This was written when Freddie was looking over Lake Geneva not long before his death. In a way it's like the last words of a dying man finally understanding how beautiful life is
This is what I think as well. He always saw the beauty in things - even when he didn't have much time left; he fills my heart & soul - always.
Life is never sweeter than when it is short....
Glad he had peace, beauty and the brotherhood of the band to the end.

By the Grace of God Freddie retained those vocal chords right up until the end. I feel not being able to sing would have been worse than dying for him. What a gift to us all he was and continues to be. The first time hearing Freddie sing, whether it was the ‘70’s like this old bird, or 2022, the feeling is always just the same. Incomparable.

@@yanslee7220 He could no longer do the last few songs in one take. Brian May explains in a documentary that Freddie would do 3 takes of each line . He would tire after a while. He had to do these songs over a few days. What is truly astonishing is that AIDS caused pneumonia with severe breathing problems. How he sang like this is a goddamn miracle.

You are not alone in the obsession department. Freddy enriches our souls and we need his "touch"daily.
This is Freddie's final good bye but i think it's not to his fans; it's to his family, his band mates, Jim, Mary, and all of his closest loved ones. I imagine Freddie sitting at his home in Montreux, the glow of the fireplace next to him, wrapped in Jim's arms, looking at the beautiful imagery outside the window and reflecting on the last (oh so short) 45 years just like those pictures passing by in this video. This song, composed during his time in Montreux, was perhaps his way of telling his loved ones that he was surrounded by so much beauty, he'd lived an extraordinary life and was at peace. What a glorious life he did live - almost like a dream.

I remember when Made in Heaven was released, I had been waiting since Innuendo for the last material to be out in some format. Some stunning writing especially Freddie’s cover of too much love by Brian. Knowing the end was near Freddie was keen to sing all he could in mountain studios, I’m sure Winters tale was one of his last vocals. I Visited there on my honey moon. wonderful place.
I notice Freddie became very reflective in his songs toward the end. I feel some of his best lyrics were written then. These songs are very underrated, and yet they are so very beautiful and heartfelt.
I was a professional musician for 24 years, obviously in a different level...There are distinct levels or categories of musicianship! You get musicians, good musicians, excellent musicians and then you step to a level where only a few have entered...that is the level where FM is placed...GENIUS!!! This wonderful and incomparable man was a God's given gift to humanity...I doubt we will witness talent and greatness alike for a very long time...if we ever do...Miss you FM, the one and only!!!

Freddie was a GENIUS and it is so tragic what happened to him but thankfully we have so much of him 0n film,video, you tube etc, I too cannot get enough of that wonderful voice and charismatic personality. I have never heard this song before. I think it is a testament to the beauty of this man's soul that instead of allowing himself to become bitter or encapsulated in self-pity he saw the grandeur of what was right there in front of him. Then he wrote about it and shared it with the rest of us.

Even though he was very near the end, he only saw the beauty in everything around him. What a lesson for us all! Brian once said that some people are cup half empty people and some people are cup half full people, but Freddie was a cup completely full person. Beautiful.

If the cup is half full you see how much there is in life. What ever the case, it's nice to think of Freddie Mercury as a positive, optimistic person "through-and-through", but we also know (very well) that he could also get very anxious and frightened of the world we are living in, at times, just like any other sensible, sensitive human being. Which most artistic souls are. What ever other circumstances / aspects of their lives...

Freddie made a song about appreciating the surroundings even when he was seriously ill. He was super positive and always lived life to the fullest every single day, even with aids he knew the time had come so he appreciated life and kept on doing the thing he loved, music. He is a reminder to never take anything for granted and live life to the fullest
My dear Freddie, I've been in Montreux last month for 4 days just to try to feel the same atmosphere you felt in those days when you stayed there.
I must say that it was very moving to see the lake, the mountains, the seagulls and the swans in the same way you described them in this wonderful poem song, so poignant. It was a great thrill. Why did you leave, Freddie? it's not right. Love you now and forever.

Ольга, ви очень точно прокоментировали в стихах боль и потерю. Безусловно, я например иногда себя ловлю на мисли, когда слушаю его, а слушаю я все время что би не делала, что рвет душу и мне невиносимо больно за его болезнь и его такую бессмисленную смерть.

El canto del sisne de freddie, por eso aparecen en el video, una cancion increible y un recuerdo eterno a su legado, la escribio a orillas del lago de montroux , por eso pusieron su estatua alli.

This is truly a wonderful song and one very underrated. I wish they played it on the radio. Just listen to Brian assolo. Also, he is really talking about his beloved place, Montreaux and how he appreciated. Hard to believe that he was so sick while recording this song. We will never fully understand the emotions and feelings of a dying person because we have not experienced that yet. We can just imagine but we can t really know, how sad it must have been for an artist like he was, knowing he was slowly slipping away from all what he loved, his music, his fans, his friends and all the beautiful things he had surrounded himself with. RIP, Freddie,you really deserve all the peace and the joy that you gave to millions in your very short life.

I am here right now looking at the lake and mountains, funnily enough there are swans floating by as well, this place is Made in heaven, I can see why Freddie lived here.
Before I die I will go to Montreux, i'm sure
