Ive found best way to use laser pointers is in how you end the session. when they are starting to get aggravated they cant catch it, as I have them chasing the dot round I drop a treat near my foot (I dont let them see me drop it) once im ready for them to "catch it" Ill slow the movement down a little and lead them to the treat by placing the laser directly onto it. Once they reach it or swat at it I turn off the pointer. By then they smell/see the treat and gobble it up. They get a simulated hunt/catch/eat. I dont do this daily, but every few days for each cat. Just one of the ways we play. Before i ended with the treat fake out they would spend 30 minutes looking for the dot, anxious and unsatisfied. Since the treat ending began they can move on without feeling like something alive is missing/hiding in their territory.
Fish rod with long dried passion fruit vine tied to the end, no leaves. She Absolutely loves it. I put chicken treats at the end of the vine when finished. Out in the back yard the cat full bolt trying to catch the vine, big power slide in the dirt, Comes back for more. Love it
True for the most part but my cat loves belly rubs and asks for it. If I pet his side he rolls over and spreads his paws for a belly rub. He closes his eyes, puts his head back and purrs.
That's wonderful to hear! Every cat is truly unique, and it's lovely that your furry friend trusts and enjoys belly rubs so much. It's heartwarming when our feline companions show such clear signs of comfort and affection. Thanks for sharing this delightful tidbit about your cat; it's always a joy to hear about the special bonds people have with their pets. 😺❤🐾
debbie- most cats don't like it though. I'm surprised that most people don't realize it's a no-no for cats. My suggestion would be to just not do it or if they do to just stroke the belly area very gently, not a full on, rough belly rub like you would a dog.
@@reya346 her cat is obviously not like "most" cats so she does not have to be concerned or listen to you tell her what not to do. She and her cat seem to be just fine doing what they are doing. Geez.
First time I did this back to my cat, she stopped, trilled happily and came running over to tap her nose to mine... Whoever said cats are not affectionate
My cat an I talk with our eyes... I was with my brother and I said watch this, I look at the cat and did a certain blink and the cat immediately came over for his reward... magical fingers
In 60 years I've had a lot of cats. Only two (My current cat is one) have been tummy rub fanatics. Current kitty demands tummy rubs every day. This nutball also loves "Wet Rubs". If I wash my hands he runs into the room so I can "dry" my hands on his head. He climbs my leg and puts full pressure into my hands as I rub his cheeks and ears. He jumps in the shower in the mornings to get a leg up on grooming every day. Most recent previous cat hated water and touching the tummy. Current cat you need a stethoscope to hear purr. Last cat you could hear across the house. They are all unique.
It's truly fascinating how each cat has its own distinct personality and quirks! Your experiences over 60 years certainly highlight the diverse range of behaviors and preferences in our feline companions. From "wet rubs" to varying purr volumes, it's clear that no two cats are entirely the same. It's these unique characteristics that make each bond special and memorable. Thanks for sharing your wonderful journey with all these incredible kitties over the years! 🐱💕
My cat also loves rubbing him with a wet hands after I wash them. Moreover he loudly asks to dry him with a towel after that. So my hands washing procedure is a bit longer than others' people.
Interestingly enough, my cat is determined to have belly rubs and even rolls over to have his tummy gently brushed during grooming sessions, purring non-stop. He always indicates when he's had enough though by rolling right side up again. I'm glad he enjoys this because he is a medium-hair with very curly tummy fur that really does need to be brushed daily to avoid tangles.
My cats love belly rubs and they love to be brushed under the belly. It's true they don't like to be pet on the head but my boy cat loves when I scratch under his jaw areas. He just purrs when I do. Yeah just like people, cats are different in the things that they like and don't like. But I tell my husband all of the time don't pet them on their heads like you would a dog, they move away quick if you try to keep doing it.
The petting taboos depend on the cat. If you've had your cat since they were a baby, and you've always rubbed their belly or face, they probably don't mind it. Probably even enjoy it. My two cats were born in my house (I was fostering a pregnant stray) and they absolutely love face and tummy rubs.
