There is a mod called MILV's which stands for modified intake lift valves, and it goes underneath the springs in the valvetronic to increase valve lift from 9.9mm to 11mm I believe. This means about 10 to 15 wheel hp gains. This is a pretty popular mod that goes a long way in increasing n52 power. Great video, super helpful with straightforward content 👍👍
Yeah the milvs give more intake valve lift. Simply car things don't worry will tell you all the secrets because we are family now. Lol. Oh did you know the icing on the cake is not the engine tune but to supercharged it to 300+ whp with the ess kit.😁 also the n54 manifold swap has more torque than the 330i and flows more on the top end too. So it's a popular option. The thing about the 3 stage is the disa valves are not that reliable.
I remember the MILVS being a thing on bimmerpost awhile ago, was always debating it but figured it wasn’t worth it to try and pull power from the N52. If someone is going to install the MILVS and hasn’t messed with their car before, take it somewhere lol I hate getting cars in that someone tried to do something themselves only to where I have to work on a mess they made that would have been done right if they took it to someone who knew what they were doing. It’s a simple install but when some people can hardly do their brakes, I don’t have much faith in the majority of people do do MILVS
A lot of people can start by making sure their 2 or 3-stage manifold actually works. Most of the time after 100000 the Disa valve get's stuck (actually oil getting into it's motor and it becomes "weak") and no longer closes which reduces power at lower RPS (because DISAs are designed to be CLOSED by default and only opening at certain RPM) and no error ever tell the owner about it. As for mods - most of european versions already have it including 3-stage and different air intake/filter so one can find used EU car/parts to retrofit it.
I have a 125i (EU Spec) in Argentina that I use as a track car. I started out with the 218hp, mapped to 130i spec, to the alleged 265/272hp Bimmerlabs maps. I have the "euro intake" and DISA valves from factory, I added a Turner Silicone Hose and BMC filter to make the intake a bit more free flowing, and then bought the MILVS kit and had Jim at Kassel Performance do a remote tune. We probably did 40/50 dyno runs, he was very helpful to get the straightest possible torque curve as there was a dip at about 3.5k. We managed 233whp without headers. That's why I said allegedly 265hp... I now have custom race headers and full exhaust as its now a dedicated track car. I'll dyno the car soon, and then play with the compression ratio by modifying the head gasket. We'll see what is pulls, but gaining 70whp reallistically isn't that easy in N52's. An ESS supercharger adds another 70whp but I don't think its worth the 5/6k plus labor costs.
I run an N52 in my e86 endurance car and these upgrades with the correct tune is about 258 whp. I have tested EPIC motorsports, Activewerks and Kassel Performances tune and Kassel's was the most aggressive to get to the max number with an average delivering 255 whp, Epic's is a more conservative and better for daily driving and Activewerks was the latter delivering more power in the lower and less at the top end. If you really want to put the power down, I would suggest upgrading the differential gearing ratio to 3.73 and a light weight flywheel for maximum performance.

Other than some N53 cars that all run 3,0l engines but 218hp 325i has no three stage intake. And add all other kinds of BMWs (E60, Z4, 6, 7 series etc) between 2004 and 2012...

Ran across ur video randomly, always happy to see n52 videos. Have u seen any turbo n52 build's? Engine is safe up to about 25 psi, made like 560hp at like 19 psi, 450 at 15, all stock internals. N52s are definitely capable of big power.
I know what your talking about. That engine did not handle 25 psi for long, the connecting rod failed and the engine blew. At 19 psi is where the owner advised that you need head studs because the head was starting to lif up from the block. So please dont exaggerate the facts and tell people the n52 will run 25 psi like it's a beast. There's a limit to everything. Anyways I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it , just telling the facts. To run that pressure you need upgraded head studs head gasket and stronger rods and pinstons.
This is a great video and very informative. However, 70+ hp gains on these cars especially the n51 is impossible with these mods. The three stage manifold will require a tune (for DISA) for you to be able to harness the full potential of the manifold. Putting on the manifold is half of the mod- the other half being the tuning. Catless headers and a good tune will help with “power” gains but it’s usually very small like 5hp. Intake mods usually end up LOWERING your HP and TQ figures. That being said, if you do the manifold and tune, headers, exhaust, and approved intake, you MIGHT have gains of about 12-15 hp if you’re lucky. I’m sorry, guys. The best way to gain hp is to go 335i or turbo the n52. This is coming from a dude that’s had 3 E90s FBO and a Euro Tech :) I’m not hating, just spreading the actual truth. For automatics, the BMS Power Box from Burger Tuning increases your throttle response and fuel/air mixture/ratio (supposedly) and will make it feel like it has more power. But fix your valve cover leaks and replace the water pump before ya try making it faster. Maintenance over mods!
Did you ever own a BMS power box? My E90 is my daily driver, but I wanted to add a little kick where I could. Also you have any experience in quality aftermarket brakes for the E90? Figured brakes would be the last "performance" oriented upgrade, despite it only being a street car
Nice, I just got a 3 stage intake manifold, gonna get that installed and tuned/remapped/flashed to get more power. Probably gonna get AA headers to add 20 more hp.
I'd no go the header route if you were thinking of procharging. Because the AFR gets extremely messed up and the companies producing the supercharger aren't able to make them work with the catless headers unfortunately.

