Ace, you were the artist that brought KISS to life. Your solos, your logos, your style. You were what made Gene and Paul's money machine into art. I've been a fan since Destroyer.
Man, there is no point of trash-talking about Gene and Paul just to lift Ace up higher. Without Gene and Paul, you'd not even have Kiss to begin with. It's a band, not a solo artist. Imagine Kiss without Paul and Gene's vocals, and Paul's amazing frontmanship. If Kiss is a money machine, most other bands are too. It's all business afterall.
Me too, Destroyer was my first KISS album, Alive was my 2nd. Hooked ever since.

I took my young sons to see Kiss and Def Leppard when they were about 10 and 8 years old, maybe a little older; about six or seven years ago. I was so proud of my youngest who was exhausted by the end of the night but wanted to wait to leave until Kiss had finished their encore. Great night!

Did anyone else notice when he picked up the Kinks record toward the end? It was a greatest hits compilation from 1978 by Ronco lol! They totally lifted the Kiss font. I’m surprised Ace didn’t say anything about it.

My very first concert was KISS at the Forum in '77 with Cheap Trick. I was 11. What an experience for an 11 year old kid in the '70's who had never even been in the same room with an electric guitar, lol. I had just started playing on a nylon string acoustic. Didn't get an electric until age 13. I wanted to be Ace.

They had to use the regular shaped "S" for album covers, posters and lighted KISS logo on stage in Europe for obvious reasons.

Rainbow Bridge is a movie filmed in Hawaii. Jimi Hendrix acts in the movie. He also does a short live show for a handful of hippies. It's a great album!

I wouldn't call the Kinks underrated since they are in the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame. But I must say that when he held up that album my eyes read Kiss and not Kinks.

Ace holds up the Ace Of Base vinyl..I could immediately recall their discography. I highly doubted that Ace would know any of their songs but I remember all of their greatest hits. They were kind of like a 90's ABBA. Swedish band with just as many hits in the 90's as ABBA I think. Thanks to Ace now I have their song All That She Wants in my head. >_

Man. Ace Frehley. The whole reason I picked up the guitar. And the whole reason I had to have a Gibson.
I got my first Gibson Les Paul Custom for Christmas in 1985. I still have that and every other Gibson I've gotten since then. And that LPC is still my favorite. It's sitting right next to me with a fresh set of strings. I think I'll pick it up and play Shock Me before I crash for the night.

Seen Ace at "Clicks Live" in Tyler, TX. Been a fan since I was knee hi. Finally got up to the stage for the Smoking Guitar Solo. Caught it all on my cell phone!! Ace burned right in front of me for a minute (Seemed like 20 minutes!) He still has it. Love that he can still perform at that level, It ain't easy. Anyways I wake up the next day and accidentally deleted the guitar solo. DAM IT! - The point is - do like the old days take in the show live and keep it close man. Dream Big and Live to the best of your ability. Keep Rocking Ace, Loved it Man.
I don't think Ace caught the connection that some of those albums had to Kiss. The Kinks album had the name similar to Kiss with the lightning bold S and glitter fonts, The Randy Newman cover had Randy in full face makeup similar to Kiss
I came to say exactly this. I think a lot of thought went into picking those specific records and some of that was missed by Ace. Or maybe Ace just didn't feel like playing along.
@@smashism Very true. I think at first I felt like he just missed the point, but you might be right in that he may have just ignored those connections and decided not to play the game. I think some of those albums may have been poking fun at Kiss back in the day.

A friend of mine worked in a record shop, he told me they were stuck with stacks of the "Sgt. Pepper" soundtrack. Big time bomb.
Wal Mart was stuck with stacks of Sonic Boom, and Target was stuck with stacks of Monster, LOL! Ace must be laughing his ass off about that!