Yea this video really doesn’t express how cats, like humans, are completely unique and can adapt to love once “uncomfortable” habits. My cats used to be very defensive and cold; but I was patient and 5 years later she loves cuddling and belly rubs are a must. Her and I stare at each other when we’re just chillin and it’s no issue. I guess it really depends on someone’s personal relationship with their pet in general
@@stop_the_cat Yeah there's a lot of misinformation about cats. People generally understand you can train dogs, but when it comes to cats there is a lot of this 'this is the natural instinct of cats' with no room for training them. Cats can in fact be trained just as much as dogs can, training methods with cats just differ from dogs. You can train dogs not to mind you messing with them or their food while they eat, and you can train cats to be more affectionate and comfortable with handling. In the end they're both intelligent and adaptable species.
One strategy with the laser pointer is to end its path onto a toy or other physical object so that once the cat catches up to it there is a tactile reward.
Many good points. We've had about 60 stray interactions and rehabs in the past 20 years and seen all these actions. Head bumping is another action they do all the time. And we have had hundreds of these over the years. And they seem to really be social with each other and us when you're face to face. The tummy rub? I think that one may be a judgement call. Some of ours will lay on your lap or near you and let you rub their bellys for half an hour straight. I don't encourage the biting, no matter how gentle. Cat's have a tendency to increase the pressure, the more you allow it. They don't realize we don't have the tuff skin and protective fur, to curb those sharp teeth. So what I do is a vocal ouch, and pass up the bitting after it gets a little too rough. They learn pretty quickly and stop usually right away. Plus you wouldn't want them to feel comfortable doing that with young children. Just like hand play. Those sharp claws are quick to put a good deep scratch, easily infected. So over stimulation during hand play is good to avoid as well. Same reason. Good vids though.
IDK...both my cats like belly rubs and face rubs (each in a slightly different area). Both love their neck petted and brushed. As far as laser pointer play, one barely cares about it (a bit older), the other loves it. The key is to turn off the pointer once it's "under their paw", then praise, and pet them a little. At least Morty isn't bringing home birds anymore. (yes, you must praise them for that too! Then reluctantly collecting and disposing of the gift 😀)
Pretty good video, but my cats LOVE to have their faces rubbed. I think that's just another trust issue and caution is only needed around a new or stranger cat.
I learned more about understanding cats behavior from this video. It's like the Rosetta stone for cats. U have increased my ability to communicate with someone I care about and interact with daily. Thank u
We brought in two rough feral cats living in our bushes. They love belly rubs. It depends on the person. You have to talk to them in your soft voice to get them to fully trust you. Keep noise at a minimum.
Very 1st item: shows multiple cats who clearly enjoy & welcome belly rubs & scritchies. Some like it, some don't, some like it from certain people or certain ways or times or lengths or...w/e. The Rule: Take your cue from the cat (Basically, get "consent" if you actually care about others besides yourself.) & learn the signs of "plz"..."that's enough"...etc Petting/touching their face falls under this category as well. With a cat that likes it & a person who knows how...well, I've had more than one cat push their face HARD into my hand to get more lol End laser pointer sessions with a real toy...ofc. You wouldn't invite people over & be like, "Well, YEAH it smells great in here! Dinner's gonna be awesome!" & have them leave without eating.
Let's talk about number 1 shall we? Wish my cats didn't wake me up during my much needed "person" sleep! Not like they have to get up in the morning and drive a car! Where's the mutual respect, hah?? LOL
Thank you for the last one! So many people have no problem waking their cats up when it is not necessary! Cats know better than us! If they are laying down, they are tired!
EVERY cat that that I have interacted with loves face rubs. It's the only secure place for them in my experience. My Loki will let ME only rub him everywhere. That's just our trust level. I can hold and kiss his paws. He loves me, he always greets me at the door and meows the sweetest of meows. I've loved him deeply since the late night he walked up to me as a little kitten. I always will. He's just too sweet hearted. Even though he can be a little shithead sometimes.
I don’t even know where to begin… Every cat is different. My cat loves having his stomach rubbed when he’s laying on his back. Seriously loves it. He also likes me to pet his face… I don’t overdo it and I keep it on the mild side… But he certainly prefers me to rub the top of his head. That makes him go crazy. In a good way. When he wants me to massage his head, he will push my hand until I start doing it. We are incredibly bonded.
