Im really loving these Vlogs. For someone who admires you as much as I do, it's just the best to follow your day to day life, aswell as your crazy adventures. You make my day every time i see an upload from you. Thanks for everything you do, Carl. Happy New Year
Hope your koi are okay now. With a catastrophic filter problem the bacteria take a while to fully colonise the media again, plenty of partial water changes will help 👍You were doing the right thing by aerating the pond. Hope to hear a positive update soon buddy 🙂
Carl you really need to stop all canned drinks, stick yo plain water, tea is ok. Also drink cranberry juice this will help your kidneys, I hope you had a good Christmas I've been in and out if hospital with hypothermia, turns out I've got glandular fever I've never been so Ill, I want to go fishing so badly. Please keep hydrated, you need more fluids than most people due to your height, I hope 2024 is a good year for you and ommi, I'm going to be watching your videos as I cant go fishing.
Hey Sean, hope you’re getting better pal. I’d love to learn more of the fishing tactics others have acquired over the years, I’m super keen, I’ve been fishing over North London but would love to explore further afield!
Had Kidney stones for 12 years and passed over 20+, can confirm the urban myth of cranberry juice etc doesnt work :) Sugary drinks do help and also sticking to water, although its no fun when its only water. I found just increasing my fluid intake and avoiding hard water (we live in a heavy calcium water area) helps reduce it. Sadly though, if you have had 1 kidney stone you are prone to getting them and no matter what you try they will still occur, just increase fluid intake. If you are weeing more its working! You pass them more frequently and they are so small you dont know they are passing. Biggest I had was 9mm and put me in hospital for a week :( mostly now largest ive seen is 3-4mm.
Was going to say I’m no expert as never had them, but I heard tap water is actually really bad for them. So guess it is the hard water aden is on about. I heard that it’s better if you get one of them filter jugs. So Karl needs a new filter for his and his fishes water. Anyway hope you feel better Sean.
Nooo! Hope the koi are sorted soon! I love your pond and fish and watched the pond build so many times! Fingers crossed! Hope you’re also feeling better and on the mend asap! Happy new year to you and the family!
Thanks for all your uploads mate and happy 2024. At this time of year I usually stop watching fishing content on UA-cam (just makes me sad as I’m living in a place where it’s too cold for overnighters until sometime in April) but when you post something I always watch it anyway and enjoy it immensely. Keep up the good work!
Have you tested the water on the pond Carl, white on fish is response to poor water conditions, you may need to do several water changes over several days to dilute the amonia and nitrite levels, great video by the way, hope you get the pond sorted
Loving the videos as always carl! top quality as always mate just excellent work, all the best to you and your family this new years and hope the Koi recover fast for you mate ya a knowledge sponge man you got the best chances to get them fully recovered in no time as ya got the passion and dedication. I have been watching since I was a match fisherman of like 14 at the time it was well over 12 years back now surely. I remember the first video I watched was when you an carl where both young lads must not of been older than 13-14 yourselves. Just seeing how your channel has grown and how much yous blossomed of as human beings and the awesome lives yous both lead im just made up to of seen it all grow from the ground up now I am a farther myself I cant wait to get my kids fishing and try and be as good as an example as ya parents must of been :D thank you to you for putting the work in week after week to provide phenomenal content whilst working and travelling through the struggles of life if ya ever feel down remember there's a a thousand of all here on this channel that too have been through mental struggle right with you and we appreciate you as ya give us a break and hope for the future with your content ) all the best Carl, HAPPY NEW YEAR! :D keep smashing life mate, Tight lines.
I am not a DR, but I also suffer from chronic kidney stones (or should I say used to) The doc checked my Uric Acid level. I was off the charts now on a scribe of allopurinol and no more stones! Tight lines.
Great video Carl 👍 Hope you get the pond and fish sorted out. Might be worth putting a couple of cameras around the pond so that you can check on it remotely. Hope you're well.
