- In this video, I take my 2007 BMW 328i (E92) coupe back to the dyno to get the horsepower and torque numbers following the installation of the 3-stage intake manifold and the AA headers to see what the net gain was.

The 328i sounds INSANE with a supercharger and headers. I just bought a 128i and a ESS supercharger.
This is great! I've got a very similar setup sitting on a shelf. AA headers, 3 stage manifold, and a tuner on speed dial. Very excited to see how it'll drive. 6 speed manual here too!

Numbers on my car we're almost exactly what you got. Stock 328i 6mt 70k miles. I was very happy with the results. It feels a little quicker to me in the low rpm range but it's minor. Above 3500 it's noticeably stronger. The car always felt very strong accelerating from like 70-80mph to 100+ but it pulls much harder now. Haven't noticed any difference in fuel mileage.

Thanks, buddy. I definitely wanted to record this video series the right way using objective data. When I was thinking about doing this mod, I checked out different videos on UA-cam and just was not able to find an objective before and after to show the impact of the gains. Now we know. A lot of people told me not to do the mod because it was expensive and would not have resulted in huge gains, but I am so glad I did.
great work! It really means something when someone dyno's before and after! Most people do it after or on a different dyno and their results are nearly meaningless. I did the 330i mod to my 2011 328i and its like a new car.

Thanks for your comment, bro. I love the silver color. So easy to take care of, and the car looks so classy. You probably won't have the same output in the N52b25 due to smaller displacement, but I am not 100% sure. In the U.S., we only got the 3.0 liter in the E9# series. Keep me posted on what you decide to do.

There’s no way a N/A N52 is doing 300HP. It’ll do 280HP at best and that’s if you have headers, stage 3 intake and a tune.
I have all of those three mods. According to a conservative dyno machine, the car is producing 269 hp. Thanks for your comment!

Here are the official numbers:
HP - 269 horsepower on a conservative dyno; applying an additional 20% increase as stated by the dyno shop brings you to 323 horsepower. The midpoint of the range is 296 horsepower.
Torque - 237.5 pound foot of torque on a conservative dyno; applying an additional 20% increase as stated by the dyno shop brings you to 285 pound foot of torque. The midpoint of the range is 261 pound foot of torque.
My car is RWD with a manual transmission.
I hope this helps! You can tell a difference behind the wheel, especially at above 4,000 RPM. Keep me posted on what you decide to do.

I'm a little confused by the math here. How did you come to 323 hp?
I thought the dyno measured the car at 229 whp? Accounting for drive train loss, you're adding how much?
Your math is hilarious! Over 300hp from 3 stage manifold and AA headers mods. If you talk a little faster, it might add up to 400hp 😂
The mods resulted in a gain of 30 wheel horsepower. BMW is known for officially underestimating the horsepower of its vehicles. When the E9# 328i first came out, even though it was rated at 230 hp, there were articles written about the car actually producing closer to 260 hp stock. Same case for the 2007 BMW 335i which was officially rated at 300 hp but was producing closer to 330 hp. So the discussion really centers more about what the true horsepower could be assuming BMW official figures were conservative, which they almost always are. But if you want to know what the impact of the mod was for my car in particular, it was slightly less than 30 hp at the wheels. Thank you.
@@GogoMotoring but its not producing 260 stock,...they make 201whp stock which is about 230 flywheel .. it makes zero sense that this is making 260 hp stock if it makes 200whp stock...30whp is a wonderful gain however, hope all is well
@@RingerRacing According to the dyno shop owner, their dyno machine shows more conservative dyno numbers than a dynojet (sp?) machine, which is apparently the most commonly used one. The dyno shop owner said to apply an additional 15% increase to the displayed numbers to arrive at what the numbers would be on a dynojet machine. Just sharing what I was told. Have a good one.

If you think your tuned n52 produces 300hp, try to do a drag race against a stock 135i (300hp) and let us know the results. I have an n51 128i with AA headers and Stage FP nice. The gain is nice. But it’s no where near 300hp or even 290hp. I know n51 has slightly lower compression which runs about 8-10 hp less than an n52 with the same mods. My butt dyno estimates 30hp gain which puts it right around 260. With your mods, I think yours is around 270hp top. Get a dyno done to and let us know your whp.

@@NovieBigSad You probably would need at a minimum the 3-stage intake manifold, which I believe results in a bigger power increase than the AA headers. The N51 engine that was in the 2006 BMW 330i, which produced 255 horsepower stock, had the 3-stage intake manifold. When the 328i was released with the N52 engine, the 3 stage intake manifold was replaced with the single stage intake manifold, which in turn resulted in the stock horsepower decreasing to 230 horsepower. Conservatively, my car is now producing between 265 and 275 horsepower. Assuming the 3-stage intake manifold brought the horsepower up to the stock 330i numbers, i.e., a 25 horsepower increase, you could assume that the headers produced between an additional 10 - 20 horsepower. Does this answer your question?
To do the mod properly, you should install a 3 stage intake manifold and the AA headers and get a tune optimized to maximize the power with these mods. If you had to just pick one, I would go with the 3 stage intake manifold with a tune because the AA headers can cause some issues when the car is at idle as shown in my latest video.

Stay tuned. Haven't had any issues so far other than the rev counter hunting for RPMs at idle sometimes. I made a video about it. It's really just annoying more than anything else.

you only gained around 25hp? the 3 stage intake manifold alone should of increased it by 30hp and 9 whp more with the aa headers
were your disa valves in good condition?
30 wheel horsepower gain. The disa valves were in good condition. That's probably a 45 horsepower gain at the crank.

It’s so dissapointing that stock it only produces 200 hp instead of the specified 218
That’s 200 hp at the wheels, which means that it was producing at least 230 hp at the engine when it was stock. You lose power as it travels from the engine to the wheels.
Set your timing back, that's make a different
Resetting the adaptions fixed some of the idling issues I had.
I just switched to the 3im and the car is still slow af

You can get to 300hp with headers, tune, intake . . . and MILVs.
I have the headers, tune, and intake, but not the MILVs. Nice upgrade to the car!
