Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
We've got a lifetime to share
So much to say and as we go from day to day
I'll feel you close to me
But time alone will tell
Let's take a lifetime to say
I knew you well
For only time will tell us so
And love may grow for all we know
Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
Let's take a lifetime to say
I knew you well
For only time will tell us so
And love may grow for all we know
I wish Karen loved herself, as much as we all loved her! 💓
I think she knows now ❤️
Once in a century we have the privilege to witness a Superstar
Our generation had that privilege
MS Karen Carpenter RIP (1950-1983 )
if the music is sickly sweet , her voice here is the best i have ever heard, i have never heard anything like it
Humanity was certainly in a better place back then.
She had a presence of God and I’m not a religious person but her voice is a sound of Angeles
What a beautiful voice. Still makes me cry.
best female vocalist simple
Period. Full stop ! ❤️🤩😢😭😭
She was falling apart for years in front of millions. Very tragic & sad.
Every time I hear Karen Carpenter sing it's like warm honey poured into my ear.
Oh such sweet honey at that !!!
For my money hands down, the best voice of all time!!
This beautiful lady, Karen had one but the world most amazing voice loved by many. There will never be another Karen. . R.I.P.❤️
My very favourite song🥺always think of my dear Mum when I hear this!! Miss you Mum🙏💔with all my ❤️
Holy flipping smoke! She had it.
She sure did ! ❤️🤩😢😭😭
The voice of a generation. So pure and so expressive. I grew up listening to Karen Carpenter. She was wonderful. R.I.P.
The voice of AM radio during the early seventies ! .. OMG Karen your voice was simply the greatest ! ❤️🤩😢😭😭
If only she knew how beautiful she really were as there beautiful angelic voice.
Connecticut’s greatest gift to the music industry.
my favourite carpenters song
Impossibly beautiful : the face, the voice, the song.... gives me chills to see this & wonder what could have been is she were just still here...... Karen, you were truly majestic.
There aren't enough words in the dictionary to describe how beautiful this video is.
You're right about that.
OH MY GOODNESS. . !! How beautiful she was, and that voice..
As Jim said. They had may great songs but this is my favorite. My god man, look how she is one with the song and then communicates the song to us. No one is better in pop music. It gives me chills also Jim and never fails to take me back to a different time.
GOAT.... We miss you Karen.
Absolutely live. No lip synch here.
dr hoo INDEED. This is INCREDIBLE ...
They used to do that now and then back then. The music track is recorded, but the vocal isn’t. Her voice is magic. They weren’t cool when I was a kid, but he could arrange and she could sing.
she is amazing, doesn't need lip synch :)
Beautiful voice, so talented.
This woman can sing very beautiful.
She was a true angel.
Awesome!
Beautiful!
I sang this song at our wedding accopello.
I adore the Carpenters.
Uniquely beautiful and. Talented beyond belief
One of the greatest Contralto Voices ever !!! ❤️❤️❤️🤩😢
Definitely
Goosebumps every time I hear Karen sing...
I can't begin to describe how great was Karen's voice. Many years ago I saw her live in concert and will always cherish that memory.
I saw her in 1981, she was amazing. 😍
Today is Feb 4, 2021...38 years ago today, we lost Karen. I remember very well when it happened, and I'm still sad about it. Rest in peace, young lady. You are truly missed, and you always will be.
Love you, Karen.....🌹
Voice of an angel
Completely effortless! My favorite of theirs.
So good it hurts
Un Angel muy bello, esta hermosura
I played this for many weddings in the past 45 years.
If only I could have met her to tell her just how beautiful and gifted she was...was she loved and praised enough..would that have saved her life!??
She had such a unique alto voice of such riches and colours, which peirces the Heart and Soul,RIP,tcxxxx
For All We Know is now 50 years young now and it only gets better with time like a fine wine. ❤️🤩😢😭😭
It's hard to fathom how great her voice was. She was God sent like Elvis. We only get to see a very few angels that come down from heaven and give is a show like this
My husband and I adopted that as our marriage song because we only knew each other for 11 days before getting married. He died last year a few months short of our 50th anniversary.
One of the best themes of Karen. Emotional
The best song the Carpenters ever did...
So beautiful.
Her voice is like when I was a kid standing in the cold shade I would go and stand by the nice warm and peaceful sun...... that's how I would describe her voice very warming and peaceful
That's a beautiful analogy
Forgot the song, how could I? Beautiful!
I fell in love with her when I was a kid. It's still hard to say goodbye RIP
I sendi you an hello... For a msg abaut that beautyfull song...
I love and miss her
What a wonderful singer. So beautiful. That woman never knew how beautiful that woman was. She lives on forever
Vocal perfection Visual Charm
Reminds me of better days...
this song reminds me of someone i will always love
Yes Sandra me too ...52 years on unrequited love..😢😢
Sometimes I don’t think Richard and Karen knew how important their music would become for the generation that grew up with them in childhood. We made jokes about how square and boring they were while we listened to Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Now that I’m older, I value The Carpenters so very much. They were masters of the studio, but also wonderful composers, arrangers, and interpreters of other songwriters. ❤️
YES, exactly where I am. Appreciate them so much now.
I think they did. I know Richard does today ! ❤️👍
Could not agree more! Their music haunts me like no one else......
Similar. I liked a few of their songs but still considered it elevator music. Hey I liked riding elevators. Then again, I was ostracized by my hard rock friends because I freely admitted my love for the Beatles, Herman's Hermits, the Monkees and (drum roll please).....the Partridge Family. And I still do, take that!
Exactly, as a proud 70 yo baby boomer I loved their music but never realized how awesome they were when I was younger…many awesome memories!!!
Voice of an Angel..