Thanks man! Yep I've got some cameras so I can check on the fish remotely, been a great help having that :) just need to get the app working that lets me know if the pond motor etc fails
How’s the fish doing? That single bag of salt won’t be nearly enough.. i don’t think it would even get to 0.3%. I would be scraping for Whitespot immediately, and if it’s is you can’t use FMG as you have put salt in the pond. Alparex is your only option but you would need your kh to be at 5 or more. Here if you need me 📞
Hi Carl. I suspect I have Covid and I have been feeling like a dog for the last 5 days, and after I watched this video along with a cup of tea it made me feel alot better. Thanks for the great content
Great video Carl, hope that you managed to sort the pond out and the fish are ok. It’s heartbreaking when things like this happen. I used to keep tropical fish and had two crashes in my tanks where I lost the lot. Hope all is ok?
When you keep koi, also become comfortable with a Microscope, taking scrapes from Koi is a part of keeping them , it is simple and very important to know what you are trying to treat. A scrape will tell you what you have to treat a lot of the time. It certainly looks like your water quality has gone off, but that in itself could bring out a secondary reaction from the fish, Hope you get it sorted soon, they are lovely looking fish.....
Thanks Alec :) yeah I usually do, but I was away when the motor broke unfortunately which made the pump run dry for too long, killing the good bacteria. The fish vet came while I was away and did the scrapes - thankfully no parasites. It was just the after effects of poor water quality causing their discomfort.
Happy New Year Carl to you and your family. Carl im sorry about your Koi , by the sounds of it the way you said that at the end of the video things didn't go to plan. I really hope you have things sorted by now . I know this vlog was recorded ages ago so at this moment i hope everything is back running normal now.
🤞🤞🤞 for all your little fishy friends! Was it 2017 the Res campaign? Blimey that's 6 years minimum I've been watching your videos 😎😄 Oh and Happy New Year to you and yours! 🙃
I had a disaster on Boxing Day when my aquarium burst a seam. I quickly got a replacement tank, but sadly lost my two Synodontis. Heartbroken. Hope the koi have picked up ? Ammonia is devastating. 😢 Happy New Year Carl & Omi 👍🏼
Ohhh nooo :( so sorry to hear that. I feel your pain - this happened to me when I was a kid. It's gutting. Yeah the koi are doing so much better, thank you mate. Very relieved. All the best to you too :)
I recently saved a few koi in a neglected pond in my neighbourhood. All the fish looked like yours do. After testing the water, the ammonia levels were off the charts and we believed the condition to be ammonia burn.(your fish may have something different of course) big water change and I'm sure they will be OK 🙏
Hi Carl, great video really enjoyed this, my goodness you sure have some adventures, anyway all the best mate, and have an amazing new year, be well be safe, catch you later.
Water changes on the pond and add beneficial bacteria to kick start the filter salt will help a lot and also increase in temperature if you can Oh and bacon is not red meat but i wouldn't mention that to Omi as no one needs a deadly dose of cold shoulder at this time of year 😉
Hope the fish are good Carl. Regarding your stones, as someone who has passed a few and a sufferer of chronic bladder infections i would advise that hydration is key, lots and lots of water will help, even between other drinks, a regular person should be doing 2 litres a day minimum, folk like you and me with a chronic condition should aim for 3 litres (easier said than done). I've heard lemon juice can help, but cant confirm that, steer clear of cranberry juice though, great for infections, as it creates an environment in your urine that is inhospitable to the bacteria, but I've been told it can actually encourage stones. If you haven't seen a GP about your recurring stones please do 👍
Thanks Rob, I ended up seeing a Urologist and turns out the pain is in the wrong place to be kidney stones, and I have none the usually related symptoms. So now I actually have no idea what is causing it! They're looking into it though :)
Carl we need to start a fundraising campaign to get you an electric barrow for that res hill lol 😂😂 God I hope the fish are OK that would send my anxiety through the roof! Hope they are doing OK now!? Love the vlog keep them coming (as long as you have time that is). Happy new year excited for your 2024 adventures!
