    Incredible album. Arguably the band's most creative effort. Songs like And So I Know and Adhesive really showed the band's musical diversity.

    I like what Robert was saying. Scott's simplicity musically is what made STP what it was. If Scott was something else, they would have been a different band. Scott was special. His melodies, singing and lyrics gave the DeLeo brothers' music...life.

    An absolutely intriguing album. I really think they could've talked about the making of this album 5x more than any other albums of theirs. It's haunted. There's so much stuff going on in the background, like secret little audio bits, horse sounds, talking, digital glitch-like sounds, and of course the different rooms they recorded in. I used to listen to that album over and over trying to figure out what they were doing *beneath* the music.

      They toured that album during November-December ‘96 and then in the spring of ‘97 they played many dates in the U.S. which, strangely enough, recordings of those concerts are harder to find than the ‘96 tour.

    Big Bang Baby was a great video...I remember when it came out, and me and my friends were like "Man, this is the cheapest video I've ever seen, but it's great!", and this was the era when all the TV signals were analog to begin with, so add the analog CRT TV with an analog signal and you got a killer looking "lo fi" music video that's solid gold! It always reminded me of the way public access TV programs look...that kind of vibe.

    such a great album, and that trebly small-amp tone stood out a mile among all the heavily-compressed beef you heard in the 90s. people never gave STP a fair shake back in the day but they were/are fucking brilliant, doing for jazz what Led Zeppelin did for the blues 20+ years before. some of the most pungent chords you'll hear out of any short-form rock band.

    Tiny Music was a great record. Adhesive is the most beautiful ballad. Scott's vocals on that track are amazing. I think it is one of the most underrated songs ever. I feel bad for these guys when they are interviewed and talk about Scott. They all seem pretty level headed and appreciative of what they had and just wanted to make music. I love Scott but it must have been very, very stressful being in a band with him. They took a lot of "time outs" from touring and lost lots of money for him to get better and go to rehab but he just couldn't turn it around.

    Yea, the Big Bang Baby video was so weird when it released. I remember talking about at school with my friends, 6th grade. We all liked it though but yea, we all thought it was just super bizarre. It's aged incredibly well though. STP are far more creative than they often get credit for.

    Why are there snippets of dialogue in the beginning of each video that have nothing to do with the actual discussion?

  • @morganedwards3966
    @morganedwards3966 Рік тому

    The comment at the start of the video regarding Scott's physical transformation and him looking like two different people is most interesting... Because if you watch the music videos for "Big Bang Baby" and "Trippin' on a Hole," Scott doesn't look that different from how he did during the Core/Purple years. Yet in the video for "Lady Picture Show," he really does look like a completely different person. What's really interesting is that from the time of STP's breakout to his rehab stint in April 1996, Scott's natural hair-colour appeared to be a golden, almost ginger, blonde. Yet from the time of his return from rehab in November 1996 to his death, his natural hair-colour is clearly black. Or at the very least, significantly darker than what it was. Could Scott Weiland have been replaced by a look-alike? Or did the effects of kicking Heroin in 1996 change his appearance that dramatically? Adding more fuel to the first theory is how Scott opened STP's first show back, after his rehab stint, on November 4th 1996. ""Hey, you guys hear about the rumor that STP got a new singer?"