Hi. There is a black cat on screen from about 4:19 to 425. It has an areas of fur that things from it's ears down to it's eyes. Does anyone know for sure what kind of cat it is? It's exactly what my cat looks like and I'd love to know. Fur length, eye color, and those light patches of fur by the ears.
I have a 5-year-old cat who likes to sleep on his back laying next to me. He wants my arm around him touching his belly. If we are up and adam and he wants attention he will lay on his back meowing until I rub his belly. Then he will begin purring. My 15-year-old female cat doesn't want her belly rubbed at all. If I try to rub it, she gets mad at me however because the previous cat dad did something I wish that he hadn't done so I am not to worry about scratches if I pet her on her belly. Laser pointer bs... both of my cats love playing with the laser pointer. My male cat even brought the laser pointer to me from the coffee table downstairs. I have heard both of them purr when playing with one. Staring into their eyes, I am going to call bs on this as well because both of my cats love come close to me staring into my eyes. In my 64 rotations around our star, I have never had a cat that didn't want their face rubbed. So I am calling bs on this as well. Both of my cats wake up when I walk into the room. Both of them follow me if I change rooms even if they had been asleep. They want to be in the same room as me. I think some of these so-called cat psychologists need to find a different line of work as they don't know what the heck they are talking about.
One of my cats LOVES her face/cheeks scratched. She pushes her face as hard as possible and loves hard scratches lol If you try to stop, she’ll grab your hand with her paw and pull it back to her face haha At times she’ll have us do that for around 20-30 minutes straight, then wraps her arms/paws around our arm and uses our hand as a pillow to sleep. My other cat loves if I gently lay my head on his belly. He wraps his paws around my head and licks it while purring furiously. If I try to pull away, he latches on with his claw and bites me. I basically have to have my head on him enough for him to feel it, but not enough to crush him util he’s done grooming my head/hair. He also likes to play fetch with his toys. Sometimes when I’m sleeping, he comes over and starts rubbing his head all over my face and petting me until I wake up. That his way of telling me he wants me to lay on my back so he can lay down and sprawl out across my stomach and chest and have me basically hug him. He’s extremely affectionate. He enjoys if it I gently rub my nose against his, basically an Eskimo kiss. His other favorite thing to do is lay across me and my wife’s shoulders. They both sleep with us every night, going back and forth. They’ll sleep with my wife for a couple of hours, then come over and lay all over me, then go back to her, sometimes we each get one curling up to us. One of them likes to go under the blanket and sleep between our legs. They’re funny. They both very loving and playful. They younger one who’s still only about 6-7 months old is very “talkative”. He’s always meowing to us. He has certain tells for when he wants things, but sometimes it’s like he’s just trying to conversate with us. One other thing is, I suffer from severe chronic migraines that are beyond excruciating whenever I get them, they both come over and lay by my side. If I have to run to the bathroom to get sick, the younger one chases after me and stays by my side. If i get in the shower he stays outside of the tub, but will poke his head in and out and meow inquisitively like he’s checking on me and will wait til I’m done.
I visit my mom twice a week and love to play with her cat. She had a favorite play toy, a stick with a feather thing attached by string (I bought multiples because they would go missing). She run, hunt for it, even jump in the air while chasing it. She'd carry it around, even bringing it with her under the bed or couch, or to my mom or me. But she grew tired of it. No more jumps and very little chase. So I started using a laser pointer and she loves that. The other day, I decided to try the stick/feather toy and she like it for a couple of minutes, even doing a couple of jumps, but nowhere near like she used to. She just likes the laser pointer better. I mean, she comes running when she sees me go to the drawer with the laser pointers (yes, multiple because batteries run down and mom seems to clean that drawer and move things).
Oddly enough, my cat prefers temperatures in the same range I do, which is roughly 65-75 F. And when it's damp and rainy and dark, which I love the most... he's just as comfortable as I am, and very likely to sit as close to me as he can get, dozing off in absolute comfort. lol
Growing up with cats we as a family got to know and highly respect our cats, and their needs. A lot of times, when they would come into the room with us, they would just lay next to us, and an initial light stroke of their foreheads to their back just before the tail, and they would hike their butt up in the air a bit and then we would stop stroking them. I know they loved the attention but did not mind that we stroked them minimally to that point only. They loved that type of attention.
