    This sweet #1929 #ModelA #Roadster 1/25 Scale Model is due in late March 2020!
    The Ford Model A (also colloquially called the A-Model Ford or the A, and A-bone among rodders and customizers)[3] was the Ford Motor Company's second market success after its predecessor, the Model T. First produced on October 20, 1927, but not introduced until December 2,[4] it replaced the venerable Model T, which had been produced for 18 years. This new Model A (a previous model had used the name in 1903-04) was designated a 1928 model and was available in four standard colors.By February 4, 1929, one million Model As had been sold, and by July 24, two million.[5] The range of body styles ran from the Tudor at US$500 (in grey, green, or black)[5] to the Town Car with a dual cowl at US$1200.[6] In March 1930, Model A sales hit three million, and there were nine body styles available.[5]Model A production ended in March 1932, after 4,858,644 had been made in all body styles.[7] Its successor was the Model B, which featured an updated inline four-cylinder engine, as well as the Model 18, which introduced Ford's new flathead (sidevalve) V8 engine.
    The Model A was well represented in media of the era since it was one of the most common cars. Model kits remain available from hobby shops as stock cars or hot rods.Several Model As have obtained particular fame. The "Mean Green Machine", a green and black 1931 Tudor Sedan, has been a staple of University of North Texas football games and special events since 1974, maintained by the spirit organization Talons since the 1980s. The Ramblin' Wreck, a 1930 Sport Coupe, is the official mascot of the student body at the Georgia Institute of Technology and appears at sporting events and student body functions. Ala Kart, a customized 1929 roadster pickup built by George Barris, won two straight "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" awards at the Oakland Roadster Show before making numerous film and television appearances. Between October 1992 and December 1994, Hector Quevedo, along with his son Hugo, drove a 1928 Model A 22,000 mi (35,406 km) from his home in Punta Arenas, Chile to Ford headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. The car required minimal service, including a flat tire and transmission work in Nicaragua, and is now housed in the Henry Ford Museum.[21]Charlie Ryan's song "Hot Rod Lincoln" featured a modified Model A. The song has been covered several times since its original release.

    I've watched both of your build videos for this model, well done! You covered this model very well!
    Currently I am finishing up the Revell 32 highboy, my only gripe with any of these kits, is, none come with a Ford Flathead v8, they all have smallblock Chevy engines. For my 32 I want to honor the beginning of Hot Rodding, and a Flathead would be perfect for my build! I just wish I could find one. Well I did find a couple on eBay, cost is more than the kit, LOL! and they don't have a transmission attached. I'll find one for my 32 one of these days!
    Keep posting builds! I also l love that you don't stick one genre of model building, you build a variety of subjects. I dig that!

    Just a simple tip, use the rear axle mounts that are on the frame to locate the axle and springs, but do not glue the axle to frame and then after the springs and trailing arms are set cut the mounts off. This will let the axle look like it could move up and down.

    Another great build 👍
    You obviously save all your spare parts from other builds
    My Brother and I did the same and after a while we had enough spare parts to build our own "custom" builds from various parts of models. Rat rods, custom cars and trucks. It was fun and creative to mix and match parts to come up with our own crazy ideas for rides. I'd love to see what wild and crazy ideas you would build out of the spare parts ( including decals) that you have. Let your imagination and your knowledge go wild. Love to see a video of that. 😊👍👍

    Hello, thank you for the reply. I knew you would have the scoop on Revell. I don't always believe everything that I read. That is why I asked you. When you mentioned that Revell sent the kit I had a feeling that things might not be as bad as I saw on the internet. It was also older information too. This is a big help to others who heard of problems with Revell of USA. I hope that they keep releasing the great kits they offer. Revell is one of my all time loved makers. Thank you again.

    Wrote about warped windshield frames. I found if I cut top and bottom window frames out and used close diameter scrap plastic to produce the frame after gluing clear to end posts, it came out looking almost like original.did two of these.

