    Glad I am not the only one that has done things like this. Forgot which car I was supposed to be working on and ordered parts for the other i.e. working on my wife's 2016 Mustang but ordered parts for my 67 instead. I swear it was an accident......

    Feel for ya Jeff... I had ordered 4 new wheels and 4 new tires for my just purchased F100. They came ups and I rushed them over to my local tire store to have em mounted and balanced. When I got home I pulled the nasty 22" off, grabbed a new wheel/tire, and found out the PO changed the bolt pattern on the truck from 5X5.5 to 5x4.5... 2 new rear axles (and new bearings and seals) and 2 new rotors later, I finally installed my new tire and wheel combo😉

      The Rancher line is the same bend up to the break point where it heads to the center mount tank. We got the line in and will be putting up the video on that next week I hope.

    Jeff, I understand your frustration! I'm almost surprised that there's no direct replacement for a Fairlane Wagon. I've seen Resto Parts for far more obscure Cars.... Like my 75 Chevy Monza I used to have, and was shocked at the Parts availability. Yes, it's derived from the Vega - but WHO wants to restore a VEGA!!??? 😲😖
    They're all Big Block Track Cars by now.
    MY big goof? Ordered a Crankshaft for a 72 Camaro with a 307 Engine...
    BUT - I actually ordered one for a 305!! 😖😠😠
    My big surprise was when I dropped the first Piston in, spun the Crank around, and that Piston POPPED OUT almost 7/16" ABOVE the Deck!!! 😭😠😭
    (307 uses a 283 Crankshaft, 305 uses one from a 350!)
    Of COURSE, I installed it and spun it... So I had to EAT that one.
    Hard Lessons!! 😞

    At least it's just a fuel line. I'm bad about ordering the wrong parts and then ordering more parts to make the wrong parts work anyway (that later also turn out to be wrong). I have the entire under-hood a/c setup for a Ford 223 6-cylinder truck...which I ordered for my 223-equipped CAR thinking I was smarter than VintageAir. They don't list the bracket as fitting cars because the car water pump blocks the compressor bracket. No problem, I bought a truck water pump, which required tapping and plugging a bypass hole in the block. But when I put the new water pump in, that moved the fan so it contacted the radiator. So I bought a smaller diameter fan, which was perfect until I mounted the compressor. The new small fan interfered with the compressor, so I bought slim Spal electric radiator fans. And after all that, the evaporator I bought wouldn't fit because I'd measured the dash space while holding the heater box up instead of actually mounting it. The only thing I could return was the evaporator. Oh and did I mention I bought an alternator for the bracket only to realize the VintageAir bracket for a Ford uses a GM-style alternator? Maybe someday I'll be able to use some of this stuff!

    If it's the right length you could make your own bends and double flanges if you have the right tools for stainless steel. Eastwood carries them. It's no fun at all but it can be done. Don't box it up, leave it straighten out and hang it in the garage somewhere until you can use it again. Yes I've ordered many parts I cannot use like a water pump for a HiPo and I only have a 2v 289. And double orders because I couldn't find the part in the box I put in the basement because I forgot. Oh well!

So now I have tank not sure what to do with it,I should have done more research.😱.I was lucky my 69 parts car had a fuel tank in great shape still had 20 year old gas in it and looked like new inside.I made my own fuel line and brake line. The bends were a challenge.

    It looks like you could rebend the end of the new fuel line to work. Admittedly it is a little difficult to tell from the video how much you would need to do, but I would think it would be cheaper and quicker to rebend it. Good luck, and the number of times I screwed up and ordered the wrong thing isn't worth dwelling upon. It happens, as car guys we just have to roll with it. Great job, and thanks for sharing even the mistakes. Great channel, look forward to every episode. BTW what did Cam decide to do with the Punisher?

    • @AutoRestoMod

    how easy (or difficult) is it to accidentally put a kink in the fuel line, destroying the tube? obviously you can't expect to bend it in half...but do you have to "take it easy" when you unbend the fuel line at all?

    • @AndrewWallacelive
      @AndrewWallacelive 4 роки тому +1

      Luckily it's pretty difficult to put a destruction kink in the tube when you're unbending it -- especially with the 3/8 stainless lines. They don't bend easily. I suppose if you really gorilla'd up on it you could do it, as long as you use your leg or another soft surface, you should be fine.