My cats love belly rubs! They drop down on to their backs, then roll to the left for a rub on that side, then roll to the right for that side before returning to the middle! Also, regarding laser pointers: when you're done having your cat chase the dot, shine it on a piece of food, thereby completing the hunt/catch/kill cycle.
Our greatly-missed Birman always loved a belly-rub, but I was always careful to do it gently, knowing how vulnerable they can feel there. Whenever the night-time temperature threatened to drop below a certain point, we always popped the living-room panel heater on for her and put her most comfortable bed nearby. (Couldn't let her on the bed, because otherwise we'd get a loud MEEOW! right in our ears at 3am.) Always understood about letting them sleep. There was a kids' book I read once which made that point, and I never forgot it. Maybe you could have mentioned holding their paws. A lot of cats aren't keen on that; you really have to earn their trust before they'll let you (and it's necessary if you ever need to be trimming their claws).
So my cat was picked up off the street, she's quite foolish but she's also terrified of most people except myself. She will walk up to me and force her head on my hand, she meows angrily if I don't scratch her enough. At the same time she has learnt I don't like to be scratched/clawed and when she does it by instinct and I say "ouch" she will literally run away and come back 5 mins later to apologize. So With all that info, her rolling on her back and me rubbing her belly, am I offending her? She doesn't bite, scratch or run from me when I rub her belly she genuinely seems to enjoy it. As for staring into her eyes.. I only do it so that I can slow blink and head nod to her to know I love her. Can I keep doing this or should I stop?
One of my cats appears to really like her face rubbed, in particular her ears, cheekbones, above the eyes, and under the chin. She comes to me and asks for this attention and purrs like crazy when I give it to her. I think she sees this as some sort of mutual grooming and usually responds (if I let her) by rubbing her nose all over my face and mouth. I have another cat that totally freaks out if my hand comes anywhere near her face so I guess it is up to the cat.
Absolutely! Laser pointers can be such a fun and engaging toy for cats. My kitty loves them! Just be sure to give them a "real" toy to catch at the end of each play session, so they feel a sense of accomplishment. ! 🐾🔴😊
I don't know about most cats but my demon loves belly rubs and scratches, she also lovea when i touch her face and she doesn't have a stare problem, she's very polite actually and friendly She will greeted you saying "hello", blinks to you, runs behind you, she let's you sleep, she doesn't destroy my stuff, she's very sweet and gentle, she doesn't bite or scratch even if i tease her too much 🤣 sometimes i wonder if she's a cat or something else 🤣 My sweet little chocolate demonic dragon A pure calico demon❤️❤️
Your cat sounds like an absolute gem! ❤️ It’s not every day you hear about a kitty that loves belly rubs and face touches. She’s got that purrfect mix of politeness and friendliness, like a little furry ambassador! 🐱
I remember when my sister and I were arguing both cats ran fast to us and started biting and pinched us so bad one jumped in the couch start meowing other in the floor meow bit pinched my leg it didn't hurt but we stop arguing over dumb stuff because we want are cat start bit us hard. Start doing weird stuff that we may not know what happens next. So we pick our cat up and start to pet them so they can claim down. This happened in my childhood house as an adult. They don't care if we argue no more. The move must have changed them But we still be careful because you never know
My maybe (adopted from a shelter) Norwegian forrest cat enjoy "cold". He is clearly too uncomfortable when temperature is over 20C (68F). 16C (60,8F) is around where he enjoys most.
