This is a late comment, hello, But, Aye, everyone that's here acting like they know shit about acid. No one gives a fuck what acid does, this is a joke, obviously you're taking it to the next level for having the gut to show how proud you are that you've done drugs. Anyway, for the people that ignored the comments and just skipped trough since you saw a pretty cool video with epic animation, Good job my friends! ;D

@George Henry It feels like your body is constraint, you feel down so you lay down. Color picks more intense or brighter, you start to see the wall starting to wave, you close your eyes you see colors of green, purple, orange or yellow starting to appear you open your eyes again and you see objects with meaning like they have a purpose. Now you close your eyes again and you see patterns forming, spiral or some shit and you go ahead and play some music and you found out that the music is too intense so you find a song that is slow and no sudden high pitches. So you lay down again and get carried away with your thoughts, seeing patterns, colors, visual tracings and seeing objects with meaning. Then you check your time, shit its been 6 minutes?

All it takes is less than a second for the mind to recognize pop culture icons, and familiar imagery. This artist breaks down those images into their most basic features, and displays each in an incredibly short loop. Just enough time for your eyes to recognize what you've seen.
One of the most fantastic animations I've seen in a while! truly incredible, I hope the absolute best for the future of this artist.

I see this as how some pieces of art help an artist to form another. Like, admiration leads one to inspiration. But sometimes that inspiration leaves so much ink in another',s creation that we come to see more equals than diferents. That's when we start to look to deep into somethings...trying to see relations where there is none, just to call It theft.
But in the end, every art is the same, and one of a kind,at the same time.
    Love and theft.
Love something. Let it inspire you to create something your own. See people call It theft.

I believe this video is trying to portray that all idea, whether it be the most blissful, carnal, and concrete thoughts come from the same place as the distraught, Savage, menacing thoughts. They're two sides of the same coin, one subject with two extremes, and that subject is expressed in all of us in different ways; yet it is all the same thing.
Life is Sex, by the way, if you haven't noticed yet. That's why there's so much imagery of it.

I think this symbolises how simple our interpretation of the world was before media, then after the creation of media, and more more and more information being crammed in both intentionally and subliminally, our subconscious minds mirror these affects and it changes our general understanding of the world. this is mirrored in the animation style, how you feel you just saw something you recognised, yet it's wisked away immediately. wonderful animation

That's very similar to my interpretation. All that's missing is the use of conspiracy symbolism. My interpretation of it is that it represents our desire to "fight the power", brought on by our inner demons and our knowledge of the dark side of corporations. I also interpret the symbolism merging with the characters, leading to a half Mickey Mouse/half Adolf Hitler screaming at us to represent how we let it get in the way of our childlike wonderment and sense of imagination, causing us to resent certain works and characters.

I had to view this video twice to sort of take it all in. To me, this video visually conceptualizes - Life. It begins with the joining of the chromosomes and the embryonic cells developing into an infant. You see the development of the child, with all of his/her innoncence, eventually grow into adolescence and struggle between the letting-go-of the innocence to join the league of adulthood - the "Big Leagues" if you will. This all yields itself to the inevitable rigors that one deals with and works through during adulthood - the struggle of self & identity, the pain of loss, the living with stress and worry, etc. But it's not all bad. The man - or woman - finds a partner, or a love, or a passion, builds a family, and carries out it's legacy, serving it's primal purpose on Earth. It closes with the bittersweet, yet inevitable, truth we all know will come to all of us - death. But with this I take away a feeling of joy in knowing that I can share experiences with others and impart my ideas, beliefs, etc. But I'd love to hear everyone else's take on this. It is - after all - art, & is meant to open a table for discussion. - Andres

I understand what you want to say
For me , the video makes me thiink at : 0.48 : The birth and when a baby cry and scream for the first time of his life.
0.52: The baby grows up and go to nursery school at 2 or 3 years old. He learns about the difference between boys and girls. Hello Kitty is like that a little girl and Charlie Brown a little boy.
0.56: Mickey , Spiderman , Goofy: the child is interested in cartoon hero and go to parks like Disneyland. These heroes help him build his imagination.
0.59 : It makes me think at a bull with an only eye or Monsters and Cie 's film logo. Some childs made bad dreams with monsters.
1.02 : Dead of grand parents who who takes care of the child and that the child liked. Because there are too a skull.
1.03: Children's stupidity and parents who get angry at him
but when his parents are friendly and funny.
The loss of his first baby tooth.
      First year at primary school.
1.07 :10 years old girls , because she wants to choose her clothes and choose her look.
But too the puberty , when the little girl became a woman.
1.11 : Maybe the teenager girl thinks she is very old or ugly, anorexia, sometimes smoke drugs,......
Or the parents who become old and with exaggeration of the point of view of teenager.
1.14; Emotions in adolescence: moving from anger to sadness (depression depression, boredom, weariness, exhaustion) to aggressive and dangerous behavior that can put parents in a rage: they fear for their child.
1.19 : The pink panther : when a when a teen feels nice
a clown when she is in good spirits.
      .

