Inflammation, Cell Health and the Hidden Dangers of Processed Oils - Brian Peskin
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- While fish oil supplements are widely promoted for brain health, the brain only needs 2-6mg of DHA per day. However, the typical fish oil capsule provides 600mg - a massive 40-100x overdose that can deplete crucial antioxidants.
Professor Brian Peskin, an MIT-trained engineer turned medical researcher, presents groundbreaking insights about essential fatty acids and cellular health. Peskin details how getting the right balance of unprocessed parent omega-6 and omega-3 oils, while avoiding processed versions, can help reduce inflammation, improve blood pressure, and even reverse coronary calcium buildup.
NOTABLE QUOTE
"87 percent of what clogs an artery is the adulterated omega-6, not saturated fat like we were told for 30 years... Saturated fat can't combine with anything. There's no binding space on it. It's saturated. There's nothing open. But we have been so misled."

Difficult interview to listen to; had to be frustrating to complete the interview. Thanks to Jack for slowing down the professor and asking questions.
Excited for this one! I've learned so much from Brian over the years
All I know is when I’m on my carnivore diet…my body is happy. The day I cheat w/slice of pie or a slice of banana bread…ugh ! I suffer within a couple of hours…feeling nauseous & body feels inflammation…next day I don’t have much energy…🧐 skin issues start flaring up too! 😩
I’m in the same boat
Much as this interview is not the easiest to follow, the guest is absolutely brilliant! He is sharing some golden nuggets. Thank you for having this conversation. Very enlightening indeed.
Dr. Ovadia, your podcast never disappoints. You have the most interesting guests and I always walk away a little bit more knowledgeable. Thank you so much. Happy New Year 😊
This guy may get more oxygen to his brain if he quit smoking cigars.
You're right. He should at least refrain from doing that on videos. I mean, come on; surely if a person can refrain from smoking on an airline flight, they can do it for a one hour video...
That's his choice. I'm sure none of us are perfect and need to make changes.
Very interesting interview. Things I've never heard before about Omega 6 and fish oil. This guy is brilliant.
So in one sentence: "Avoid processed seed oils." I think we all know that ...
Not everybody. And many influencers are coming on board with definitive studies that state direct opposition to this narrative. 🤷🤦
Maybe so but there are two other things he mentioned that we need to know Fish Oil is not the solution and causes more harm than benefit and we still must get adequate Parent Essential Oils from organic unadulterated sources.
@@jellybeanvinkler4878I don't trust most of them. Shills.
@@njsongwriterexactly. Fish oil/Omega 3 is not the solution. His explanation of the harm of fish oil makes sense. His explanation of the need for natural omega 6 is interesting. I've never heard this before.
Dr shawn Baker interviewed him too. This is a bit easier to follow
Dr Ray Peat connected the dots also re the processed oils some 20 odd years ago.
Dr. Ovadia, last week you had Dr. Davis as a guest and he said that fish oils absolutely DO work for prevention of cardiovascular disease and now you have Pestin saying they DO NOT work. Don't you see how this only confuses your listeners (who, BTW, are trying to make educated choices on how to "fix" their hearts)? This is SO frustrating!!! You're not helping us make a decision on what we should be doing.
BillyBoy66, this is how we get educated! 🎉
Hearing from one expert and making lifestyle decisions is never a good idea. Listen to as many expert views as you can and then make your own personal informed decision.
@@hpagoda I've listened to dozens of so-called "experts" on these matters.... and they mostly contradict one another. Very hard for someone to make an "informed decision", as you put it. The problem with this guy (Peskin) is he try's to make all the other "experts" look like idiots. No wonder he's a nobody in this arena.
@@robyn3349 Not from this fool, that's for sure.
@@hpagoda The question is, who do you choose to listen to? If you're not an expert (which is most of us), how do you decide?
As I’m listening, I hear the
“Magic” word inflammation, inherent in a number of diseases. This is excellent discussion (thanks Jack for moderating). Please, please, please, address viruses as well. I’ve listened to Dr David Brownstein discuss his experience during c-19 lockdown. With bird flu looming, what is reasonable understanding and what might be good strategies for addressing it?
Half way through & I'm still waiting to hear where to buy "unprocessed - organic - seed oils/ omega 6"... as far as I know, there's no such thing, unless he's selling this product???? Yes, he sells it, but im sticking with fresh meats, not his "organic omega 6" - which is extracted/ processed from plant sources- no thx
Yes, he is a salesman. He tries to convince the audience everyone needs his product
He said to buy organic foods with the omega 6 oils in it or you can buy from him.
Dr Ovadia, Do you recommend his products to your patients?
I hope NOT!!!
I assume the cell samples used to measure omega 6 levels were all from humans in the past few decades. Onega6 in our diets has been extremely high. I wonder what the levels were in human cells prior to our industrial food era. Also. Organic seed oils don’t make a difference. No matter how the soy or corn or rapeseed was grown the tiny amounts of oil in each seed still has to be mechanically and chemically extracted. That is what does the damage
This should be the top comment.
That's what I thought. Being organic has nothing to do with it! Peskin doesn't make sense. He sets a bad example with his cigar smoking and crazed persona. So, is it fine with using an organic cooking oil such as sunflower/safflower/canola that has been expeller pressed or something that is cold pressed, needs to be refigerated and not used for cooking?
Where is the discount code they mentioned?
That’s what I want to know.
Can you get enough of these essential oils from eating nuts and seeds?
A Canadian, Udo Erasmus ,has been saying this for 40 years and has produced his own cold pressed, organic, refridgerated properly balanced omega 6 and 3 oil which should not be used for cooking. . His books are widely available and he has an active website.
If an oil has been processed, especially if it has been heat-treated, best to avoid.