Would these mods work on my 06 n52 525i e60?
n51 also has 10.0 compression ratio compared to n52s 10.7 which is why it has the 3 stage manifold and has lower power than the 330i n52
I have a 130i (n52) it has about 260bhp from stock I think. Is it worth putting a k&n panel filter on it do you think?
Yes i think it would be worth it!
Nice video! I am thinking about installing the 3-stage intake manifold for my E92 328i. I'll probably pull the trigger soon on it.
awesome man, should be a solid upgrade!
New subscriber. Good content
Hey man, can you tell me how I can make 325i 218hp to 330i 272hp? Name of the parts and the costs? All info because I didn't find anything in google.
cant believe im saying this, but after owning a 335i for almost two years, I want an n52 now lol.
You mean reliability?
@@blodquatsch yeah
LOL grateful i went with the n52 then
That’s what I’ve heard. Ironically my mechanic is always telling me to upgrade my 325i to a 335i, but I suspect he just wants more repair jobs 😆
I own both e92 335xi and 328xi. 328xi is great for daily and running around. Saves me miles for the weekend fun with the 335xi
Nice man, will this affect the reliability of the car in the long run?
I've had my headers, intake, exhaust, tune, and manifold for a few years. Relatively no issues
In all honesty it shouldn't!
More hp equals more fuel. Hasn't it been like that always?
@@L-Noble.YT_Hi.Res-Soundminds yes but right now the engine is just breathing better, it could even help the health of the engine honestly
Fueled is that the good one?
Just bought a 06 325i with 130k miles, it’s clean with no lights at all! Owner was a very old man who always had everything BMW maintained, when should I do my next oil change ? And what should I look out for !
oil chances shoulld be done every 6-7k kms driven. ask the previous owner when he did it
Ran across ur video randomly, always happy to see n52 videos.
Who said any of that? Believe I said up to 25 PSI, which is exactly what u just said....please don't put words in my mouth
You can maybe have like 6-7 psi safely
BMW specify 350hp maximum for N52, I think you mean N54.
If you ran 25psi, there'd be rods exiting the block.
How does the Manifold work on N52b25 (325i - 218ps/160kw) ? iam reading about it, and its 50/50 do/dont...
Thumbs up on the video btw. Love your content.
Did you ever own a BMS power box? My E90 is my daily driver, but I wanted to add a little kick where I could. Also you have any experience in quality aftermarket brakes for the E90? Figured brakes would be the last "performance" oriented upgrade, despite it only being a street car
Wrong but ok. There are several dyno charts out there for the n52 after Fbo. My n52 is Fbo with milvs and makes 268whp.
I’ve never seen someone be so uneducated about their own car. 😂
@@F32prodtells me I’m wrong then adds that he installed MILVS. Like bruh.
@@natejewett1 bpc has tuned the supercharger with headers fine.
Love this video and I checked under my hood of my 09 e90 and it said ULEV.😔 Mines a 6spd Manual too and I'm going to have to look into the 330i manifold.
Whats wrong with the ulev thats the n52 as in for me i have the sulev which is n51
@@justinbp6198 If I'm not mistaken, the SULEV has the three stage manifold in it already and just needs to be programmed to operate. The ULEV doesn't have the three stage manifold in it.😔
What size wheels are on that E90? Are they 17's?
The one in the thumbnail looks like the oem 335i rims which are 18s
@@epaminontas6972 They are 18s, but they are the '06 330i sport package wheels [style 162] which BMW carried over for only one year to the '07 335i
N52 are turbocharged right🤔
They are naturally aspirated 👍🏼
@@SimplyCarThings do u think I would fit in any bmw I’m 6”8
Does this work on the 523i 2011 F10?
Are these the same engines that are in the bmw 2006 530i E60 ??
Yes
130i - best car w/ N52 3.0
Much better intro man! You seem way more relaxed without asking how everyone’s doing lol 😂 love the channel!
Hey man been subscribed to you for awhile now I just got rid of my 11 135i and got a 15 228i can you suggest anything to me about like what I should to first?
Can much be done to lively up the 2.5 525i
Can I put the N 52 on my 07 328 I 4dr 3.0 ?
It comes with an n52
Is this more for just the e90 n52 or can this be done on the e60 as well?
How do I avoid breaking my therastat or water pump while thrashing the car I also service it every 5000 km
And take great care but I have had to replace 2 water pumps
I have a 328xi SULEV so I have the 3 stage intake manifold what else can I do to get power gains from it or should I just go FBO+tune from there
Catless headers, Custom exhaust, milvs, cold intake, ecu tune lastly thats all u could do
would u be able to have links to get the parts?
