So a 12 year old with a dad in jail, a mom who she feels abandoned her, loss everything in a fire, was relocated to a new place, with a grandmother who seems annoyed she has to care for her and thinks she's a liar and troublemaker, is involved with an older boy who is buying her expensive gifts and is acting up. And her grandma's solution is to fight her, drag her down the stairs and put her out of the house. And y'all in the comments condoning this because "some kids are out of control"? Her granma is OUT OF CONTROL and that child is broken and traumatized.

I told him from the beginning we would not raise our voices to each other and would solve our problems respecfully. We've been able to solve any issues that come up without screaming, yelling, hitting, or calling names. We've become very close over the years. He's graduating high school this year.

That's one hell of a Speech and though I agree to an extent, THIS SITUATION is Obviously different. Grandma had her a couple years so she didn't create boundaries and Respect. Grandma ain't Mom and when a teen is disrespectful and possibly trying to fight you or breaking your stuff you gotta handle that. I agree squaring up and punching her in the eye is beyond excessive But this teen is obviously a big and troubled girl that parents can't or won't raise. Apparently you've never had your patience tested by an abusive troubled family member before or you wouldn't be so quick to judge and pretend there's no gray area in life. I'm far from abusive but I can be strict and I realize how bad teens are nowadays where school shootings in the news is common and drill Rap in the hip hop Community is toxic to the kids hearing it. Where you get Respect "for living the life" you talking about! Fortunately I've never been in her shoes and I can control myself better. But if a teen did think it's ok to hit me there would be no second time.

Grandma had enough and sweet talking to a child that is that disrespectful gets you more disrespect. They aren’t logical.
I don’t know but in my culture the child wouldn’t even have had a CHANCE to get that rude. There just isn’t any police called in our homes. American kids call police and then everyone is saying the parent should sit and talk.
Look at the children that sitting and talking has raised. Ooooof. Our families would’ve done what this woman did. But no police and we learn.

It was no question why the already traumatized children they were fostering challenged them and demonstrated no respect. I've also worked with some of the greatest foster parents in the world trying their absolute best with children who pushed every button. It really just depends on the foster family. There were so many ways to tackle this child’s behavior. She fought that child like a grown woman. I get how this grandmother felt but that was over the top and unwarranted. The remorse is lacking…

The fact you said this is not the 70s where kids get hit on with no consequences shows that the real true consequences are these grown adults from the 70s who NOT all but in our community they are too many of the same case scenarios. "Hurt people hurt people" . The discipline is not to "beat" but too not spare the rod so you don't spoil the child. If you "discipline" your child and the only result is they fear and resent you than what is soo ineffective with your discipline? that's a child. when you discipline, along with the disappointment you also show love and reason so the child will know what is actually what. No love can be disguised as excuses. Everyone be blessed and don't be afraid to break generational curses. we don't need to disrespect our elders to do it. Just do it like Nike