If it has been cold pressed, ideally organic, then you can reasonably assume it is ok to ingest.
Could you say he is a slick, educated salesman with a product to sell?
TY Dr. Ovadia for a great guest ! My natural path wanted me to take fish oil but I have since left his practice and have been carnivore for 2yrs. I don't feel the need to take many supplements and that's helped the wallet.😊 I do take nattokinase for an aortic(descending) stent from co-arctated aorta at birth. In 2023 had ejection fraction of 35-40%; then in June 2024 it had increased to 62%. I attribute that to eating whole, human food(animal fats and meat). Will be checking out Mr. Peskins website.
Carol would you please tell me the Brand and dosage that you used of the Nattokinase. My son has low ejection too and I'm looking for an effective brand to go along with the dietary changes. He is mentally Disabled so up to me to help. Thankyou!
@jessemills3845 I was prescribed by a Natural pathic dr. I take 2 caps in the morning and 1 at night, on an empty stomach. I feel carnivore woe helped the most with the ejection fraction, not the Nattokinase. Arthur. Andrew Medical is the product I use. Cardiologist at the local heart clinic will not accept it if there is any surgical procedure to be done. I was forced to take Eliqis or Pradaxa or they would not do the ablation on me. Those pharma drugs are wicked bad, and I could not tolerate them for more than 10 to 14 days.
@jessemills3845 Also, I have a stent so need to be on a blood thiner which Nattokinase is. I've switched dosage numerous times so you may want to talk with a Naturalpath to determine your sons dosage. I 've taken up to 4 caps a day several yrs ago, 12 hrs apart AM/PM. I am a very small person and am 69yo. Not sure if Nattokinase helps with ejection fraction, research that. Hope this helps. 😀
This was great. I have never liked fish that much unless it was really fresh occasionally, and no way would I do the oil which is gross, lol!
And if 3 is so great, why is it not found in much quantity outside of fish? Never understood the logic so just kind of ignored the whole debate.
Very cool, another rabbit hole to go down.
He does say that it's okay to eat whole fish. He just didn't mention it in this video.
Brilliant and yes I’m going to his website 😂
Luckily he sells the one thing that really works and no one else does, sign me up!
Early humans lived on the shores of water. An advantabe of our downturned nose as opposed to chimps is we could snatched things from deeper water without it bothering our sinuses.
would be better to watch if he took a breath, answer the question specifically and wait for the host to clarify, he may know a lot but bad communicator
There is a lot of negative feed in the comments. I suggest listening again. Halleluiah Acres have been selling Udo's oil for years. It has the proper amounts of 6 to 3 oils.
This guy is horrible. He can't listen to questions, therefore i don't know where to get the healthy Omega 6 oils
I would like to hear more about EZTrek, the medical food he is recommending.
A scam? I don't buy it - just saying
Where is the "medical food doc, easy track"?
Excellent information coming at me way too fast!
EZTrek. I would like to hear more about it also.
Where do you get organic cold pressed Omega 6 ???
There are specialty farms that make cold pressed sunflower oil. 😊 May be difficult to find, but it's out there.
This guy is insane.
As he smokes a cigar 🤷♀️
@@steadfast20-4-26 Maybe so but I think his science is right on. So I'll choose to overlook is stupidness, (No one is perfect.)
@@njsongwriter I think he’s spot on too.
And vety unhealthy looking
Not a picture of health, either. 🤨
What's this dude doing smoking a cigar and talking about health concepts of nutrition????
Agreed, it's a dumb thing to do, especially on camera.
Right or wrong is all that concerns me.... Him...Smoking cigars has no bearing in me
Organic tobacco is actually good for you !
Most people who smoked didn't get convid
COLD PRESSED - ORGANIC Omega 6
Walnuts 4.2:1 Omega6:3
Why don’t you read his book before you interview him!
If his belief about fish oil is correct that must mean all th Inuit are very unhealthy
Actually, He does say that eating the whole fish is okay. If you do a little research I believe your find that the Inuit survived more on other sources besides fish (like seals and polar bear).
Think this guest just wants to sell his supplements
This is confusing at best
This guy it’s hard to listen to!
Hey 👋 no defense but your engineer doesn’t look healthy just my opinion I don’t know, but he talks like he knows a lot
Not everyone practices what they preach. Unfortunately, that reflects unfavorably on their message but if it is what the science indicates is true, you gotta give it consideration.
So….to have high Cellular oxygenation we need the fresh pure fats/oils and especially omega 6
Unprocessed. Where do we get them?
I got a headache trying to understand him.
This is good balance/semantic differentiation with Dr Seyfried’s discussion.
I wouldnt go to Starbucks ! Research where they get their coffee from ..
The last guest was promoting fish oil but this guest is anti-Fish oil. @6:25
I’m glad to hear it because I’m feeling great on beef.
Epic fail on this interview. One thing about Peskin: He may not always be right, but he is NEVER wrong. Horrible interview and a waste of time.
I felt the same initially. The more I listened, the more I learned. He's brilliant but so passionate about his work that he's many levels higher than our understanding. His explanations are difficult to follow because he is assuming that we know more than we do. The longer I listened, the more I understood. The moderator did a great job slowing him down.
It's always worth the time to get educated about our health.
This guy is so hard to listen to. I did not enjoy this interview at all. Also, I do not plan to include any seed oils in my diet.
Not sure why you had this guy on.
Dude is smoking a fat cigar. I hear what he’s saying I believe it but he’s not making it easy to follow. 🤷♀️
Man you’re such an interrupter. Let the other person finish talking.
My wife fixed her type 1 diabetes, so no you are wrong it is possible.
Please expand if you would, please.
What do you mean?
Forget the president that’s coming in too. His brain isn’t all there either.
Huh?