It's interesting how individual cats can have unique preferences! While many cats might prefer warmer temperatures, certain breeds, like the Norwegian Forest Cat, are adapted to colder climates due to their thick, double-layered coat. This could explain why your furry friend feels more comfortable in cooler temperatures. Thanks for sharing your experience; it's a great reminder that every cat is an individual with its own likes and dislikes! 🐱❄️
😂An awesome educational video, thank you. And I really hope you are a happier person by getting to know this amazing cats world and telling us all about it. My heart is thinking about getting 4 puppies and 4 kittens to watch them play together...Is that a good idea or not, tell me what you think.❤
Thank you so much for the kind words! 😊 Delving into the world of cats and sharing it with you all has indeed been a heartwarming journey. As for your idea of getting 4 puppies and 4 kittens to watch them play - it sounds like an absolute delight in theory! 😍 However, in practice, it can be quite challenging. Raising multiple puppies and kittens at once requires a lot of time, attention, and resources. If you're genuinely considering this, I'd recommend starting with one or two and seeing how that goes before expanding your furry family. Whatever you decide, your heart seems to be in the right place, and I'm sure any pets you bring into your home will be showered with love! ❤🐱🐶🌟
Felix, our cat, demands belly rubs. He goes out of his way to get belly rubs. He loves it. He sleeps with me every night and demands belly rubs before he smooches me mercilessly lol. I have no problem with this❤❤
It's not any 97 degrees .. my cat hates to get to hot .. he doesn't like it over 92 degrees.... My cat also loves loves loves to have his cheeks scratched..they have pharamones in their cheeks
If you get a kitten used to touching their belly when they are young they will actually enjoy it. Dont try that on a grown cat. Don't over pet. Some cats like being pet but dont over do it. If a cat growls and bites after you have been petting them a lot , you have over stimulated them and they dont enjoy it. A lot of cats like the petting but some dont like it as much. They will ask for more pets if they want them.
Absolutely, you've touched on some essential points! It's true that introducing certain touches to kittens at a young age can help them become more accustomed to it as they grow older. And understanding a cat's unique boundaries and signs of overstimulation is crucial to building trust and ensuring they're comfortable. It's all about reading their signals and respecting their preferences. Thank you for sharing these insightful observations; they're super helpful for both new and experienced cat owners alike. 🐱❤🐾
Fun content. In all fairness, not every cat hates their belly rubbed and most of these are for the majority of but not all cats. My little buddy, Rosco, lifts his back leg so my hand will land on his belly when he settles in next to me in the recliner. He loves it and honestly it makes me smile too to rub that furry lil' belly. He's such a goober. I'm going to go try the slow blink now. 🙂
they might perceive it as an invasion of their personal space? gee... I've never experienced that feeling from my cat.... not even when he tries to sleep on my head at night
One of the first quirks I noticed about my tuxedo cat was that he *loves* having his face touched. He will actively pull my hand to his face to run his cheeks against it.
#3 doesnt make sense to me my kitten loves it almost goes into paralyzes and purring while guiding my fingers on its side of his face and upper cheek area by eyes and he allows me to do this while in my lap while i sit on the ground and have him facing up at me in my hands not sure if its because he feels like hes being groomed by his mother but yeah he loves it
I have two cats, they are brother and sister. I ALWAYS know that something is wrong if I hear the male meowing. He has the tiniest little voice. I hardly have ever heard even a peep out of the female. If they are thirsty, he will let me know from a distance when their water dish is. Many has been the time that the female cat has snuck into a room and got closed in (does matter that I look to make sure they don't come in or that they are not in the room. I will all of a sudden hear a distant tiny meowing and sure enough the female will be in a spare bedroom or has snuck into an open close while I am in there getting clothes. That is basically the ONLY time I hear him meowing. Purring, yes, both of them have vigorous purring (it makes the house vibrate, hehehe)!
Weirdly … expressing your love can be stressful. Cats do not necessarily like kissing, hugging, teasing, or tickling Better to think of affection like a dance where you harmonize with their cues
My cat hates belly rubs. He will let me do it every once in a while, but not very often. He usually tries to take his back leg and gently push my hand away, so I listen to him. He loves being pet on the face especially. He basically asks for it, forcing me to do it sometimes.
That's okay! It doesn't mean they don't love you. Just keep trying and be patient with them. They might surprise you one day with a slow blink of their own! Remember, love and trust build over time. 🐾❤️😊
I bought a wide water dish for my cat, both the cat I bought it for, and the one I have now use the narrow side more than the wide - So I don't know about the whisker thing....
