arrive home... And usually on the weekends I eat "regularly" if I want to or anything comes up... I would start my eating period regularly at work on saturday but just not being this strict with its ending... It works great for me... With that, hitting the gym this year (even though I had this 2 month break) and now basically also restricting my calories and reducing sugar-intake more and more I just lost 15 KG this year so far, from over 122 kg to 108.8 today... And I even manage to keep it up in my week off. So before I would work 3 weeks and usually loose something like 2-4 KG (because as I mentioned, there's a lot of running around involved, it's just a physical job) and in my week off I would basically gain everything I lost plus some extra... Now my weight keeps at least stable in my weeks off, even though I'm pretty sure it will start dropping there as well because of the lesser, more health-conscious caloric intake. So, what I'm trying to say is: it's not as difficult to set it up, no matter the circumstances you're in... It takes a while to get used to it, but I was pleasantly surprised, that it didn't really take that much to start intermittent fasting... My hunger never reached starving levels and my cravings where never overwhelming in my oppinion... There have been times in the beginning where they both were intense, of course, but I don't remember like loosing it completely if that makes any sense...
Really Good Video.. I;m doing KETO and have incorporated most of these into my life style change. It works. Down from 224 lbs in July 2020 to 180 lbs. Look and feel much better. Just turned 57 and still doing what I can in the gym. Keep Pumping!
All of these are great tips, but I found a way to make it work faster by doing fasted cardio; first thing in the morning do some cardio. My favorite is a 1 mile jog. Doesn’t take me no more than 10 minutes. One more addition to make the love handles go away faster is doing kicks. Example: front kicks, side kicks, back kicks, and round house kicks. Tae kwon do kick tutorial will show you how it’s done. Add these to everything in this vid and your love handles will melt away faster than you think.

I have a hard time watching most videos of this nature because of the creator's personality. But you do not add an ego to yours. Only good quality info. I appreciate your ability to properly explain these facts without being too cocky to follow.
I have some advise to give if you have difficulties changing your eating habits from high sugar intake to a healthier diet. Start with eating vegetables with meat or fish in the beginning of the day. If you need carbs eat the healthy one. Then reward your self later in the day with the sweets you cant quit with yet. Tell your self not to eat sweets before a certain time of the day. Eat healthy until 17.00 every day. Than slowly eat less and less sweets as time goes by. I was extremely sugar addicted and this helped me a lot because I knew I was getting my reward later in the day. After a while the sugar craving disappeared. Of course you can set another time to start eating sweets and change it s time goes by. The point is that you have to get used to eating healthy food.
Yeah, because spot training is a myth. Love handles are usually the first spot where fat is stored, so it's going to be the last to burn. To loose love handles you simply need to loose most of the fat. Period.

I was trying for years to lose fat and love handles. It was really hard. Intermittent fasting was one of the hardest things I tried to do in my life. You need so much mental strength to go through day while fasting. I'm currently experimenting with diet from site Next Level Diet, and it's working perfectly for me.
I am 26 and was at 240lb. To start I did a 10 day water only fast. (Had pills to supplement nutrition, as well as pills to open up my adrenal gland, adrenal helps reduce stress which in turn promotes weight loss) The first day or two I definately felt weird, but on or after the third day I felt great. Better than I had in a long time. Started eating again slowly, however I now have no issue going 1-3 days without eating. I don't even notice it. That being said I have also focused on eating better, and my portion sizes have greatly dropped. I have also completely stopped drinking, other than maybe a beer with a friend here and there. I am now down to 210lb, and once I hit the 200 mark I will be beginning to work out on the days that I don't work. I am only 2-3 months in. But the upsides are tremendous. I don't know if it's the diet, the fasting, the adrenal pills, or all of the above. But I feel better mentally, I'm happier than I have been in years, and look better than I have in years. (I've always been a chunky kid)
But how do you pack on muscle starving yourself ? Protein powders milkshakes ? I don’t see u getting huge not eating make dropping weight but not packing on muscles . I don’t want to lose my mass but have a little weight around my stomach area love handles but I do try to consume close to 200 grams or protein a day which is hard itself
@@BigALdeek Right off the hop, I had no intention of getting huge. My primary concern was weight loss for health reasons. I also was quitting smoking during this time so I had to be careful to watch for signs of any issues. So adding muscle mass was not a concern, I had always been strong to begin with anyways and my day to day life allowed me to keep the muscle mass I already had. Lots of heavy lifting and turning wrenches. And no I did not use any powders or shakes. My opinion but i don't personally trust powders. Biggest issue was how MUCH I was eating, because my body felt a need for bigger amounts, but didn't actually NEED those amounts. Once I got back to normal eating, protein was simple, peanut butter or other like alternatives and eating more meat. Cut out buns and unnessesary carbs. Focus workouts on the areas you want to improve. I don't even get 150g a day, as its not my main objective. At the end of the day you can do anything, you can mold your body in any way you see fit. The issue is too many people get bored or don't see enough progress in their fake timeframe they make up in their heads and so they give up. Don't do that. Work though those "its not working" or "I'm getting nowhere" thoughts. And if something really isn't working for you, then change it, don't think your stuck with this one exercise or one drink or whatever it might be. A persons biggest inhibition, is themselves.
@@brummer22100 thanks for taking the time to reply to my message. I’ll definitely implement what you told me here into my routines. I was just confused I know everyone says eat more gain more but I don’t want a puffy stomach either haha. Thanks again!
- High Intensity Training (e.g. Running) derives energy from the digestive system. - Slow Paced Extended Training (e.g. Walking for longer duration) derives energy from stored body fat. Moral: Increase the daily step count (about 10k steps daily) One can start walking early in the morning after a banana (just in case the blood sugar level dips) and log-in at least 6-7k steps. Rest of the 3-4k steps can be done throughout the day or may be in an evening walking session. Warm up hips, hip flexors, core, calves and most importantly Tibialis muscle (watch some warm up tutorial video) for better form in order to avoid injuries. If possible, include a 15-20 min weight/resistance training session, preferably in the evening (as blood glucose is at its peak at that time). Initially, Bodyweight exercises can work such push-ups, squats, pull ups etc. Use a Rest day after three days of training to give the body some rest for repair work. Key: Even if one is able to just log-in 25% of the target goal, one must stay consistent and not break the routine Stay Consistent!!! No matter what!!! After about 2-3 weeks, the body will start showing signs of progress. Diet: Minimize Sugar intake, Maximize Protein in each meal, balance it out with greens and carbs For motivation: Join some online challenge at any app like Strava, Virgin Pulse, etc. Use a fitness tracker and pair it with Google Fit, Fitbit, etc.