Glad you're enjoying them! Thanks man, doing much better, it turns out it may not be kidney stones as the pain is in the wrong place. They're trying to figure out what else it could be.
Hope your koi are ok and hope you catch more fish in the future and I have good news I am buying new camera gear like a GoPro and accessories for it including and new bag and a vertical camera stand for when I do videos on how to and well that’s it but anyway without you I would of never started a channel and I wouldn’t be where I am so all my thanks to you and remember Tight lines! Great video on fishing, My Heart goes out to you hearing about your kidney stone. i use to suffer a great deal with them, but i did find a solution, i moved away from mid sussex, i lived in haywards heath, iany way i moved to cornwall, the water is softer, been here for 18 yrs now and not had 1 attack since, when in sussex i was in and out of princess royal every 2-3 months with stones, Sussex does have the highest count for kidny stones.
I recently saw a urologist who said the pain I'm getting is actually in the wrong place to be kidney stones, and the CT scan didn't actually show up any stones. Turns out the hospital misdiagnosed it. I don't drink alcohol or energy drinks which makes sense now! They're looking into whether is gastro or pancreatitus related.
HELP, an Aussie here requesting aid. Does anyone know of any tackle stores in the UK or Europe that’ll ship to Australia? Keen to get my hands on a rod pod with bite alarms and they are unheard of over here! And am enjoying this third channel Carl, keep them coming mate 🤙🏼
Hopefully you are ok and also the koi btw what do i do if i want to catch a carp for the life of me i can only catch little 4 pounder silver fish pls i need help
I used to keep my kidney stones as trophies Mud is fun !!in summer Mud is not fun !!..in the cold.... Koi have got white spot I think...filtration is super important with such fishes.. You can get stuff to treat it. Best to catch these things in early stages....
Unfortunately since Brexit we've not been able to ship to the EU commercially due customs issues. We've found a way and are working on it though! Should be able to ship to the EU later this year :)
If you want to reduce the kidney stones drink cranberry juice, Personally I can't stand the taste but I hear it actually works. Also, I hope you get your fish "Pond" fixed and the fish back to health and happiness. Happy new year mate.
Correct Carl, whenever I go fishing I take my litter with me and other peoples in the direct vicinity. Fishermen who leave their litter are NOT true fishermen. Love your channel Carl, thank you 👍
Kidney stones SUCK! It is the only time i have seen my dad cry! He was the guinea pig for sending radio waves through your body to shatter the staghorn kidney stones, he has had well over 20. I vowed i would do my best to not get them! I hope you are well and ok now! They are caused by oxalate which is found in dark green vegetables, chocolate, dark sodas, and tea.
Eyup mate I'm not a clever man. But I get gout I'm not a stressful fella but at times of stress I get gout .I think kidney stones is up there with gout 😢you have my deepest sympathy 😢
Thanks Paul, stress may be contributing factor for sure. I've found out recently though from a Urologist that it may not be stones!? They didn't actually see any one the CT. And the pain is not near the kidney. Got to work out what it actually is now!
Foods and especially sodas energy drinks as well as alcohol I quit all that stuff except alcohol lol. Mostly water and 1 glass worth of cranberry juice. FYI not a stardard snack lol your mate is feeding what his standard is 😂
I recently saw a urologist who said the pain I'm getting is actually in the wrong place to be kidney stones, and the CT scan didn't actually show up any stones. Turns out the hospital misdiagnosed it. I don't drink alcohol or energy drinks which makes sense now! They're looking into whether is gastro or pancreatitus related.
Good to hear mate sorry they misdiagnosed you it sucks. I have abdominal pain that no one has been able to figure out some days although not often the pain it debilitating. I feel for hopefully they get it sorted my roommate deals with kidney stones have had to take him to hospital a couple times.
Sorry to hear that mate, it is debilitating. I'm discovering that mine may actually be related more to stress and my guts response to this as I've had very bad gerd too while stressed etc. There's now more and more research into the gut and relationship to stress, IBS etc. So right now this seems more plausible as there are no other significant physical symptoms which link to anything else. Random pain is very frustrating and very mysterious!