    Hello, very interesting. I have been a little heart broken seeing on the internet that Revell has been going through very hard times. Revell of Germany from what I saw is still OK but Revell USA might be almost out of biz. and I saw it was going to Pre School stuff. I don't know how much longer it will be around. What I need to know if it is truly going out of biz. It's been sold off a few times in the last few years. Is there any way that you might know about the future of Revell ? From what I saw it kind of looks bad.
    Not many new people getting into the hobby. Kids today rather play on their phones than anything else so it seems. Back to the build. It looks great, nice Rat Rod. Thanks I always enjoy the builds and the stories with it.

      I'm not sure what your source is, but try not to take those 'experts' too seriously unless they can provide real hard facts from genuine sources they can prove (a lesson in real life as well).
      Revell Germany bought Revell USA a little while back and has taken over their operations for the most part. They have a small US office and are doing their best to provide us with kits and what not.
      Revell has always tried to expand into RC and other toys, like any good company should expand it's offerings across markets.

    • @dwcwoody
      @dwcwoody Рік тому

      Very good comment on the usually misused classification of "Rat Rod". In addition, I was getting a bit confused over the OPs calling the body chopped. As it's a roadster, the name "chopped" refers to the amount of material removed between the very top portion of the car, and the bottom of the glass area on the body, where all the glass would have to be cut to make the roof lower for sedans coupes and such. This also contains the height of the windshield for the roadsters and convertibles. Your reply with regards to a "Channelled" car is correct though which is to lower the body of the car on the frame of the vehicle, which I think the OP is referring to when he is mentioning "Chopped". There is also another more radical style of building hot rods and customs, is to "Section" a body where the car has a certain amount of the body removed making the body of the vehicle lower between the bottom of the glass and the very bottom of the car body.
      I don't mean to criticize the OPs building of his models as I find his instruction and finished models absolutely fantastic. I was hoping maybe, to enlighten new model builders to get to understand building terminology. I'm an old bugger (72 to be exact), and have built many AMT car kits to enter into contests way, (way way way) back in the 60s and won the odd one or two, however, with all the new paints and other materials and tools, such as air brushes in particular, make the end results of todays model cars much better. I only wish I had one back then. One car I built was an AMT 1963 Ford Thunderbird convertible that I cut open the doors and had hinges on them, the inside door handles I made to move looking like they open the doors. I could make all the side windows go up and down, manually of course, metal tubing for the exhaust pipes and the lights work in front and back with the very small grain of rice bulbs. the suspension worked with the use of pen springs and the front wheels turned. I couldn't make the steering wheel work with the wheels though. The car was mounted on a block of wood. I won first prize and if I remember correctly, the prize was an AMT 1963 Ford Thunderbird convertible. I know one contest where I won the same item as I had entered, I can't remember if it was that one. This was back when I was 14 or 15 so I was pretty young. Of course I had a lot of help from my older brother. He was an excellent painter back then and we only had spray cans to use back then.
      Sorry, I'm rambling on here, so I do apologize, but I want to give the OP a lot of credit for his exceptional work and all his help in giving us "Newbies" and "Old Farts" the desire and help to carry on building. I am actually into model railroading and real hot rod building at this point in time. I really hope I haven't scared off any new model builders or insulted anybody with my verbal diatribe, so it is here that I will eventually stop.

    Any self respecting Jalopy would never have it's wheels pointed in the same direction! lol. I'll have to get this kit for those beautiful tires.

    I just started working on this kit and I can’t seem to figure out what the rectangular part is supposed to be. The ID on the sprue says 3F, but I’m kinda lost.
    Loved the video by the way! Kit looks great!

    Great build again, is there a vehicle you would like to see as model kit,? Personally I would like to see the new Morgan 3 wheeler or a Vanderhall .

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  4 роки тому +1

      Lots of stuff out there I'd love to see kitted, but right now I'd love to see something like my 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro for selfish reasons, and it's the best selling small truck on the market.
      I was lucky and Fujimi made my FJ.
      But instead of best selling vehicles, the model companies went and made a Hyundai Santa Fe. LOL

    If you want more accurate hot rod tires for this kit,there is a competition and performance tire set by AMT,that you can choose to use;if name brand tires,tire specs,and dimensions,are important to you.
