For some people a stretch is just a tacky status symbol that wrecks the already-compromised handling, for others who are dedicated drag racers it's so they can put the power down early without looping it.
So wait tell me if I heard this right your saying that the 2001 and 2007 busa have carbs mmmmmmmm no......
Just to correct you. I own a gen 1 hayabusa and this bikes are not carbureted they are fuel inyected! Ask your self. How your going to put a power commander to program a carburated bike?? 🤦🏻♂️

I started on a 2000 busa no rev limiter, plus I weigh 145, and my bike is stretched. I never had a problem even riding in the canyons, it handles like a beast with good tires. I’m glad I didn’t start on any other bike I would have regretted it on a smaller bike.
1999 model wasnt speed capped,, and the busa isn't carburated was always EFI, and 99 busa top speed from factory was 195mpg 172hp..
limited to 186, or 299kmh

yeah the first year hayabusa being unrestricted is what started the governed bikes. Because an unrestricted busa with just a couple mods will break 200mph.
Yes performance wise they don't break away from the pack til your at high speeds and yet it's so so so so much more comfortable than any liter bike. So why buy anything else honestly? Ppl argue all The time that busas can't corner thats total nonsense, decent body English and it will hang with 600's in the twistys. And if anyone's read all this.... in terms of looks it's the sexiest bike on the street period! Haters gonna hate, real recognize real Busa ftw from the beginning to the end
I've always liked the look of the Busa. There's just something inherently female when it comes to the shape of it. As for the engine, even if it had 600cc I would still love it.
Busa can't corner compared to a 600cc.. That's already been proven with 600cc bikes getting better lap times than their 1000cc counter parts...
Yet, for Road usage at a reasonable pace you'll have no problem keeping up with 600cc bikes. I think people saying that are looking at it from pure track usage and lap times that have been set by "Professionals", but they fail to miss the fact that they aren't Professionals.
But what makes a person a professional? Valentino Rossi would be a professional on highly specialized 1000cc MotoGP bikes, but how would he fare on a Goldwing or a Busa? How would he fare in a situation where he actually has to deal with traffic? One skill does not equate to another. The same way how a person that has been riding heavy bikes for 40 years on the road wouldn't even come close to Rossi's laptimes on a GP bike.

I would still place my bets on Valentino Rossi being faster on the street than most.

Thomas Spratt no carbs throttle body I have a 99 and a 06 busa only difference is the 99 has a external fuel pump what sit on the throttle body and the 04-07 sit in gas tank no busa ever had carbs I converted my 99 to the same set up as my 06 only thing I had to do is buy a 04-07 gas tank and fuel pump u can look it up the 99 is no faster then my 06 99 just had 220 on the dash and the 06 has 185 on the dash but I put a t.r.e in my 06 so it has no restriction

Sean, no Hayabusas were ever carbureted. I think the choke you speak of is really just a fast idle knob, my RC51 has one even though it's fuel injected.
You are Right! But it does the same thing as a Choke as I have a Busa and a 2006 Katana which has the same set up but the Katana is Carbureted. But yes you are Right.
Not the same set up the busa is idle control and the katana actual changes the gas to air ratio

Yes what appears to be a choke is just a fast idle knob. Never really used mine when I had my Busa. Always started right away no matter how cold it was, and ran smooth as butter even in cold temps.
This guy is NOT an owner, knows nothing about it (6:51 carburated?), and he doesn't even know if there's a third generation model. Considering he is a dealer that's unforgivable. Luckily he has a beard! Basically it is the fastest production bike of the 20th century and that is just the beginning. He's right in saying that the bike is stable, it is extremely stable, but amazingly it is ALSO extremely flickable and corners well. One tip: keep an eye on the rear tyre pressure, keep it a little low, otherwise it spins out too easily, especially when leaned right over and you just pass the apex and give it a twist...

Yeah bought a Busa my second year of riding. Went from an old Kawasaki Vulcan with like 55 hp to a 180 something Busa (gen 1 with a few performance mods). No problem. Just have to be careful with the throttle.
A hayabusa was and is my first motorcycle. My first riding experience before that was up and down the street a few times on a 2001 gsxr 1000. I learned to really ride on my busa. 1. respect it, 2 take your time, 3 dont try to keep up with advanced riders, 4. when you think you've mastered it, you haven't, 5 repeat number 1

Mostly we STRETCH them, I'm 6',5", 300lbs, it's stable....
Plus it keeps the bike down with the Minnie wheels on the back...