My cat is 1, and only been around me since I live alone , and friends sometimes . She’s super attached to me and always follows me and sleeps with me . I wonder what I do that she hates 😂😂
I am pretty sure the whisker nerve endings are in the base or root of the whisker, not the whisker itself. If they did have nerves in their whiskers my 6 month old cat when I was a teen wouldn't have burned off all her whiskers on one side by getting too close to a citronella candle. Luckily they grew back just fine.
I've had cats most of my life but my current male kitty is weird. He likes me to rub his tummy. He will continually come and roll over on or near my feet, exposing his belly and if I don't give him a gentle belly rub he gets indignant and will get up a repeat the process until I do it. Then he's happy and will trot around following me. Odd little dude....
My cats are not thrilled when I crank up the sound system and blast classic rock while I wash dishes or do laundry. I encourage them to go lay on my bed, the bedroom is furthest away from the concert.
Some cats do love belly rubs. That means they trust you completely. Most cats love it when you pet their cheeks and chin. The reason is that they have sweat glands in those areas so when you pet them there you get their smell. Some cats even like it when you pet their foreheads. Contrary to what one would believe most cats like it when you gently pet or rub their ears. Petting them at the base of the tail can cause some extreme reactions ranging from immense pleasure to extreme annoyance. This happens because that area is sort of an erotic zone for cats. Very few cats will tolerate having their toe beans petted. The reason is that petting them there generates a reflex to pull their leg inwards, they are in essense ticklish. Vets use this to determine if an injured cat retains neural activity to its hind legs. If he doesn't pull his leg when touched he may have severe spinal injury.
I don’t think they said that anywhere. They literally said they DONT usually expose their belly unless they feel Comfortable because it houses vital organs etc..
I let my girls do what they want. But sometimes I can be a little devil and pick them up and kiss them. 1 lets me and only me hold her. the mother cat lets me sometimes she isn’t fixed so I’m down w that. (I kept a girl from her 1st litter she’s had 3). She doesn’t even let my fiancé hold her. She can but she will fidget around. She can pet her comfortably tho. Why does my cat stare at me tho. ?? I catch them staring at me lmao. Kinda freaks me out but usually I feel negative energy around me when they do these things and they go towards my feet and as they say the soul leaves the body through your feet when you die so cats know something. When ever I feel down they are around me, the daughter comes on top on me . When my fiancé is sick they go next to her which is the only time they are vulnerable to her. She has headaches sometimes and they go towards her head or under her bed near her head area
Strong scents can be used to steer cats away from areas they shouldn't be in. I spray the cables behind my computer because one of my cats is a cable chewer.
I was raised old school where it's important to dominate your animals so they know who's alpha. But as an adult, this way didn't sit well with me and I like to let them be themselves to find out what personality they have. Now for the most part they respect my rules because it makes me happy. But every so often the little chaos demons do their thing no matter what I like. They're so much fun!
I Ignore one of my cats meowing because he does it every morning when he’s hungry even though I feed him at 7:45am on the dot every single day (I feed them 2-3 times a day don’t worry)
I wish people, in general, would stop wearing stinky things. It's bad enough when you're in an enclosed space like a church or a store and suddenly there is someone who smells like they rolled around in bleach and lemon juice. Cats are sensitive to strong smells, and that applies doubly to things you clean with. If you have a cat, you should avoid scented cleaners, scented candles (avoid candles period), scented laundry detergent, scented fabric softener/scented dryer sheets, "air purifier/essential oils" diffuser oils, incense, and smoking/vaping (cannabis and tobacco.) Despite how much "Old Spice" advertises, your cat will not appreciate it.
That's great I love that
Great idea!
Agree. Our cat does the same.
My cat loves to have her belly rubbed gently, the same for her tail and back. Only from me though, I have raised her since she was a week old.
debbie- most cats don't like it though. I'm surprised that most people don't realize it's a no-no for cats. My suggestion would be to just not do it or if they do to just stroke the belly area very gently, not a full on, rough belly rub like you would a dog.

My cat also loves rubbing him with a wet hands after I wash them. Moreover he loudly asks to dry him with a towel after that. So my hands washing procedure is a bit longer than others' people.