@@more_fishwithcarl Feel like it may be the same for me stress been having a rough couple years trying to financially recover from covid and my daughters wedding. Stress is debilitating in itself sometimes but adding stuff like this gonna need a stress reliever lol I try to get to fish but it always falls apart I get to the range when I can for some target practice that helps.
should of dropped minimum 30% water out the pond and slowly filled back up with hose ,then repeat 4 days later ...add some bacterial additive ....,also thats not enough salt in that size pond
As a koi keeper it’s devastating to see a top spec pond go like this. Your first investigations should have been water tests and scrapes. Koi don’t develop issues like these overnight. I suspect you have not been vigilant or kept up with pond maintenance.
Yes it's hard when this happens. It was was actually a broken motor issue, and for it to break again while I was away meant I could not manually flush the drum to fill the pump back up to stop it running dry. Thankfully The Pond Pro came and replaced the motor and now water quality is improving after regular water changes, the good bacteria is recolonising. The fish vet did all of the scrapes and tests while I was away, thankfully no parasites. All is well since, and the new motor is working as it should :)
Mind blowing to see how much happier and chilled out you are now it’s nice to see your enjoying it more than seeing it as job!
Thanks dude! It means a lot to know you've noticed the improvement!! I am indeed much happier! :)
Fingers crossed your fish make a full recovery, Carl! All the best for 2024, mate. Can't wait to see what you get up to.
Thanks mate, appreciate that! Happy new year 👍

Great something good to watch again . Nice one Carl
I can't imagine how painful stones are, typical that it flares up you're away. Brilliant video as always.
I would suggest getting some live cameras fitted next to the pond to stop things like this happening?

HELP, an Aussie here requesting aid. Does anyone know of any tackle stores in the UK or Europe that’ll ship to Australia? Keen to get my hands on a rod pod with bite alarms and they are unheard of over here!
And am enjoying this third channel Carl, keep them coming mate 🤙🏼
If u buy of ebay they deal with the international shipping now I believe

Cheers!

Hey carl, is it possible for us to see the photos you take through the trips, organised preferably
Hi mate, I post all my photos on Facebook and instagram both accounts are called ‘Fish With Carl’
I used to keep my kidney stones as trophies
Mud is fun !!in summer
Mud is not fun !!..in the cold....
Koi have got white spot I think...filtration is super important with such fishes..
You can get stuff to treat it. Best to catch these things in early stages....
Hello, is it possbile to buy your merch from Denmark. Love your videos :)
How are the fish now Carl?
Much better thank you mate :)
crazy but good video, are you coming to carp den bosch 2024?
Thanks mate! No, we're not able to unfortunately.
Hi Carl😃
Hi mate :)
That’s not fishing that’s being sheeped up 😂😂😂
That reservoir, is it a public lake or you need a ticket ?
It's on an annual ticket :)
How are your fish doing
Much better, thanks Glyn :) will be an update in the next vlog
Kidney stones in your 20s! That's mad Carl, I feel for ya. Definitely lay off the tap water if you don't already!

I'm surprised you don't have a power-barrow...
I hope to soon!!
You listen to the best music. #refusdosol

should of dropped minimum 30% water out the pond and slowly filled back up with hose ,then repeat 4 days later ...add some bacterial additive ....,also thats not enough salt in that size pond
Yep did water changes and added good bacteria :) the pond is doing much better. The motor is fixed and water quality is improving.
I'm dying to know where the res is....I know its angling secrets but I won't tell no one😁😉
If you can't get any active media im happy to swap some ive got same filter media nice and mature and can swap 50% of it out
As a koi keeper it’s devastating to see a top spec pond go like this.
All is well since, and the new motor is working as it should :)
i had kidney stones 10 years ago. Has your doctor not recommended getting shock wave lithotripsy?
The carp are loosing there slime coat due to lack of beneficial bacteria, melafix and salt should do it over time