There are TONS of riders that start out on liter bikes man...what you don't get, is if you respect the machine, you will do fine. Where ppl start messing up is they start acting a fool on these things when they think theyre comfortable and mess up and lay it down doing some squid junk. Respect the bike and you can start on whatever you want to start out on. Be smart about your environment youre riding in and youll be good.
You are correct about First year Hayabusa being 1999. I have a long history with these motorcycles, owned 5 of them starting with a 2000, drag raced and did top speed events such as Maxton,NC which is not there anymore it was a close down Air Force Base which they held top speed of events, also put on 180,000 Street miles between all of them, so here's a little history. The 99 and the 2000 Hayabusa were the only years that were not limited, capable of reaching a top speeds in upper 190's depending on conditions and who's riding it also has a 220 mph speedo after that the Hayabusa was governed to 182 miles an hour for all preceding years. The reason being a police helicopter was chasing motorcycles down a highway, I believe it was in Ohio sometime in the year 2000 and the bikes, one being a Hayabusa, outran the police helicopter raising the eyebrows of the politicians which then forced all motorcycle manufacturer's to limit production bikes from then on to be speed limited at 182mph. So any Hayabusa produced from 2001 on is top speed limited and has a speedo that only goes up to 185mph. This was of course by passed by after-market Electronics one being Ivan's Tre speed limiter which also took away the timing retardation in the first four gears under 5k RPM and the top speed limiter in 6th which would pull to 10,500rpm which equated to 182mph with stock gearing, the way the TRE worked was when you click in 6th gear it fooled the ECU into thinking it was still in 5th gear, done with a resistor, so your gear indicator would read 5th gear twice once when you were in 5th and in 6th. This would could be seen on the updated Gen2 Hayabusa 2008 and up as it was released with a gear indicator. This morning works on all Hayabusa years but now with improved tech people just remove the limiters through the ECU with an ECU editor, no need for any kind of plug-in aftermarket add-on just make the changes in the ECU, you have to luv advances in go fast tech. 👍 Ride safe!
Quck question; when you stretch a bike, like the one you are riding, if you are riding in the rain will the water come up from the back tire and spray you on your back? Or, will the water simply stay away from you and you won't get all that water on you?

My first bike is a busa n I rip it perfectly fine corners n going to redline the first day riding it but I think ima exception n I think most shouldn’t because it is a bike you gotta respect n I’ve had years of dirtbike expirience used to the back end spinning

Even if you start on a 400cc "starter" bike it can still go 100+ mph and can kill you. If it doesn't, you may eventually feel skilled enough and get to the monster that will, but you will be a better rider. I know a guy on his 4th Busa who started riding motorcycles on a Busa and it showed. He was slow and timid, safe maybe but by far the slowest rider in our group. I started 47 years ago on a 500cc, now on a 1,352cc, my Kawasaki temporarily "out of order" waiting for parts to repair the left mirror I lost lane splitting at 170 mph a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I should have started on a Busa.
Lots of misinformation on this bike.
A. 99 was the only unrestricted year as far as top speed. Hence the Gentlemens agreement and the now shitty 189mph restricted mph.
B. They are not carburetored. That's a throttle choke for cold starts.
C. A gen1 is fine for learning. Most gen1 busas make mid 160hp to the wheel. The bike is not that fast.
D. Any stretched bike will break the rear loose. Your ass isnt putting weight on the back tire.
Mabe u should go buy a new back tire.
I have an 07 Busa and It’s fuel injected! I don’t know why you think they have carburetors.
The rear tire isn't bald, Sean. its a Shinko Hookup. Its a drag tire. not ideal on the street. a Dunlop Dragmax is a better "sticky option for the street
I've had CBR 1000rr .....FJ600....R1.....GSXR 1000rr.... now I have a Hyabusa GXS 1300 r man what a bike ...I love it all the way around handles like a dream smooth, quick, and all the above but most of all it is ....COMFORTABLE.....HYABUSA 1300 IS THE SHIT IN MY BOOK
I have a first gen 2000 candy blue and silver(only color scheme that only ran one year besides the copper99). All busa’s are fuel injected. And after 2000 all bikes were governed to 186 without a TRE. Hate to be one of those guys that likes to correct in the comments but I couldn’t help myself.
First bike i had a go on was a busa at 15. Had lots of repect for the power. Stated at high idle up and down the street. Then gave it the smallest amount of throttle. Scary how heavy the bike was and the amount of power even at idle 😂😂