THANKS FOR THE INFO!
Cats are individuals. Some cats like it, some don't.

Maybe the cats don't want to hurt your feelings and just accept you rubbing their face and belly's
Good vids though.
oddly enough my cat loves her face being pet and will force her face under my hand every chance she gets. also loves her ears being pet
Thank you, excellent video and great advice.
Thank you so much for the kind feedback! I'm delighted you found the video and advice helpful. 😊🐾🌟
Thanks so much for the video ❤
Pretty good video, but my cats LOVE to have their faces rubbed. I think that's just another trust issue and caution is only needed around a new or stranger cat.
Mine loves his forehead and the top of his head rubbed.
My cat loves her belly being rubbed and groomed. She will grab her brush and show me where she wants to be brushed.
Thank you for sharing ❤
I learned more about understanding cats behavior from this video. It's like the Rosetta stone for cats. U have increased my ability to communicate with someone I care about and interact with daily. Thank u
We brought in two rough feral cats living in our bushes. They love belly rubs. It depends on the person. You have to talk to them in your soft voice to get them to fully trust you. Keep noise at a minimum.
Aerosol cans sound like hissing. Really scares them.
My cats LOVE belly rubs. I can rub their backs, and they will roll over asking for tummy touches.
Very 1st item: shows multiple cats who clearly enjoy & welcome belly rubs & scritchies. Some like it, some don't, some like it from certain people or certain ways or times or lengths or...w/e.
The Rule: Take your cue from the cat (Basically, get "consent" if you actually care about others besides yourself.) & learn the signs of "plz"..."that's enough"...etc
Petting/touching their face falls under this category as well. With a cat that likes it & a person who knows how...well, I've had more than one cat push their face HARD into my hand to get more lol
End laser pointer sessions with a real toy...ofc.
😂
My cat always wakes me up... so I don't mind doing the same ^_^
Informative. It's videos like this that help me to connect better with my cat.
next vid: why cats hate sudden lud noises, being sprayed with water, or being set on fire
My cat loves her face rubbed but the belly is a "no no."😊
My cat doesnt like plastic bags so anytime I use them I do so very slowly as to not make much noise (which is what scares him)
Staring any animal down is generally not a great idea.
Laser pointer toys are a form of animal abuse. I thought that the minute I saw one many yrs. ago. There’s nothing to catch and that’s mean. 😭
Our cat liked having her whiskers stroked.
That's sweet! Whiskers are such a sensitive and important part of a cat's anatomy. 🐱💕
4:04 but but one time my cats who hate eachother had a conversation with meowing
And when it's damp and rainy and dark, which I love the most... he's just as comfortable as I am, and very likely to sit as close to me as he can get, dozing off in absolute comfort. lol
😊
My mittens loves his face touched. He literally puts his face in my hand. The rest seems accurate, but even the belly rub. He likes it a lot.
(Couldn't let her on the bed, because otherwise we'd get a loud MEEOW! right in our ears at 3am.)
Always understood about letting them sleep. There was a kids' book I read once which made that point, and I never forgot it.
Maybe you could have mentioned holding their paws. A lot of cats aren't keen on that; you really have to earn their trust before they'll let you (and it's necessary if you ever need to be trimming their claws).
My Gizmo loves belly rubs. Has since he was a kitten. He’ll get on my lap and roll over.
All of my cats that i've had/have LOVE to have their bellies rubbed. They demand it!
Cats love laser pointers. When I quit using it they come up to me and demand more laser pointing bc they enjoy it.
Absolutely! Laser pointers can be such a fun and engaging toy for cats. My kitty loves them! Just be sure to give them a "real" toy to catch at the end of each play session, so they feel a sense of accomplishment. ! 🐾🔴😊
@@Feline_Fanatics they don't like the toys I have they just ignore them but I do try.
