- As we get more and more involved with our plants, one thing that is so fun to do is to share plant cuttings with friends, family, or even strangers! it's the best and most cost effective way to increase your plant family.
In this video I show how to take various cuttings and pack them up to get them ready to ship out. This method can also work if you are moving and you are not able to bring full size plants but you still want to bring some plant life with you! This method will keep the cuttings fresh and viable for 5 days or so, generally ample time for them to arrive and get replanted.
This advice is for domestic mail in USA and is not advised for international shipping or traveling, as importation rules vary widely from country to country. #houseplants #propagation #plants

Hahah take cuttings with you!!
Some advice which i know wasnt asked for but always send cuttings in a box never in a shipping bag. And cutting roots will only add to the stress of the plant.
👍👍
loved this! Propagation is exciting as f

Great video as I am traveling to the Florida Everglades and I wanted to bring back some plants unique to my area in New Jersey. Both for my Garden and my Koi pond. My concern was that if they were invasive their might be a problem. So shipping them would be way better than packing then in my luggage. I'll pack my shipping supplies, thanks for the tips.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful. This method really works well, I’ve used it many times
Thats exciting!
yesss!! the cuttings arrived and have started growing!
Could you have rooted the leaves that you cut off from the Philodendron?
If there is a node, then yes
I want to share my super blooming African violet with family, and your instructions were clear and concise! Would it be good to dip the scissors between plants? Thanks!😊
If you are worried about fungus!
Love the info.. In the video, a bug crawled around the pot's edge when you were cutting the begonia. fungus gnat?
I’m not sure what it was!

Hope it helped!

If you don't want a course on types of plants and just want to know how to pack and mail the cuttings, that part starts at 11;41
Thanks
Do you have to wash off the soil before packaging them? I have a plant in a ball of soil and I worry about damaging the roots if I break away the soil.
I think you’ll find the roots to be more resilient than you think once you start washing them off. Yes you need to remove the soil
Hi! Thank u for this video!!! I have a question: I need to ship some adansonii cuttings (they are not rooted yet) and I thought to not use a moist paper towel. The shipping will take 3/4/5 days, is it a good idea?
Yep totally will work. Definitely use a moist paper towel and ensure the plastic is wrapped well
hi Devin, great video! would you be kind enough to send me Thuja Occidentalis cuttings? on my expense off course
Done!
Me and some buddies are trying to figure out if we can do this with “the plant” …any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated
such a shame is it so risky to do so. best of luck
i know you use bleach solution to sterilize, unfortunately i have a bad reaction to any amount of bleach around me, would a diluted solution of like alcohol or something work instead?
Yes that should work, just very mild
11:58 is there Any alternatives instead of paper towel
You could use cloth
The proper action started at about 7:40 minutes after in the video. Not fair 😢. Too much talk without action. You could just do the video and do a voice over 🙏
Thanks for your feedback. Over the last few months I’ve been working to reduce unnecessary talking. If you watch more recent videos I hope you’ll notice
