I still have fond memories of the first three movies. Although the more I watch them, the more I realize Greg was pretty much the main villain. Rowley deserves so much better.
Definitely not a villain he’s a child trying to fit in literally the most normal non villain thing lol he’s literally getting bullied at home and school 😂
yeah Rodrick pulls a prank on him and still gives him bits of help and he could find anything hidden under that bed or his room. I think he's just protecting and trying to scare his brother away to hide stuff from him and keep his innocence, and he pisses on him!! And always plays the victim card through all 3 of them. I dont think ive watched any of them in close to a decade. But i remember I watched them on dvd like once every 6 months for years. Atleast the first 2. The 2nd will never not be a perfect film ever
Devon Bostick as Rodrick was the HIGHEST OF HIGHLIGHTS FOR THIS FRANCHISE 🥹 when I saw Oppenheimer, I couldn’t see him in the movie without thinking of Rodrick 🥹👏🏼
Christopher Nolan mentioned in an interview for Oppenheimer that Rodrick Rules. Rodrick definitely deserves his own spinoff. Like, c’mon! Why haven’t they done that yet?! We deserve it!
@@Antwannnnnah the first ones great, but rodrick rules is the peak of this film series, its really just a good movie period. Still holds up really well
Bro we didn’t even have a piece of cheese on the blacktop of my school but this movie had such an influence on us that we used to do this anyway and say someone had the “cheese touch” 11:26
everyone in my elementary school was obsessed with this movie so we would let a hamburger patty rot on the blacktops and say ppl had the hamburger touch 😭😭😭 the janitors would clean it up everytime but kids would keep putting a new one
I read books 1-6 when these moves came out, I preordered the 7th thru the scholastic book fair, and I got a week before it came out on in stores. Everyone treated it like a Marvel movie, my friends kept begging me not to spoil it for them
39:18 HUGE departure from the book. Say whatever else you want about him, Zoo-Wee-Mama WAS Greg's idea. First he wrote and drew everything, then Rowley asked for more to do, so Greg let him draw. He didnt like that, so he let Rowley write the speech bubbles. He didnt like that, either, so they parted ways. Greg came up with Creighton the Cretin, submitted it and actually won! BUT the editor of the paper completely changed the cartoon to make it more "educational" for students, to where it was then called Creighton the Curious Student, to where they started calling Greg a suck up, so he pulled the cartoon altogether. Which is when they replaced it with Rowleys edition of Zoo Wee Mama, and when Greg confronted him about it, Rowley said it was all HIS idea.
Rowleys parents are safety freaks and won't let him dress up as anything remotely dangerous or violent. They took off the knight's helmet, cut a hole so he could see better, made him wear a sweater over the rest of it so he wouldn't get cold, put reflective tape on the sweater, and replaced the sword with a glow stick. I kid you not.
I was in Kindergarten when this movie came out and I had my own Rowley who was my best friend and cousin. He's a lot more of a normal person who can just go with the flow and I'm a ball of anxiety who just keeps to himself. I was a lot like Greg in Kindergarten where I wanted nothing more than to be adored by everyone and thought I deserved to be. I got humbled big time when I moved and started first grade at a new school where I was liked even less than I was in Kindergarten. I lived in total obscurity from then up until High School Graduation, but I know the friends I made were real friends. Life is better after school.
Since you mentioned middle school and Superbad in the same sentence. I hope and pray some rejects haven’t seen Good Boys. It’s also by Seth Rogen. It’s pretty much Superbad but middle schoolers 😂
Im someone who sat on the floor against a wall in middle school during lunch with two friends who voluntarily sat with me. It wasn’t so awkward because i was just happy i wasnt alone.
The Next movie. Rodrick Rules is actually a classic so you definitely check it out. It is like the empire strikes back of this movie. The 3rd one is pretty good as well
I was in elementary school when the book & movie dropped. They made such a profound mark on my grade. When the book came out, I sorta remember the cheese touch thing being such a problem that teachers had to stop reading it or skip around the cheese touch parts during reading time. When the movie came out, kids were constantly tossing school cheeses on the playground sidewalk & A new cheese got placed everytime the old one got picked up. If I remember correctly, I think the book was also temporarily removed out of the school library at some schools & you had to be "mature enough" to check it out when it came back.
I was in middle school when this movie came out and it’s crazy how much I relate to some of the things in this movie. I grew up in Sleepy Hollow, NY and as you can expect, Halloween was MASSIVE in my town so me and my friends would go around town getting up to all sorts of trouble. We had phones so we could coordinate but almost none of the things we did were caught on video or photo for social media. It was a great time to grow up and I wouldn’t have it any other way
This trilogy holds a special place in my heart, can't wait for you guys to watch Dog Days and Roderick Rules next! Also fun fact for SAW fans: The actor who plays Roderick was in SAW VI.

Robert Capron (the kid who played Rowley) was unfortunately typecast as the “fat goofy best friend” for a while after DoaWK.