I don't know about most cats but my demon loves belly rubs and scratches, she also lovea when i touch her face and she doesn't have a stare problem, she's very polite actually and friendly
She will greeted you saying "hello", blinks to you, runs behind you, she let's you sleep, she doesn't destroy my stuff, she's very sweet and gentle, she doesn't bite or scratch even if i tease her too much 🤣
sometimes i wonder if she's a cat or something else 🤣
My sweet little chocolate demonic dragon
A pure calico demon❤️❤️
Your cat sounds like an absolute gem! ❤️ It’s not every day you hear about a kitty that loves belly rubs and face touches. She’s got that purrfect mix of politeness and friendliness, like a little furry ambassador! 🐱
I had the thought about laser pointers, I only used them briefly and now I use string with a toy on the end.
The move must have changed them
But we still be careful because you never know
My maybe (adopted from a shelter) Norwegian forrest cat enjoy "cold".
My cat purrs and trills when I rub her belly vigorously…
Thank you so much, now all I need to do I adopt a cat and try not to piss him/her off
Felix, our cat, demands belly rubs.
My cat also loves loves loves to have his cheeks scratched..they have pharamones in their cheeks
my one cat is so aggressive when he wants head nuzzles, he loves his face touched
he nuzzles against your hand with such force 😂
Well done 👍
they might perceive it as an invasion of their personal space? gee... I've never experienced that feeling from my cat.... not even when he tries to sleep on my head at night
very interesting
One of the first quirks I noticed about my tuxedo cat was that he *loves* having his face touched. He will actively pull my hand to his face to run his cheeks against it.
on the last point, I completely agree
how would you like to get rousted up from dreamland?
#3 doesnt make sense to me my kitten loves it almost goes into paralyzes and purring while guiding my fingers on its side of his face and upper cheek area by eyes and he allows me to do this while in my lap while i sit on the ground and have him facing up at me in my hands not sure if its because he feels like hes being groomed by his mother but yeah he loves it
Lol my cat kai loves her belly rubs
Cats do not necessarily like kissing, hugging, teasing, or tickling
Better to think of affection like a dance where you harmonize with their cues
My cat hates belly rubs. He will let me do it every once in a while, but not very often. He usually tries to take his back leg and gently push my hand away, so I listen to him. He loves being pet on the face especially. He basically asks for it, forcing me to do it sometimes.
My cats love belly rubs.
Every time I try the slow blink my cats look away.
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH THEY ARE PURRRRFECT❤
Ive literally never seen a cat exposing its belly out of fear. Literally never even seen a video example of that. Ever.
I don’t think they said that anywhere. They literally said they DONT usually expose their belly unless they feel
Comfortable because it houses vital organs etc..
@@MrCFortuneThe 1st 40 seconds of this video. Rewatch.
😢 so much knowledge unlocked 🔓
my cat loves his bully rubs...well 2 of the four
I'm pretty I used to be a cat in another life, I to need about 15 hours of sleep 😂
The only good idea is their own.
I love cats!
Same here! Cats have such a special way of capturing our hearts with their unique personalities and antics. Thanks for sharing the love! 😺❤🐾
my cat meows at me until i hold her like a baby and scratch her belly. shes been in my arms/lap about 15mins, i had to type this 1 handed lol
What dose it mean when your cat looks out the window every day
Laser pointer tip. After a session reward with a treat because they feel like they’ve had a successful hunt.
The person who made this video has never actually met a cat
I was thinking the same thing 🤣
Why do you say that? 🤔
I love the 😻 😺 🐈 meow!!!!!!
Now I know my kitty doesn't eat the the food at the bottom of the dish. Always prefer a full dish, lol
I Ignore one of my cats meowing because he does it every morning when he’s hungry even though I feed him at 7:45am on the dot every single day (I feed them 2-3 times a day don’t worry)
I love cats !!!
Came here to say that my cat loved her belly rubbed , but a bunch of people have already commented about it.
Hisstofurr (orange tabby) loves it when I rub his face amd ears.
I have a cat who will jab her nose into me when she gets excited. It's quite painful! (For me). She loves it!
my cat loves me touching his face, especially his cheeks. I don’t think these rules apply to all cats
If you have a cat, you should avoid scented cleaners, scented candles (avoid candles period), scented laundry detergent, scented fabric softener/scented dryer sheets, "air purifier/essential oils" diffuser oils, incense, and smoking/vaping (cannabis and tobacco.)
Despite how much "Old Spice" advertises, your cat will not appreciate it.
