@pirateredbeard3383 actually, nobody knows who wrote it! Thats part of its beauty of a lot of folk music, it's nearly impossible to trace it back to its origin!

I enjoy covers, it tells alot about the artist. This song is covered alot. when done correctly, it draws up emotion in the words of the song. there is pain and hurt in this song. These guys had me at the beginning, then they went there own way. Simply amazing interpretation. Why and I just now finding these guys?
I cant get enough of this band. Each one is uniquely different in my eye but yet put them all together as they so beautifully did ! You get one awesome very very talented musicians!
This cover really lets the Dead South imbue their own style into a classic song! I'd like to see more cover songs! I was thinking maybe Cotton Eye Joe.
You guys are one of the most creative bands you make music fresh and creative like art..your music is very enjoyable....glad to have this experience....
My father is laughing his as off after I told him I loved this musi..... he has been a bluegrass enthusiast since before I was face first into music.... bless him!!!!!
When you decide to cover a song like that, from a band like that about an issue like that you are setting yourself up for failure. The Dead South didn't care and just did it, and completely nailed it. All the respect in the world to those musicians. Love that track.
Hilarious, I just heard them do People are Strange, from the Doors and expected yet another fail - as some bands put such an incredible stamp on their music.
From a band like what? It's an old folk song that has been covered by many singers and bands and the Animals (whose cover is probably the best known) were not the first.
The Animals didn't write this, it's an old traditional song. I'm just being difficult, I know their cover is based on the version the Animals did, haha
This is actually one of the few songs they can't fully trace it back! They aren't sure where it originated, but some think it goes back to the late 1700s
Those down south who were in the area where the song originated from said a man named Muddy Waters wrote the original song, then the Animals did it. But of course someone's gonna have a cow about southern legends. Kinda like arguing over the fact Johnson left to the crossroads with no talent, and came back as good as a star. Their legends for a reason.

Danny Kenyon can't always be with the band because he's maintaining a career in civil engineering. During those times, he's replaced with Erik Mehlsen.
Love this song love this band lol seen you guys in Manchester with my brother always come back to this song as well as others soooo good thank you Deadsouth 😊🙏❤🙌💜😀😊 lol

Это удивительно! Я слышал это в исполнение Animals еще в начале 70-х, сам играл на гитаре и пытался петь. Воспринимал это всегда как балладу. Это исполнение - великолепно. Это Америка. Мое почтение из России
So many different versions of this song The Animals Five Finger Death Punch this by far is a classic and so good, love the banjo. Keep making music it soothes the soul with it need it most
Absolutely everything that these guys touch turns into GOLD. Not that the original song wasn't a banger already, but still...
Original Song by LeadBelly!
Banger? LMAO
@pirateredbeard3383 actually, nobody knows who wrote it! Thats part of its beauty of a lot of folk music, it's nearly impossible to trace it back to its origin!
The original was gold. This is crap.
So many versions of this song before The Animals made it huge. There are theories that the song could be as old as the 1500s
There are two reasons to do a cover. To pay tribute to the original or rock it and make it yours!!
You guys ROCKED IT!!
Got lucky enough to see them in concert. One of the best shows I’ve been to
The last concert we went to before the world went down the drain for two years. Was something to cling to all that time!
Same best concert ever
Saw them New Years night a few years back. Great great show!
Seen them twice now, better each time,I have got to go and see them again though. Such a brilliant band.
For a band with no electric guitar, no drum set, they fucking ROCK!!
That's bluegrass for you. :)
traditional music is at its best without electric. the only way technology can make it sound better is through speakers so every1 can hear it loud as F*#k.
It is OK, not my style. Prefer original.
They use a kick drum occasionally.
Mandolin is the percussion in a bluegrass man. Not that they’re technically bluegrass. But yeah
That banjo makes this whole song.. Love the sound of a banjo.
Imagine if it had cowbell
The mandolin is my favourite
You mean the mandolin in the foreground? The banjo is in the background.
I'm not normally a banjo fan but this dude is amazing, they are such a creative band
@@paulsimpson3113 You mean the man in the foreground?
He plays the mandolin.
Best cover of this song I've ever heard, and I'm 63😍

I loved it, but for a minute there I jumped sky high right after the first part which was so mellow and suddenly ...BOOM! LOL
I know right, I cranked the volume since I thought there was something wrong with the audio for the recording, the yeah, BOOM! Excellent cover though!
Same. I had to go back. Him picking up the guitar pick makes sense now. 😂

Best "House of the Rising Sun" cover I have EVER heard!!!
The Animals didn't write this, it's an old traditional song. I'm just being difficult, I know their cover is based on the version the Animals did, haha
I always preferred the Joan Baez version over the Animals
This seems like a good blend of the two
This is actually one of the few songs they can't fully trace it back! They aren't sure where it originated, but some think it goes back to the late 1700s

Wow that statement is factually accurate the animals version is still the best

is that a different guy on stand up bass?
I did a double take too, anyone know if it's a band member change or a sub?
Not sure about that, but I can say that he's got a Cello and a beautiful one at that. :) Wish I still had mine!

I think it's same guy, different haircut.
He does look lighter in this vid. But ear and eyebrows look the same. Same cello also, I think. Hope he's not going all Michael Jackson on us.