Hello. After reading many of these comments i decided i should try to make the message of this marvelous work clear. I see that it's meaning is wrongly observed and thus most of the members of this community do not see the forest because of the trees.
    So we shall begin.
Firstly this animation is neither about exploring conciousness in any way (LSD tripping, meditation, introspection, etc.) nor a disscusion on the philosophycal topic regarding life, death and ethical existence.
This video is a combination between modern literature and history which exposes a very serious message that we all should be aware of. In other words, Andreas Hykade has illustrated the real face of Walt Disney.
Let's begin analysing the video piece by piece.
In the first sequence the center of attention is the black point in the middle of the blank screen which is somehow moving, expanding
, reducing, expanding again. This represents the creational level of the animator. The dot is the concept of inspiration , of art that will take a more complex form, which certanly happens as you can see the dot becoming a dynamic and continuous series of famous Disney characters like Mikey Mouse, Spider Man, Betty Boop, SpongeBob and so on.
But soon after that the graphic representation transforms into a black and grotesque display of horned creatures and distorted figures. Even the music changes, it becomes more violent. Is starts with that childish song and then becomes more abstract, colder and louder. It is obvious that music is directly linked with the friendlyness of the figures shown to us.
Here is the first part of the message. The way Hykade shows us Disney is honest. At first it was a small cartoon company with the only purpose of making some money from entertaining kids.
The procedure Hykade uses is similar to that of Charles Baudlaire, french poet, one of the founders of Symbolism. Baudlaire has initiated the idea of learning by playing, idea which ifluenced his work. Here is the same thing. On the background there are animations and childish music, but the message is serious, obscure.
Now here is the second sequence. It begins from the inflection point at 1:33 in which both Hitler and Stalin appear. It represent the time of World War Two in which Disney has transformed into a propaganda machine for the US gov. promoting patriotism and anti-nazism. But with this so called positive and well intetioned actions there are obvious changes. There are again shown by the increase in speed of music, agressivity of the figures shown in the video and the anormal moves. But something happens again. Something that is the key of the message.
Mickey Mouse with a Hitler moustache appears screaming like a monster. It is scary. And now the images are colored. Now the violence increases again.
We see diversity, ocult sugestion, many many many sexual representations, even those smartly integrated in the characters themselves.
And all this time Hykade is toying with us. Not in a rude way, but in a very serious one.
The video respect the accurate historic appearence of new characters, of colors of new styles which the Disney company has served our children all this time. We can even see the pyramid with the eye, which symbolises the evil intervention, an obscure intervention, an external influence that had made things go wrong as we can clearly see.
At last there is the third sequence. The screen is black and there are abstract forms (blue and red colors are mostly used at this point) appear , vanish, combine, split , and distort themselvs into Characters and Sexual symbols (really grotesque ones like the phallus and the vagina). These are now so well integrated in the characters that we can barely make the difference between a penis and a girl covering her boobs.
This univers is a post modernist representation of the Human Inner Mind.
Multiperspectivism shows us that all this fractions and sugestions that Disney shows, all of these reflect into the conciousness of our poor kids minds. And at the end there is that golden explosion of bright colors which is again only a mirrage. All the characters were after all just a suggestion bomb (filled with occult and sexuality) that our kids absorb. We can see the face of a happy kid that becomes smaller and smaller...and sad.
In conclusion this piece of art that Hykade has proposed is nothing less than a warning.
Even the title "Love and Theft" is explicit. Love is the childhood we have spent with Disney, with their entertainment and amusement. But there was also a theft. A spiritual destruction that Disney has tried on us and will try on our children. Through heart they are trying to programme the spirit, to change what we should love, to corupt our identities by sexualisation, by instinctincts, by occult. Beware of those who try to take your soul. Disney is not what is used to be. Open you eyes and see the Truth that lies in front of you . We are living a lie, Mickey Mouse is evil...after all.
    God bless you.

Lumping us all together as "idiots' seems a little conceited. You assume that we're not intelligent enough to comprehend what he's saying. I, in fact, do understand his analysis and not only disagree with it-- I disagree with the fact that he insists that his analysis is the only correct one. Art is like music. The beauty of it is that anyone can experience it in their own way and take their own meaning with them from that experience. Have you asked the artist themself what this video represents? No. I'm willing to get that you haven't. What makes this person's analysis any more correct than the countless others about life and death, drugs, or the like?

I see this as a journey through a man forming his identity, starting with crying, moving on to cartoons, then progressively more adult or edgy cartoons, then ideas of sex and religion and politics, then learning about the horrors of WW2 causes this person to revert back to the comfort of childhood joys. This person loops like that, trying to enjoy cartoons until the cruelty of the world is too much, going on like that a few times as the kids grows up and becomes more mentally and emotionally complex. Color comes in more when the young adult breaks that cycle and starts looking for women. When he finds his first girlfriend they are connected, but as is often the case, they break up, forming two different people in the process. Time skip a little, and this new version of himself is now experiencing his life with this other new person where his simple joys are mirrored with a viewpoint different than his own, making the old things he enjoys more complex and new in a way, seeing it through her eyes. Life goes on that way until he's old and looking back on his life. He realizes that a person is a mix of themselves and what is reflected in the eyes of others, before passing away fulfilled by the knowledge. Or something. That's the story I make in my head when I watch it, anyway.

I've been coming back to this video for years now and every single time that it gets to the part where everything goes blank and silent my entire body turns into chills. Then the ending makes me cry and leaves my hands and feet tingling.
