And then John died, Julian was mostly left out of the will and had to sue Yoko, who fought in court for 16 YEARS to avoid giving Julian any more money, but finally settled. I can see why Julian may not hold his father in the same high esteem that others do. And Yoko, well, I'm not going to use that kind of language in a public post. But you know what she is, don't you?

I remember a while after his Mum Cynthia Lennon died and Julian wasn't invited to some event honoring his Dad that he clearly should have been- he did a rant on how he really felt about it on some social media. Then he shortly after deleted it and replaced it with a warm sentiment from his Mum about not wanting to be ugly like them and thanking his Mother for teaching him how to handle hard times with dignity. ❤ I always liked Julian and hated how things happened with John leaving and acting like they never existed. 😮 My level of respect increased for him because of how he handled that with the same grace and class Cynthia would have, really touched my heart that day! ✌️

      Proverbs 25:20
Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on a wound, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
      It’s the song of fools.
The song is in the key of F Major with the subject matter of someone leaving their child to commit adultery.
Paul McCartney writing pop/rock songs that end up in a nah nah nah nah pub style chorus to cheer a young boy up didn’t really help.
The sheet lyrics gifted to Julian were at his Fathers and Yoko’s place when John died. Yoko refused to return the original sheet lyrics among other belongings to Julian when John died.
As a result of all this Julian had to buy them back secretly when Yoko put the lyrics up for auction.

And yet people are so judgemental towards John Lennon for being who he was, despite John Lennon having his own lived trauma of rejection/abandonment by his father and mother who, regardless of loving him/visiting him, couldn't care for him and thus, he was taken away and put in the care of his aunt Mimi.
Unfortunately, John Lennon didn't/couldn't cut the trauma cycle and it continued and impacted on Julian.

I will always have good memories of Cynthia. I was in Toronto Canada with Cynthia and she was telling me that Julian was in N.Y. fighting Yoko in court over his inheritance . she was supposed to release his money to him and she was refusing to give his his money he was to get. Yoko was a real piece of work.. there are so many things about her that folks don't know about her. and it would probably be to her benefit for folks not to know more.. but i want Julian to know his mother talked about him all the time i was with her.. he had bad times but i think his mother did alright by him..

Lennon also beat Bob Wooler (DJ at the cavern club) almost to death in 1963 for insinuating that Lennon and Brain Epstein had an affair. Tbf, Lennon was never violent again after that incident and slapping Cynthia, but he could still be a nasty piece of work by emotionally abusing Julian. When the public hears the breakup is official, there was probably a period before that where John just wasn’t there doing his father role. I've wondered before how Julian thought of his father. Don't know whether he has said much about it, haven't tried to find out, but it's interesting hearing this clip.
My father left my mom and me when I was 5, and one day a year later he simply didn't show up for his weekly visitation and he was out of my life. That was nearly 50 years ago and I still remember looking out the window waiting for him.
I saw him briefly when my grandfather died when I was 13. Then my mom took him to court when I was starting college to pay the tuition as he agreed in the divorce, and the child support he stopped paying when I was around 10. Then I saw him a handful of times in my 20s when I tried to establish some relationship with him, giving up when it was obvious he was completely indifferent toward me.
He once told me he was "sorry" if he had caused me any pain, but he had no regrets. To this day, I cannot understand how a person can spawn and then abandon a child, and be completely indifferent.
He's still out there, in his mid 70s now, a successful healthcare attorney in Detroit probably wrapping his career. He had two other kids (each by different women) whom he did not abandon. Do I ever cross his mind? Is he ever curious what I'm up to, how I'm doing? As he nears the end of his life, will he have some epiphany and try to reach out to me? I highly doubt it, but what would/should I do if he did?
It took years, but i don't think about him and what he did every day anymore, and I'm so not angry about it as I once was. But being abandoned by your own parent, especially at such a young age, has a major lifelong impact, and I recognize that impact in myself daily.
John Lennon is so revered by so many, but can't help think of what he did to Julian and how that will continue to affect Julian for the rest of his life. With his father's fame and the fame he inherited, it must be in his face daily. I hope it doesn't torment him and he has found peace with it.

I love John Lennon, but that was an awful thing to do; Abandoning your family like that. I understand divorce. People grow apart. However, you must still fulfill your duties as a parent.
Although this is just my opinion, and it isn't intended to defend John's actions, I believe that Yoko was a user. She met John when he was in a vulnerable state and that she manipulated him shamelessly. By persuading John, in abandoning Julian and Cynthia, Yoko was eliminating the competition. Yoko found the perfect mark, and she took full advantage of it, bleeding him dry and winding up, keeping almost all of John's fortune when he was murdered.

Haha if you believe that you'll believe anything. John was never 'vulnerable'. He was always in complete control of his work and his home life. He called the shots. You magnanimously wave a wand to absolve him of any wrong doing and make the responsibility Yokos. They BOTH were nasty pieces of work. Stop idol worshipping the man. If he never wrote songs and drove a garbage truck, I'm 100 percent sure you wouldn't be giving him a free pass. He gaslit poor Cynthia from the start, and would practically punch her in the face and demean her. A right 'groomer' he was, controlling her and taking and doing what he wanted. Abhorrent little man who happened to be musically talented. I'd rather the Beatles never existed than allow that horrible man to exist and make innocents suffer.
