To be fair to Formbot: their kit has improved a lot over the last few months. After Nero's build, they've listened to the critique and made a lot of improvements. Blurolls still looks better with genuine Hiwin rails and LDO motors, but the Formbot kit is not too shabby either and it features a pre-crimped wireloom, which takes away the worst job in building a Voron... :)
I have watched this video several times! I just love this review of the Voron! Your video inspired me to buy my Voron kit, which I just purchased yesterday. I've also decided to build one for myself... a little scary, but I decided to do it. To be fair, it can be compared to the PRUSHa XL. In some places there are even more interesting solutions. and it is also a very serviceable device.
I recently received my bluerolls 2.4 and it did come with the HF dragon and all exceptional quality parts. The only disappointment for me was the standard grade aluminium build plate and most of all the standard PEI sheet rather than the textured surface shown on the pictures
First time building. I’m considering V2, Trident OR an AliExpress Prusa clone like you reviewed a short while ago. My partner would love to be able to print statues etc. So I’m wondering…how often you find yourself printing over 250mm high? If you were starting out, which option would build first?
well honest answer is we print over 350 quite abit BUT we do fairly large models, for me the Trident and the V2 are lightyears ahead of even a real prusa let alone a clone

Loosing 50mm Z-axis build volume seems like a fair trade off for the easier build vs a V2. From what I've seen, for the few large models I'm ever likely to print, splitting a larger item into smaller prints and gluing together really isn't going to be a massive inconvenience.
Interstingly Jennyprinters made a design based on Voron 2.4 but with some smal improvements like changing to 4040 extrusions and starting with 350 by 350 buildplate for about 1250€, a 410 by 410 for about 1350€ - and as the final beast a version with 650 by 650 with a printheight of 600 for 2300€. While it is a big jump in price, I could not resist to order the real beast today... Interstingly its not only the change to 4040 they did, but they also seem to have replaced the plastic parts inside by aluminium, changed the belts to 9mm and did some other nice changes. Actually the first printer I found in this size as a kit. 650 by 650 might sound a bit mad, but even a 410 by 410 turned out to be to smal for some projects (for example my old Amiga 4000 front panel got lost in time and I want to recreate it...). I hope I can get a PEI powder coated spring sheet in this size...
saw your other comment, but now it's gone and I'm not sure why, the reason why we say we were not paid is that they did not pay for a good review and they have to sign terms before we accept the machine that if we do not like the machine we will say so, we also do include the paid promotion tag on videos like this because although we were not paid we didnt pay for the kit, i dont disagree that when we are getting stuff for free its hard to think we are not bias in some way, all i can say is that we try to be as open and honest as we can be, this is the best machine i have ever used and i would stand by that even if i had paid for it,
I hope you're planning on fixing your cable chains. The X and Z should not look like that. Just looking at X makes me cringe. X should have gradual bend and Z shouldn't be laying flat like that. It should up with bend down towards the bed. Glad you like the Voron, it was fun build for me. Any one thinking of building one; suggest purchasing wiring harness; saves a lot of time and head ache.
you're not wrong, and the reason its like this in the review is I'm actually buying a wiring harness to go back through it, I used JST connectors when I did the hotend and that meant I couldn't fit all my wires in, it does work as it stands but it all needs redoing, unfortunately with the video I have to build it as blurolls sent the kit, and with the wiring they gave this was the best I could do
I've got the same kit. But 300x300 still building I went with a wire kit also waiting on it. Trying to get my head wrapped around klipper and mainsail but do to being handicap. I can't set at a computer to long. Asked nero for some help with the print.cfg but haven't head back yet. Would you be willing to share your printer.cfg
Klipper can be tricky to get set up on any machine.. and hearing you talk about how come communities can be toxic.. yea thats the klipper discord for ya right there.. any question you ask is meet with some sort of snobbish arrogant response... that is if they acknowledged you asked it at all... disappointing as i really do think klipper is the future.. but good video man! think im gonna start on my own build here soon ;)
Bought the 2.4 350x350 from formbot a week ago and they asked if I wanted the current kit or to wait till early November for the upgraded kit. The upgrade has pre-wired harness, Moons stepper motors, cast build plate, Omron relay, stainless hardware and some other minor changes I can't recall. I believe their Dragon is also a Phaetus but I have a std flow Phaetus here so I'll likely stick to that for now. Their Trident kit already has these upgrades but I wanted the 2.4 still as it's larger on the Z and has belts on the Z as well. I probably would have went to a Trident if the Z was belt driven...