HIKING!
Your videos are really helpfull, thank you!
how are you now?

1. Be in calorie deficit (eat high protein)
2. Train Hard, Often, and Heavy
3. Get Proper Sleep

Early on, I was requiring most of the following week to recover from the muscle workout, especially in the calves from mountain climbers, which are both very effective and particularly brutal.

this is true for men. When men lose weight, they first start to slim from the extremities inward to the core. So pay attention to the areas like the neck, shoulders and face. if those are slimming, you're making progress. the last thing to go is always the love handles.

After seeing this video, I realize that you really know what you’re talking about. This is my new favorite channel.
Wow, I used to be very fit but put on the love handles at 19, imma follow this and see how much I can lose

This is literally the best fitness video on UA-cam. Concise, and to the point. Well explained and no fluff!
Thanks for the info! Some constructive criticism though, try to slow down when you're listing off things. At 6:14 you're firing off exercises really fast. You can do what you want, but when you slow down a bit, like you did at 7:30, it makes it easier for people to comprehend the information you're giving them.
Pretty good round-up of commonly known things 👍
Good to hear bro

All of these are great tips, but I found a way to make it work faster by doing fasted cardio; first thing in the morning do some cardio. My favorite is a 1 mile jog. Doesn’t take me no more than 10 minutes. One more addition to make the love handles go away faster is doing kicks. Example: front kicks, side kicks, back kicks, and round house kicks.
When he said get more sleep I felt attacked
That's my number 1 problem. The day is just too short.
I like that you give examples of foods to eat and not just general food categories.

(Had pills to supplement nutrition, as well as pills to open up my adrenal gland, adrenal helps reduce stress which in turn promotes weight loss)
The first day or two I definately felt weird, but on or after the third day I felt great.

🤣
- High Intensity Training (e.g. Running) derives energy from the digestive system.
- Slow Paced Extended Training (e.g. Walking for longer duration) derives energy from stored body fat.
Moral: Increase the daily step count (about 10k steps daily)
One can start walking early in the morning after a banana (just in case the blood sugar level dips) and log-in at least 6-7k steps.
Key: Even if one is able to just log-in 25% of the target goal, one must stay consistent and not break the routine
Stay Consistent!!! No matter what!!!
After about 2-3 weeks, the body will start showing signs of progress.
Diet: Minimize Sugar intake, Maximize Protein in each meal, balance it out with greens and carbs
For motivation: Join some online challenge at any app like Strava, Virgin Pulse, etc. Use a fitness tracker and pair it with Google Fit, Fitbit, etc.

Fasting, start before the sun rises and end immediately after the sun goes down. It is easie way of fasting.
People in northern Alaska reading your comment:
We're not eating for a month 😟😦😟
For Alaskans it may be unreasonable, am afraid in places like that, sanity should prevail as specific timings would help. Not everyone from Alaska is Sarah Palin.
Thats not healthy at all!!!
@@mindscape566 Fasting is nowhere near healthy
Love the posts and explanation in your videos absolutely brilliant, helpful, knowledgeable and motivational.
I got back into the fitness industry, after several years, gained lots of weights, since getting back into the fitness industry I manged to lose a stone in 6 months, I'm in my mid 40s even though I'm loosing weight I'm struggling to lose the mid section, belly and love handles which is frustrating, one of my issues also is sleep I get 2 to 4 hours at best a night of sleep, mainly cause of the kids and working the late shifts at the gym. So when I get in I eat late but try to keep to a calorie count perday. 5 hours of sleep is my personal best if I'm lucky enough to get it, this has been going on for 4 years now, I've noticed over the years not only lack of sleep but gaining so much weight.
But getting back into the gym, and Running Hiit classes it has helped with the weight loss and with general fitness.
But anyone reading this, and watching this video, take note what's being mentioned here and the advice given, and if your like me and in your 40s and over, be patient you'll get there even if the results are slow. Keep pushing 💪🏼
Peace all 👊🏼