People stretch busa’s to keep the front end down while drag racing. I have a 40 shot on a otherwise stock motor and even with my 6” extension it will still lift the front going into 2nd with a properly warmed up tire and in the sticky strips (tire tracks) at the drag strip. It doesn’t affect the handling as much like a streached front end on a chopper however so it’s more rideable. Another reason people stretch bikes is for the look but those people are posers and you shouldn’t be friends with them :p

What my 99 has fuel injections
ALL the Hayabusa's are fuel injected and what you thought was a "choke" is the fast idle. A bike not being fuel injected would be a deal breaker for most buyers so it might would help to do a little research on a bike you're trying to sell
Yeah some of the EFI Suzukis of that era had a fast idle lever where the choke would be on a carbureted bike. It's been many years since I rode a 98.5+ GSX-R750 SRAD but I think those had the lever too, again for fast warmup since they were EFI and not carbed.

The fuel injected 99 Hayabusa was not governed by the US. The US went to Suzuki and ordered them to recall the bike to slow them down. The recall was to remove and replace the CDI box to cap the speeds at 185 from the 194 it could do.
And in the south we still took off all caps/ limitations and dragged them all day and bet at the track!!!!

*Me &U* fuel mapping, adjusting the computer tuning of the motorcycle, dialing in the proper air to fuel ratio etc.
You can tune a lot of bikes directly through the ECM now a days as well.. But the nice part of the new PCV is the ability to have 2 maps that you can switch between with a switch you install. Makes it nice to go from a street map to a nitrous map

juan garcia it's all about weight transfer in relation to traction. Dragsters use sticky tires and burnouts make them hot and even more sticky. This gives so much traction that you need a stretch to get the right weight transfer. But on street tires on the road, the weight will remain too much in the front = light rear end.
Kenjh71 you do know weight transfers back...adds weight on back wheel secondly it keeps bike from doing a wheelie. You don't need a drag tire just for it to stick...you just need a tire that's not worn
No it loses traction from bigger tires on 360s that where meant to grip and for better. Its the exact same traction with any wingarm as long as the wheel stays the same. As for cornering it corners the same as long as the swing arm is shorter than 14 inches extended. In theory its the same regardless of the length of the wheel base because twistys and turns in roads usually consist of angle no greater than 45°. And if your cornering a 90°degree angle at highspeeds your gonna die on any bike period. But generally speaking we cut corners at an angle of 30° regardless of the length of the arm your turning the same on any bike with any length roads arent tight ropes. Meaning angles only matter the wider the area whole reason semi's arent good around tight turns is not only because there very long but because there slightly wider as well. If they where as skiny as a motorcycle theyd make the turn at any speed you pushed it to of its limits so if your hitting twists at 90 mph long as hell your gonna make the turn the same. Im sorry if it made no since to some of you but you gotta imagine the turn and calculate speed its not as simple as saying its longer so it wont corner the same and has less traction. 📐📕 show me proof from tests otherwise showing the big diffrence. Diffrence is so minor it doesnt exist in real life scenarios. sure a yardstick swing arm looks dumb but only affects ride in a positive way such as keeping the front end down.
Willie King If you want proof, then ask any professional racer. Changes made in millimeters can affect the handling of any and all bikes. A stretched swingarm is useful for straightline acceleration only. It changes the centerline of the bike which helps keep the front-end from rising during hard acceleration. It definitely changes handling characteristics, very noticeably for anyone who has enough experience to notice. That is why supersport bikes do not come stick with stretched swingarms. A shorter swingarm turns more with responsive than a longer one, but would also sacrifice acceleration stability. Tire size, tire shape and air pressure also have handling effects. Most professionals run air pressures well below street recommended levels. 2 psi can make a huge difference. Professional stunt drivers over inflate tires for sliding scenes. There has been much research and millions spent learning about this.
From 1990-2007 first generation. 2008- till now, second generation. No such thing as a third generation busa.

Stretched is for Strip purpose only, other than that you are doing it for looks. Speaking of which I was never a fan of. Its a crazy bike but the ass end is just ugly for days. They also tend to be the biggest show squid bikes but to each's own.
