- Catching a HUGE pike has always been high up on my bucket list but there's a problem... I'm terrible when it comes to catching them!
This winter I have set myself the task to catch my first ever 20lb pike and I'm going to be bringing you all along with me on the journey! I'll be mainly fishing in the Lake District but I'll also be venturing further afield as the season progresses, meeting up with some familiar faces and even crossing the border into Scotland!

Try live bait on a heavy quiver tip. Simple running ledger. 4.oz weight to a single treble nicked through behind dorsal fin. I have a light quiver catching silvers and pop one on the heavy. Strike as soon as you see the bite. Usually the pike has the whole bait in the mouth never lost a fish using this technique and has added to the 49 pike ive had since the start of october. Also short lure sessions on the river at the end of the day into dark usually produces fish. Although fishing has slowed up a bit on the river due to flooding.
Fishing trips with beautiful views and destinations with lots of fish are very exciting.

One tip, use a large flat bottomed block end feeder instead of a bomb and fill the feeder with chopped up fish! Maximum attraction. Tight lines.

I understand the pain of losing the fish due to striking early, don't worry, happens to most of pike anglers who struck early because worried of deep hooking. I have tried Offset Circle Hook and it's always 9 out of 10 hooked into the scissor, you could give these hooks a try and don't have to panic over deep hooking 😉

Where do you park whilst fishing that peg on grasmere ?, do you go over the footbridge or is there somwhere closer ?

Hi mate, hope you’re well? 👊🏼 glad you enjoyed the vid! The first venue was grasmere but the second venue was a private lake and I’m not sure if the owner would like it named as he likes to keep numbers low in the lake 🎣
