It's real quiet here
Just the way I like it here

When I was a young man

Oh, I put down these rails as a
CPR man
Thought I'd live forever
With my heart in my pocket
Oh, my gun by my side
And my feelings in a locket
Well, that was a cold year in '77
But I married my wife
We had two kids
I gave her a daughter
She gave me a son
And we rode those damn horses 'til we had none
Fist still like flyin'
Doing things for dyin'
Oh, I should have put that old gun away
Well I, I am a broken Cowboy
And I don't feel right no more
'Cause I am a broken Cowboy
Livin' life in the fast lane
Racing cars and robbing trains
I thought I had it all
Then one day, I got the call
A father's worst dream
My son went down and I
The colours deceive me
As I see grey
Oh, you're cutting me down with those
Cold words you're saying
Then you called me, brother
But this can't be so, 'cause you
Slander my name, anywhere the wind will blow
Well, I am a broken cowboy
And I don't feel right no more
'Cause I am a broken cowboy
Yes, I am a broken cowboy

im still in my honeymoon phase with this song, i play it at least twice a day when I have the time, and it's been months since I found it
I like seeing the original group back!!
When I hear this , I can actually feel the wind in my cheek as I ride into a cattle town in the American frontier in the 19th century. It feels old, romantic and melancholy
LoL Nice
And they're Canadian
The lyrics, music, and performance of this song is just genius. Simply outstanding
It's been a long, dark, dirty road
But a pocket full of gold
And I've been out here now
All on my own
Well it's real quiet here
Just the way I like it here
There's no one to bother me
Except
Well, in 1955, born into Wadena's pride
I laid my head on that
Milligan creek bed
When I was a young man
I helped build this land
Oh I, put down these rails as a
CPR man
Thought I'd live forever
With my heart in my pocket
Oh, my gun by my side
And my feelings in a locket
Well, that was a cold year in '77
But I married my wife
We had 2 kids
I gave her a daughter
She gave me a son
And oh, we rode those damn horses until we had none
Fists still like flyin'
Doing things for dyin'
Oh, I should have put that old gun away
But I, I am a broken cowboy
And I don't feel right no more
'Cause I am a broken cowboy
Livin' life in the fast lane
Racing cars and robbing trains
I thought I had it all
Then one day I got the call
A father's worst dream
My son went down and I
The colors deceive me
As I see grey
Oh, you're cutting me down with those
Cold words you're saying
Then you called me brother
But this can't be so cause you
Slander my name anywhere the wind will blow, oh
But I, I am a broken cowboy
And I don't feel right no more
'Cause I am a broken cowboy
Yes, I am a broken cowboy
It's been a long dark dirty road
But a pocket full of gold
And I've been out here now
All on my own
Well it's real quiet here
Just the way I like it here
There's no one to bother me
Except that old taunting tree
Im in love
Thanks for the lyrics 😎. Prec🤯
@@stacyscore8234 it's a pleasure!
Now I just want to make a Fallout New Vegas mod for the Rocky Mountains just so this can be the soundtrack.
thank you. thank you thank you
This song even made it to Denmark. Completely unknown band over here, but they are fantastic. What a song, what voice. And it's not their only masterpiece
As I am arrived in Texas, I fall in love with dead south. I know they are Canadians.
I'm 17 and I like all sorts of music but country/ the dead south at the moment just can't beat. You guys are so underated
Nose como he soportado estos 25 años de mi vida sin escuchar este grupo
Listen to Lost Dog Street Band playing September Doves. While listening to this band I came to find LDSB. Their sound is amazing too!
I'm 74, been a lawman for 25yrs, truck driver for another 17yrs, raised & broke horses down in S. Texas. My son, Ian turned me onto these guys a couple years ago and I love 'em!
the bow on the cello with the mandolin sounds so great.
I've been listening to them for years on here, the music (and a lot of the funky videos) are marvelous...
grabs the heart with a squeeze of delight. So refreshing; so different; so honest
I rarely go to live shows but if I ever get the change they are on my bucket list.
Saw them Live a couple of year ago in Glasgow, get that bucket list ticked, they were awesome
The Dead South are so very talented! Keep going guys! Bring us some more!
I can hear this over and over, really
like it
The ghost of Johnny Cash is watching from Heaven, with a smile on his face.
I’ll drink to that 😉
Yes he is brother
Or hell i suspect he sold his soul
I was thinking that too…
@@dermotpurcell8861 maybe that's what they mean when said that in Hell we'll be in Hood Company! :)
I SOOO have this song on repeat... just awesome!!!!!!!
I still can't stop watching. Poetry, music, performance. Just about perfect.
Brawo Panowie, Piękna Piosenka, ważny tekst. Narprawdę.
O tak 😉 Ballada dekady
God these lyrics are so good, and the emotional delivery just heightens them so much. As someone who's been very suicidal in the past, "that old taunting tree" is absolutely fucking HAUNTING.
I got the same feeling. It's as if there was a noose on one of the branches
Perfect music. I could listen to them every day for the rest of my life. Which is probably gonna happen.
This is my favorite song by The Dead South and I finally got to hear it live last night in Toronto. Sung my heart out. Amazing night. Amazing band.
I'm super happy for you that you got to do this!
I too consider this my favorite song from them.
The raw power of emotion that this song elicits in me, and the trip it takes me on, is just unbelievable.
It's absolutely hypnotizing.
I hope one day to see them live as well.
Thanks for sharing your experience friend!
@@King_WhiteWolf Thank you! Hypnotizing is a great way to describe this song. I hope you'll get a chance soon to see them live. :)
hello !
Je suis français. Je découvre ce groupe. J'adore. C'est juste sublime. Cà dégage plein d'émotion.
I ran across The Dead South by accident. Now I am hooked. This is my style of music
If you love them like I do...check out trampled by turtles, weary boys, Lucero especially...I can give other examples...good music is not dead
Got tickets for one of their concerts!!! In less than two months! I'm gonna hear this song live!
Lucky shit
Wtf 😳
Saw them in Houston awhile back, was amazing.
What did you think? Saw them last week. So fucking good!
Been following these guys for the last 2 years, incredible heart felt music from the sole, he puts everything into it when he sings, they really came together this last year.