Doesn't make sense as my shipping receipt for $98.12 says 3-8 day shipping from China via DHL/TNT/FedEx/UPS. I have seen others in Europe get the newer kits a week ago so I think they are just hoping a ship comes into the US and they can charge me the $98 shipping and save on it by shipping from a US location. I'll cancel if I have to it's not worth waiting as I have 30 day recourse with PayPal and its been almost 10 now.
As someone who largely watches things like this at work with only one earbud in please have audio in both channels for your mic. Saved to watch later but until I figured out what was going on (voice only in right channel) I thought the video had no audio :/ Cheers 👍

Good video. Seems like the sound was in mono rather than stereo. Been debating between this and the ratrig vcore 3. I wish there were some good comparison videos out there. Everyone is solidly in one camp or the other.
you're not wrong about the sound we had filmed about 4 videos before we realized the issue apologies, on the Vcore and the Voron comparison, I'm going to be honest and say fundamentally one is not better than the other, there is a fairly long waiting list for Vcore right now where as you could self source a Voron tomorrow or buy a kit and have it in a week, that would be my deciding point and you can get a Vcore abit larger than a Voron and that is a huge plus, so if you need bigger than 350x350 get a Vcore if you need it now lol then buy a Voron
i dont have a formbot kit to compare to, the issues with the formbots kits are well documented on the discord group and the facebook page, they may of gotten better but there were alot of issues with QC before
V1.8 has evolved into a Trident. Now 3 Z with linear rails on the Z. And one Voron is never enough. I have a V1.8 (awaiting Trident upgrade), a V0.1, and the hardware to transfer my Ender 3 into a Switchwire.
i would have buyed this printer if it hade come compleat. i can´t deal whit the installations off firmware and things therfore ill go for a VIVEDINO TROODON instead
Im torn between saving for this or a rat rig.. in both cases (though RR offers the printed parts) is many kits offered 'without the printed parts'. If I could print the parts I wouldnt need another 3D printer. The voron appeal to me is speed and alot of precision tuning that can be done. Thanks for the review was very helpful and informative.

If they are genuine, they are probably B or C quality rails. But we aren't using high torque, tight tolerance stuff like CnC or pick and place. We're squirting melted plastic in pretty shapes. B or C is fine. My £6 B stock Omron probe is fine for the same reason.
Came here to say this. I’m sure they’re fine since most chiwins are but buying genuine hiwins from a distributor for a 350 costs as much as the whole blue rolls kit.
how do you know rails and motors are genuine.. just because they said it is and its marked as such, doesn't prove that its genuine. knockoffs are very convincing
so all i can convey is what blurolls have told me which is that these are genuine HIWIN rails but they are not the top grade that HIWIN sell, i have no way of validating that other than what have said and telling you that they do work well
we have corrected the issue for future videos but UA-cam wont let us update it, we would have to delete this video and post another or have 2 videos up, we listen from a soundbar not headphones which is why we didnt notice
The hiwin rails are fake. But the rails are indeed still very good. The fotek 10a SSR, is indeed a genuine one. 10a (true 10a, not fake), is more as enough. As blurolls gaved you an genuine fotek it's perfectly fine. Let me point it out: - Very good fakewin rails! - genuine fotek ssr (this is rare, cause 99% fotek ssr's are fake) - shitty chains - no ptfe wires (those aren't bom, but totally recommend over silicone) - no dupont plate, a cheap acryl one (the one under the bed), will warp in a enclosed printer. - 1mm foam tape (you need 2mm or 3mm to not get scratched panels), but the voron team sadly have 1mm listed in the bom (stupid) Aside from all that, the blurolls kit is still the best kit out there. The bed plate (new silver one, the one you have) is very flat! And there is much more things that are on the pro side! Next:
Issue 6, is heavily a generic problem on a 2.4. even if not a problem for you, it is one for the 50% of the community. The ratrig vcore is overall better designed, with custom designed motors and it prints better (beautifuller and faster). But the ratrig has other issues that will exceed this topic. Let me conclude in short: - ratrig prints definitively better and faster!! - voron has a million of mods, which are amazing! - both have an super nice community (voron one is more active tho) So in the end, it's only the best printer for you, but for everyone who just wants best "prints" without having a modding soul, should choose a ratrig! honest answer is i dont disagree i think if all you want is a 300x300 machine then the voron and ratrig print effectively the same quality, HOWVERE if you want to go big i.e. 500x500 then you have to go ratrig at that point

That's exactly how I feel about my Voron Switchwire I love it. Now I have to build a v2.4
the 2.4 is my favorite machine right now, I will say I don't think its any better than say a ratrig but it is 100% on par with them

I kept the old SSR, but bought a new good one and now I'm using both at the same time for redundancy.
That looks like a bit of a beast.
