Thanks Jason. He’s an awesome bull. He’s especially great for the country we were hunting. Tyler’s bull is 310 on the money. He’s thrilled with the bull and so am I. Thanks again and take care.
That’s cool. You’re one of the lucky few that got one huh? The rifle in this video is also a Browning X Bolt. It’s not the LR though. It’s a “speed” and is custom dipped in Under Armour Ridge Reaper camo. Tyler has the Zeiss scope on his setup as well. Great shooting gun. Best of luck man.
I can only speak to what I know… the 6.8 Western has performed as advertised (in my experience). The rifle used in the video has killed a large mature bull elk and a large mature mule deer buck - with one shot each. It’s a flat shooting, high energy round that puts big game down with ease, all with very little felt recoil. It’s worth it.
Man what a amazing moment captured on video 🇺🇸 I felt this one, that moment when the relief of filling your tag, lifts off your shoulders! and that rush of emotion hits you hard.. It doesn’t happen every time but when it does you remember it. That is a dandy Bull I loved his fronts and his 3rds lots of length. Love your content my friend 🇺🇸 Best regards from north Eastern Oregon ✌🏼😎
Wow. Thank you for the well thought out and put together comment. I really do appreciate it. It’s not always easy filming a hunt. This one happened to have all come together about as perfectly as we could have ever drawn it up. Best of luck and take care!
Thanks for the positive feedback. It means a lot. Tyler’s bull is absolutely wonderful. He’s thrilled with his first bull and that is all that matters. Take care.
Thanks man. It has become an excellent memory for sure. The hunt was so much fun. Tyler was obviously thrilled with his bull. A fine bull to take for a first. I wish you the best there and other states as well. Take care bro.
Bryce, great hunt, really appreciate the hard work you put in on the video!!! I just drew northern NM late rifle. I live in Idaho, and could possibly consider some trade for tactics for NM
Hey Mark. Thanks for the kind words. I’d be happy to help however I can. Although, I’m not sure I have much info that would be super useful. But, let’s talk. Brycecastagnetto@gmail.com
Thanks man. We were hunting on Unit 36. Tyler bought a landowner tag/permit which was good for the entire unit, but we only hunted on the private property that was leased by the outfitter service. It was not at all what we had expected or even what we have been led to believe. The hunt was very much built up to have been much bigger and better than it actually was. Tyler killed the biggest bull that they as an outfitter had killed that year. They claimed that he would have multiple opportunities at big bulls. When he asked how big, they told him 320-330 bulls were the norm with some bulls being as big as 360-370. None of that was accurate. All of the elk we saw on the hunt, WE actually spotted them. Not the “guide”. We broke the bull down, quartered him out, took the cape off and packed him out. He didn’t make a single cut on the animal. To be fair, we don’t mind doing that and this is only the second ever hunt that I’ve been along for that was guided. So that wasn’t as big of a deal for me as it could be for others. We later found out that they are able to claim 100% success rates because they had their clients kill cows if they couldn’t find them a bull. Needless to say, Tyler will never return and use their business again and I would not recommend them to anyone. My advice would be to do your homework. Speak to previous clients who have actually hunted with the outfitter. Get real stories and actual pictures from those hunters. Don’t just trust one side. I hope this info helps. Best of luck.
@@Ryan40272 Yeah. It can be. Thankfully, Tyler was able to stock up about 1.5 years ago when the 6.8 was relatively new. You couldn’t find the rifle anywhere but the ammo was one of the only one on the shelves. I made sure to tell him to buy several hundred rounds. So he’s set for a while, then we’ll reload.
This hunt was on unit 36. But Tyler purchased a landowner’s permit and hunter on private property that was managed by an outfitter. For the record, we were not super thrilled with the experience. We found all of the elk, the outfitter pulled the bait and switch on us the morning of the hunt and sent us out with a “guide” that was 19 years old. Nothing against the kid, but he had no idea what he was doing. We spotted all of the elk that day, killed the bull, broke him down, packed him out - which is what we wanted to do anyway. I share this just so people can see that private land hunting and guides/outfitters are NOT always what we think or expect them to be.
Dream hunt for sure. Talk about a long shot. Great bull. Beautiful symmetry with those brow tines.

Another great hunt, Bryce. Thanks for taking us along. Congrats to Tyler.
Thank you John. Tyler is pumped with his bull. It was another outstanding adventure. Take care.
Nice hunt. Getting it done with the 6.8
Thanks man. It was a great hunt.
The 6.8 western is a killer!!!
It absolutely is. For both deer and elk, it’s a fantastic hunting rifle.
I have it in a Browning X Bolt Western Hunter LR. Zeiss 4-16x44 scope. Awesome setup.

Congrats guys, just a little curious on what unit has a rifle tag that late in New Mexico. Late season rifle hunting is my jam.
