Its's not an insult on God, it's an insult of the man and his perception of God. He drank because "God told him too". When he was hungover, he drowned his sorrows to make it better. Then he thinks God is damning him with dishes, when in reality the dishes represent the problems in his life, and they seem to be piling up more because of God. When God didn't answer him, he searched to the bottle for relieve. Finally, he abandons God as he thought God abandoned him. But in reality, this is a story about a man who uses God as an excuse for his problems. Meaning the Potato is less God to him and more of an empty promise. I think the potato flying in and out of his life represents how maybe he was looking for God but was disappointed when he didn't get what he wanted, which was to not have any more problems and to drink his sorrows away. On whether it says God is bad or not is open, because obviously this mimics a lot of past human events with God. "If there is a God why would he allow something like the Halocaust?" It's mostly open. "He works in mysterrriooooous waaayys owowowoowowowwww". also in the description " claims to be god". Obviously the potato is something much darker than God.

im not sure thats the intention but interesting interpretation even though it doesnt really make total sense and you have to do a great deal of mental gymnastics to get to that... i think its about the pointlessness of worshiping a god who clearly is incredibly self centered and has a massive god complex.. all he cares about is everyone being on their knees for him at all times praising and praising him while giving eternal punishment to anyone who doesnt live up to his high specifications.. and what do we get back from him.. nothing at all he doesnt interfere in the world at all and is lazy just like the potato simply allowing all the terrible things in the world to happen while simultaneously only caring about how much people eternally praise him for beinng 'godly'.
Looks like Walter could use a couple of Wall-E's
Moral of the story: If your entrance is absurd enough and you look different enough you can convince anyone that you're a divine being and ruin their lives for your benefit.
I can't seem to figure out what the duplicating dishes' metaphor is for, though...

Very strange and alien, but hey, we've allowed our society and our culture to influence our minds more than we can imagine right now, and in some ways that's scary, but from another perspective that's awesome and exciting. Life is what you make of it.

Ok, so overall, this animated short is absolutely forwards, backwards, upside down, back to front, inside out, outside in, up and down, left and right, and well, over-the-top bizarre, surreal, and ABSURD! How do I know? Well, the short starts with Walter and Ms. Siebert, 2 good-hearted neighbors who get along well. And you may think that everything is going to be a "happily ever after", right? WRONG! All is right with our 2 neighbors when, all of a sudden... BAM! This drunk looking potato comes from out of nowhere! And to make matters absurd, he claims to be God! And what happens with our good-hearted neighbors? Well, these dirty dishes appear out of the nothingness, and for some reason or other (or for no reason at all) Walter's teeth start singing like people celebrating New Year's Eve (not to mention the only way to stop that is by drinking alcohol, even though Walter doesn't drink)! And, _JEEZ LOUISE,_ don't even get me started on the climax! The dishes flood the entire house, making our protagonists flee. They try to escape using the emergency ladder, but that doesn't work because of the weight of the dishes! Not to mention the so-called "God" in the form of a drunk potato doesn't help Walter and Ms. Siebert with their problem! So what does the female neighbor do? She presses the button on her mechanical chicken (I also forgot to mention they have a cow and a mechanical chicken) which makes the egg fall on the potato, which sends him falling into the outer space-like abyss. Walter panics over seeing the potato fall, but does Ms. Siebert even care a bit? I should say NOT! She, the cow, and the mechanical chicken leave him while the latter drinks the alcohol to stop his teeth from singing! Oh yeah! The credits are over-the-top WEIRD and CONFUSING! It shows Walter sadly walking in a forest of dirty dishes as he drink the bottle of alcohol to quiet down his teeth! And that's that! Like I said, this film is _extremely_ absurd, surreal, and satirical because I don't even know what it's supposed to mean! If anyone has any explanations, please give them to me! My head is _SPINNING_ from all the absurdism!

Everyone is talkiing about religion in the comments. Am I the only one who thinks the "potato god" is a metaphor for alcoholism? As in alcohol becomes your "god"? I mean, vodka is made of potato, and it is depicted as a drunnk and commands you to drink, so... anyway that is my take on this.