Indeed , she had to return to heaven to soon for us here on Earth. ❤️❤️😍😢😭😭
I stiil can't believe what I'm seeing and hearing..
Can we say "perfect pitch"? Such an angel ... rip
We can indeed Mark , quite possibly the greatest Contralto voice you and I will ever hear in our lifetime !!
I miss you.
I grew up loving her music from my Mom and Dad, and my 3rd and 4th grade teachers, Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Galanda (we sang a lot of Carpenters music in school concerts). I still love listening to The Carpenters today. This is one of my favorite tracks from them. Karen looks like an angel here.
Wow! Beautiful, top quality sound, blessed to hear this!
I love Karen Carpenter and her angelic contralto voice now in 2020 more than I did in 1971 when we both turned 21, she in February and me in November. At age 69 I realize how much she meant to us. I love a comment one fan made: "If she only saw herself as we all saw her." There is no way I can watch and listen to this without crying. My sweet older sister Anne passed away at the age of 56 in 2005. I sobbed every day for the first month. My father was gone, but our dear mother had to endure the lost of the first of her 5 babies. I can therefore both sympathize and emphasize what your dear brother and parents went through in 1983. I love you, dearest Karen Carpenter and I greatly mourn your passing.
Michael Triba Beautiful! She is in our hearts in many ways. Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Karen was a gift of Gad to us, even though is wasnt very long. RIP Karen
Her voice is like Silk!! Gone too soon

surprised only 8470 views. one of the best female voices of all time. she could hit a male timbre to close her phrasing like no one I've ever heard-male or female.
So beautiful, so one of a kind.
Karen voice of Voices, Effortless ❤
Born in the 70s, I was exposed to various types of music. The Carpenters have always been there in the background somewhere. Today, in my mid 40s, I'm definitely appreciating them more and more. Would have loved for Karen to still be here.
Karen Carpenter most "Certainly," had an "Outstanding Voice!"
So "GIFTED & SO TALENTED!"
How Tragic she was taken WAY to soon in life due to Anerexia.
If ONLY we knew then what we do today as to how to treat this disorder...
Bless you Karen & pray that you are truly at peace.
💕
I went to many weddings in the 70's/80's who played this song for their 1st dance!
The first thing that struck me when I heard this live version was you can hear the power in her voice even though the song is not necessarily thought of in that way. The recorded version is beautiful, but this live performance is similar with the exception of feeling a bit more power in the vocal. She was just very gifted....
I'm sure I didn't think the Carpenters were cool enough for me to like. I was maybe 12-13 when they took off. But then I'd find myself telling people, "yeah, but I DO like 'For All We Know' and that Leon Russell song she sings "A Song for You." So you see, I really DID like the Carpenters but didn't know it. I love this song and whenever I hear "..let's take a lifetime to say, I knew you well..." my eyes tear up every single time. The music industry eats its own and I know she had other insecurities but what a loss when she passed away, things could have been so much different.
Did anybody pay attention to the Bassist? This dude was all over the place! For a song like this, most bass players would have held the tonic and played a more discrete and supportive roll. But this guy brings a tonal expression that sings and is wonderful in of itself!!!
I honestly believe that among all female singers in all genres, the tone of Karen Carpenter's voice was never equaled. Many women had more soul but none of them had her tonsils.
That English Horn intro and right into Karens ' beautiful voice .. perfection ! ❤️❤️🤩😢😭😭
Such a talented woman
One in a lifetime
Su voz aterciopelada, estremecedora y ultra femenina me vuelve loco de remate, además ella era hermosísima.
Wonderful voice she had!
Beyond wonderful , a voice like Karens ' comes along once in a lifetime. She had the greatest Contralto voice ever , imho ❤️❤️🤩😢😭😭
What a gem of a voice!!
Special , special talent ! ❤️🤩😢😭😭
the perfect female voice in pop history: KAREN CARPENTER and here a very pretty song and melody
Can't listen to this without feeling like I wanna cry. And it's bcz it's so beautiful and she's not here
2:23 of perfection.
Indeed ! ❤️🤩😢😭😭

I remember at the beginning of high school in 1971, The Carpenters came out with a bunch of great hits, and Karen was this young beautiful girl who sang like no one ever did. Then by time I was a Senior four years later in like 74/75, I saw Karen turn into a woman...She seemed to have her hair style perfect, her fashion right on, her figure fantastic, and her confidence and professionalism at its peak...Then according to the movies and documentaries, somebody in her circle mentioned to her that she was gaining a little weight, or getting a little chunky or something to that effect....and the rest is history....The media knows how sensitive girls are about their weight so that's why they have all of these exercise machines, and Nutri System diets on tv, and all those girls look like they're like 88 pounds...Not Cool...Look at those woman from the 60s through the 90s...Barbara Eden, Marlo Thomas, Raquel Welsh, Liz Montgomary, Charlies Angels, Linda Carter, Shirley Jones, Florence Henderson, Stevie Nicks, Cindy Lauper, Madonna, Shania and Mariah, on and on and on...Karen, and those girls would be considered fat today....Don't believe the hype ladies...It's all Bullshit!...I may be wrong, but that's been my take on it anyway...lol......frankm62yroldwhitekid..rockfan
Similar to what another commenter said here, I want to agree with the tone of her voice was a real persons voice as if someone was talking . That register of low male tones to belting out emotional female tones without sounding harsh or unrealistic. There was no LISTEN TO WHAT A Good SINGER I AM, or Listen to the power I have or how many notes I can squeeze in a phrase attitude.
THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO EGO involved w Karen.
She was a true artistic interpreter of emotion. Letting the story of the song speak through w emotion w a beautiful tender voice rather than the LOOK AT ME Mentality of most of today’s female artists. I’d put Linda Rondstadt in same Category as Karen!!
