    I've been a still life acrylic painter for 40 years. I enjoy yourv videos. Currently I'm working on a very challenging portrait series but I have always been working on doing landscapes and being more loose in my style. I enjoy your videos and paint alot like you in process. I think a successful painting is when I convey the feeling I get when I saw the scene for the first time. Like you, I love capturing the the way the light plays and makes great shadows. A loose style really lends itself to that. Thanks

    Well I’ve watched two of your tutorials now, & you do a great job demonstrating & explaining these techniques. I was looking for a tutorial to paint marshland grasses here in the northeast off of Cape Cod, for example. I watched this one &, “How To Paint Grass in Acrylics.” Exactly what I needed. Great job, really. Just subscribed.

    Thank you so much for your suggestions on improvement. Over the months that I’ve watched your videos and tutorials I have been using your color palettes/methods and my art has dramatically improved. The suggestion to drop your canvas size is gold. I encourage any viewers out there to practise what Karim is suggesting and you will not be sorry. Another fabulous👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 video my friend. 😃😃. Ps. I just bought some cradled Birch panels but hadn’t done anything with them because I wasn’t sure what to do LOL so I’m on my way to Home Depot today to get some Kils I hope they have it here in Canada 😁

      @@FrankMakesMovies I am already a pastel painter my friend so m generally stuck at color combination for a new color coz usually one can have separate soft pastel sticks for their need but to make it simultaneously is a challenge for me, but I'll take ur advice seriously, I'll try to focus on the things u talked about

    I am struggling with how to depict the dark areas in reference material, ie sunset images where the dark areas are underexposed. Any suggestions?

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  3 роки тому +1

      I know that problem, I use to struggle as well with that! The way I worked through that was, I imagined being at the spot and and think in my head that what I saw dark couldn’t possibly be. I would think in my head that there has to be color there. So I would paint the local colors in a little darker tones. I hope it makes sense, try this and you’ll know what I mean, take your phone go outside and take a picture of something against a strong light like the sun. Take that picture and then take another picture of the same subject but adjust the picture so that the foreground subject is in color and the light from the sun is dark! I have an iPhone, so I would press my finger on the sky part of the picture and it will make my foreground light and the sun dark. After you take the photos look at them side by side and you’ll see what the dark area would have looked like in color. Hope that makes sense!

    • @ganjajay
      @ganjajay 3 роки тому +1

      @@GebahiArtworks Thanks for the advice. I generally paint too dark and then try to go back and paint lighter but its not really working. I heard you say in several other videos to paint the darks in a midtone. Then add some darker darks and highlights. My other struggle is with overworking brushstrokes.

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  3 роки тому +1

      @@ganjajay that’s the other problem, when to stop!! We have this tendency to want to add more details, kinda of like talking. If you talk too much you may put off those that are listening, just give enough info to engage the listener to want to ask questions!

    Nice painting but... you talk a lot but you say little about what you are doing, which colours you mix, etc... I am much less interested in knowing why you use the size of canvas that you used, instead it would have been much more helpfull if you would have said which colours, which brush you use for the different parts. Perhaps something to take into consideration for you next paintings...
